SPL dominoes might all fancy ditching HMRC debt

1072

It’s difficult not to associate Hearts’ owner, Vladimir Romanov’s outburst on their club website yesterday with the current issue over Rangers finances, which could soon see the SPL, the SFA and the media take sides between Rangers and their creditors, in particular HM Revenue and Customs.

Romanov’s rant on the demise of the Scottish game was ignorable until he dragged in the “tax authorities” for blame.  As you and I know, the tax authorities don’t play favourites, they collect vat, income, corporation and other taxes in line with the law.

Hearts failed to pay player wages last month and Romanov now says, “there is no point is spending millions to watch someone else’s show”.  Most of Hearts debt is owed to Romanov’s own bank but if player wages are unpaid there is a good chance HMRC will also be outstanding, explaining the “tax authorities” reference.

If a new football club playing at Ibrox is ushered into the SPL with a points tally calculated from the position of a defunct Rangers you can expect a gold-rush of clubs ready to flush their debts to the country, and history, away.

Well done to STV who yesterday revealed the actual decision making process which would be put in place to judge an application to join the league midseason or at any other time.  The SPL board, by simple majority, have the decision, while the SFA need to ratify membership.

If the SPL board vote to reward bad debtors’ shares in their league what incentive would most clubs have to pay their bills?  Fortunately, our history is more valuable than any amount of cash.

The new issue of CQN Magazine will be out next week, let me know if you would like to advertise, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

Neil Lennon is not the reason we are in a bad place just now, he hasn’t been dealt a good hand injury-wise and, as usual…the identified ‘key’ signings weren’t made but, at least we’re not going down the shoot! I’m right in saying we are not going down the shoot inta ………???mmmmm

I don’t think the grove tavern still shows the games. I could be wrong though. I’ll go from gatwick to the surprise bar in vauxhall to watch it.

Cheers for posting today’s instalment of anti Celtic rumours. Did yesterday teach the Celtic support anything?

  13. I detest rumours so I am going to stick with facts. Kris Commons is very badly injured. A good friend of my uncle`s showed me never before seen footage of Kris and he looked awful. Neck brace, nose plaster and a head bandage. To make matters worse, Neil Lennon found the whole thing funny. Disgraceful.

It would disappoint me if we were to rest players for a European game, because of a trip to that pit on Sunday.

Our club is bigger than that.

I can understand the situation with El K and Rogne, but if certain players are listed as being injured, when they are not really injured – that would be totally unacceptable.

  19. Just out of curiosity how many folk that post on here also read other Celtic forums?

I read a couple of others (basically if they’ve got a golf day I’m in like Flynn) and to be fair to CQN the level of insight and quality of a plain old good read is fabulous at times. It has this quirky cerebral tolerance for stuff that would never last 2 seconds on the other forums too before deletion and a ban which is infuriating, exacerbating, frustrating and all the while strangely a good thing for the site.

What has also developed is mindless regurgitation of the worst of some of the other sites, not just Celtic sites, but in particular the rumour stuff. There’s no quality of read in that, no insight, no thought to the post, no integrity to its veracity. (That’s all the big words I know and that’s really why I’m posting this). I’m not saying we can only post positive stuff and no criticism, I just think that sort of stuff is a complete turn off to the comments section of the blog, every bit as bad as the redtops and totally at odds with the blog’s strapline.

And with that I’m away for ma toast, if it’s still working cos I heard a rumour Neil Lennon broke ma toaster on Kris Commons head.

Kayal33 I saw those on twitter too, however it was answered very succinctly last night by SFTB who simply asked the question “which players have contract talks outstanding?.” as far as he was aware only Scott brown has ongoing contract talks at the moment.KI and Kayal recently signed new contracts which i can only assume that they were happy to do so as were their respective agents. Rangers face court over alleged unpaid bill

Page last updated at 23:43 GMT, Wednesday, 2 November 2011

Rangers are facing further court action from a company pursuing an allegedly unpaid bill.

Capita Trustees, which provides pension services to employers, is taking the football club to Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

It is seeking payment of what Capita’s lawyer calls a “straightforward commercial debt for advisory services rendered”.

Rangers have recently faced court action by creditors.

Those have included Britain’s tax authority, HMRC, and two former club directors.

Former chief executive Martin Bain and Donald McIntyre successfully argued that the risk of the club going into administration was so strong that money should be ring-fenced ahead of their court cases in pursuit of lost earnings.

A club spokesman declined to comment on the latest court action.

I am glad I managed to see your final post before writing this one because I was about to start with ” BK. I agree with you totally..” I would have received a few ” Big headed pillock. Are you a Hun?” type of replies!

    Anyway, my intended post.

I try to be decent to people on here even when I have no respect for their posts but I am going to be downright rude now. Those calling for Neil Lennon to be sacked without considering the astonishing number of injuries he has had to cope with are just stupid.
