It’s difficult not to associate Hearts’ owner, Vladimir Romanov’s outburst on their club website yesterday with the current issue over Rangers finances, which could soon see the SPL, the SFA and the media take sides between Rangers and their creditors, in particular HM Revenue and Customs.
Romanov’s rant on the demise of the Scottish game was ignorable until he dragged in the “tax authorities” for blame. As you and I know, the tax authorities don’t play favourites, they collect vat, income, corporation and other taxes in line with the law.
Hearts failed to pay player wages last month and Romanov now says, “there is no point is spending millions to watch someone else’s show”. Most of Hearts debt is owed to Romanov’s own bank but if player wages are unpaid there is a good chance HMRC will also be outstanding, explaining the “tax authorities” reference.
If a new football club playing at Ibrox is ushered into the SPL with a points tally calculated from the position of a defunct Rangers you can expect a gold-rush of clubs ready to flush their debts to the country, and history, away.
Well done to STV who yesterday revealed the actual decision making process which would be put in place to judge an application to join the league midseason or at any other time. The SPL board, by simple majority, have the decision, while the SFA need to ratify membership.
If the SPL board vote to reward bad debtors’ shares in their league what incentive would most clubs have to pay their bills? Fortunately, our history is more valuable than any amount of cash.
The new issue of CQN Magazine will be out next week, let me know if you would like to advertise, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

Mark Wilson out for 6 mths according to tweet from Kerrydale Street. Says he’s done his knee in again.
Don’t know if it’s true – just passing it on.
Jungle Jim – I don’t think English is a laptop loyalist bent on mischief.
At least, not with this article. (thumbsup)

European Nights at Celtic Park,
Tuesday, Wednesdays or Thursdays it just makes the week that wee bit more special.
Canny wait.
Come on The Tic
I am a wee bit more optimistic about tonight’s game now.
We should just go all-out attack and see what happens.
Samaras will score at least one goal,as will Commons(if selected).
COME ON CELTIC!!
Slan.
It’s a wee shame all our players have got sore L … Erm …..
injuries.
Like many thousands of you out there, if I was to get a call from
Lenny to play tonight, I’d be out of my sick bed like a shot and despite a bad back I’d be driving up the road to paradise, I’d run about the park like Broony on speed despite the fact I have asthma and was hospitalised with it a few months back. To wear the hoops for real…. What a great honour that would be.
I hope our wee diddums are all better after a tuck in and hot water bottle.

Interesting article.
circumnavigate the rules in ways UEFA didn’t think of, they may change the rules to close any holes in FFP. What do you think the rules should include if they are to achieve what UEFA set out for them to do?
That is a tricky question because it all depends on each individual’s perspective of what the rules are there to accomplish. The RPT issue discussed above is one of massive interest because a number of clubs believe the sponsorship deal is a way of circumventing the rules.
Article 53 of the FFPRs state that UEFA “will at all times bear in mind the overall objectives of these regulations, in particular to defeat an attempt to circumvent these objectives.”
I think that only after the first couple of monitoring periods where licenses have been submitted and further investigations carried out by UEFA will the organisation be able to forensically police the regulations and uncover any practices that go against the spirit of the rules. In this sense, UEFA will have to be somewhat reactive to close potential loopholes

Not intended as a slight at Mark Wilson who never has any luck injury wise.

How can Celtic have failed to register Thomas Rogne in the Europa list of 25.
He was probably injured at the time, but shurely shome mistake?
It’ll be interesting to see what kind of back four NL comes up with tonight.

I have read some very good articles by Tom English but on occasions he jumps on the popular knock Celtic bandwaggon. That would be fine if he occasionally did the same with rangers but I don`t think he does. The following two sentences are the important ones in assessing his intention.
“It is said that he has two games in which to save his job. Nobody outside the key people at Celtic know whether that is true or not, but, hopefully, it isn’t.”
Firstly, he makes a very unsettling statement then immediately another statement that shows why the first one should not have been made!
The final clause can be taken as an honest sentiment or as a device to show that the author`s criticism of Neil is a fair and honest one. My view is that his use of admitted rumour weakens his impartiality to such an extent that I end up seeing the article as , at best, mischief-making and, at worst, adding fuel to the popular Hate Neil Lennon fire.

Not surprised about the Mark Wilson unconfirmed story.
He hasn’t been fully fit all season, and was only delaying the need for surgery.
Hope this formats OK –

Shortbread News @ 10 said Hearts paid a creditor out of court to avoid a winding up order.
I have nothing against Mark Wilson and i hope he is ok,,,but i dont and have never rated him as a player,i thought he was awful against Hibs at Celtic park,i understand he may have been carrying an injury but he’s just not good enough,,,hopefully this will give young Matthews an extended run at right full back which is his true position,,,starting tonight against the French,,haw hee haw :D
Hail hail
Could it be possible that the two bigot brother clubs go out of business in the same season ? What a year this could be.
My only worry would be where would all those bigots go on a Saturday instead ?
JOBOBALDIE 1013
Take yer boots with you tonight.
You might get a start, never mind a place on the bench.
As I see it, the powers that be in Scottish football have only one option open to them really and that is they simply MUST do the right thing. Failure to do so would plunge our game into the Mickey Mouse category and all credibility would be lost never to return.
There cannot under any circumstance, be a law for one which is not applied evenly to all clubs and if this were to happen, then I for one will never go to another game in Scotland ever again. I hope this does not happen but history, coupled with the pro- hun establishment suggests that it , wrongly, probably will.
Watch this space!!

A mate of mine who works for Strathclyde Plod tells me that credit card fraud reaches higher than normal levels immediately after games at Ibroke. The most valid explanation given is that every second card stolen has the same chip and pin number…. Yep, you’ve guessed it….1690.
True?

Some list but ole Cha Du Ri – a forward?
Good Morning to the Celtic Family from a dry but dull Central Scotland. Well yet another injury Mark Wilson the latest to join the long list. I think whatever team we put out tonight should have a real go at Rennes as we have nothig to lose and I feel if we sit back and try to contain them we will lose as they are a very good side. I also think it was good to see Commons joke yesterday as it shows the spirit within the team is not all doom and gloom so I am looking forward to tonights game come on the hoops.H.H.
Bourne
According to the UEFA site he is in the squad.
http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2012/clubs/club=50050/squad/index.html
So who knows what the story is
never get me to make the arrangements/get tickets
Loovens and Mastorovic in central defence? Jeezo thats scary.
Jungle Jim 09:55

Based on that list I’d go with:
Forster
Du Ri – Big Dan – Wanyama – Matthews
Forrest – Kayal – Commons – McCourt (diamond Commons forward, kayal sitting back)
Stokes-Samaras(I don’t think Hooper is fully fit yet)
Not having Rogne down in the Euroopean squad will become the next stick to beat PL with.
Jobo’s squad showed 5 centre halfs.
Five.
Only bad luck with injuries has shown this to be inadequate.
PL wasn’t using the ole crystal ball!!
Sack him.
Jungle Jim – You can read more critical stuff on here every day of the week.
I thought English was defending Neil.
It’s a matter of opinion I guess. (thumbsup)
Euroopean??????
European.
And me what taught hard sums and spelling!!
Give Paul George (Ringo) a start and see if Kris Commons’ attitude surgery was successful.
Off topic, I know but something to do if you ever need cheering up. This is what I do.
I watch my wedding video backwards and it lifts my heart. I see QueenLuBO take her wedding ring off, walk back out the church and into a car, gone forever. Still make me laugh

So the diets have settled out of court.
What a state the game is in when a club can take paying a creditor right to the wire, beyond what’s happening with the huns, its disgraceful that the cousins can go as far as squaring somebody up on the verge of winding up proceedings.
The SFA should be sanctioning this behaviour too,it shouldn’t just be euro licensing.
philvis,
I agree. This really is a case of “opinions” where both of us can see how the article could be read and it is just a matter of interpretation how it actually is. Either way, our opinions on this do not add to the undermining of Celtic theme far too prevalent on this site at present.
