Poor poor poor performance today by us.Well done to the St Mirren hope they win the final

Today was unacceptable.
Felt like a return to an era I had hoped had gone.
Many failures among the cream today. IMO we need a leader. It could be Vic but he’s not here for long so time to bring one in.
Scott Brown was not the worst player today by a long shot but neither was he the captain and leader we required.

We started in 3rd gear and got everything we deserved, appalling display…Izzy was woeful while Lassad & Samaras both just want to do their own thing now & again.
Subs were baffling AGAIN….Hope never to see Zaluska in a Celtic top again

borderlandbhoy – fair enough point. It was not the players who failed us today.
It was the “management team” that prepared the players.

Standing at Mount Florida. Frozen . Red rotten performance. Apart from first ten of 2nd half we were clearly second best. Attitude all wrong. Broony and Matthews ok I thought and not sure why Zaluska getting stick but rest of team dire.
Sometimes this Armageddon can be quite painful after all.

On Collum….. he seemed to be pretty even handed for the majority of the game. The last 15 minutes or so I thougth quite a few “50/50s”, especially near our box, were going in favour of the saints thus breaking up play

Right, I’m aff before CQN turns rancid.
In the words of that sad wee man who died last week – “Calm down, dear! It’s only a daft wee backyard cup!”. Important to other Scots teams as a potential for the display cabinet if they have one. We should want to win it but we showed we didn’t want it enough.
Calm down and look ahead to more meaningful matches where we’ll need to be properly committed.
ItaliaBhoy on
Collum was OK, for perhaps the first time in one of our games.
Both penalties were correct (although a bit harsh booking both players).
I thought he blew too early for the whistle, (1 sub plus a goal in added on time?), but I doubt we’d have got more than ten seconds anyway.

Jamesbhoy, who’s attitude was lacking? We could have won that game well. If barca or Man U get beat it is always about attitude. Can a one off match not be lost on the day? The best teams win most matches over the year but not all of them. Not spoiling for any fight. I don’t blame attitude though.

Well done St Mirren. The better team won on the day.I can’t find anything good to say about Celtic,so I’ll leave it at that.

if you start getting the “we should’nae be losing tae that 2nd rate team” attitude then i’m affraid all that is good about the game of football is gone for you.
there are teams across the uk who have fans like that and they tend to let the clubs down by losing all semblance of reality when they loose a game
fair enough criticise a hoops player for not try his best but dont belittle another club or player for beating us
after all the negative press the game in scotland got after the demise of an spl team last year, i think this season has thrown it right back at the doubters who said scottish football would shrivel and die without them
ok we’re out the league cup, we can try again next year

Stephenofderby, I agree with most of what you’re saying but this wasn’t a one-off. The Hamden games last year should have served as a big warning that we must apply ourselves 100% regardless of opposition. Even watching what Bradford and Swansea achieve midweek, like Paul said, should have sparked the players into realising the danger of not performing at their maximum. A real shame because there had never been a better chance to claim a treble. Juve is all well and good but we’re in the business of winning trophies

Cultsbhoy for me the midfield were over run from the start . No shows from vic brown and Lesley caused a lack of cohesion. But can’t see much of a future for lassad either

Paul67 did warn all of us this was no cake walk and a few supporters like a few players and maybe the manager clearly thought it would be.
Therein lies the problem. If there is an atmosphere of arrogance with Celtic we are usually set up for a fall and fall we did.

I’d be happy if we played the reserves in the LC. Sure, we’d lose a lot but it would be proper experience for youngsters etc.

Nothing to do with “Hampden hoodoo” and everything to do with tactics and attitude on the day. Very disappointed. Just because there are bigger prizes doesn’t mean we don’t fight to win every prize.
Stepping away from the computer for the night, missed two hours of Borgen last night so that’ll keep my seething mind off today’s let-down.
NegAnon, Snake – Hear Hear and Hail Hail. Our anger doesn’t make us lesser supporters. If we were as blase as some of the players appeared today, we wouldn’t be Celtic supporters at all. I hope they feel some of the hurt we do, and I hope Neil can communicate that.

I’m as gutted as anyone and well know it was another very poor Hampden performance but this was more or less the team that beat Dundee Und 4 nil last Tues. & Hearts 4 to 1 a couple of days before, twas the team that held out for 93 mins in the Nou Camp, that beat the mighty Barca in Celtic Park and beat Spartak Moscow home & away. Criticism for todays performance is justified but surely it must be balanced. Big Vic was poor today but we all know he is a very good player who goes out and plays with heart & skill on a regular basis. To accuse him of lacking heart & commitment based on todays performance is simply not fair. I’ve just taken Vic as an example but the same can be said for most of the squad.

Terrible performance once again at hampden, substations bizarre!. Nowhere near good enough. 1 shot on target after saints took the lead says all you need to know about the desire in the team. Our midfield are shockingly bad at supporting the strikers, don’t know if its desire or as I suspect tactics that stop this happening. For the high that is Europe should not stop us asking serious questions about the performances domestically that our team produce, bitterly disappointed.

In a 50/50 situation on a surface like that I’d rather see our bhoys stay safe for the big games approaching. St Mirren didn’t have that problem because this is their big game and so were fully committed every time. Added to the fact we played gash for long spells with a sprinkle of some bad luck at times.
Some would rather see us risk injury and face the Italian champs with a depleted team.
