Stokes mentor Hughes and O’Dea at Dees

488

Anthony Stokes joining up with John Hughes for a third time, on this occasion in Inverness, would be a great move for all concerned. Hughes knows how to get the best out of the player, who is wasting away in the stands at Celtic. There will be a financial consideration, as unlike a team in the English Championship, Inverness will not be able to cover all of Stokes’ wages, but Celtic are better having a contribution to his wages than nothing.

Anthony is still only 27, he could have several productive years ahead, but he needs to get back to putting the ball in the net somewhere (last goal was against St Mirren in December 2014).

Also delighted to see Darren O’Dea back in Scottish football at Dundee. As we discussed last week, Dundee are full of goals at both ends of the field at the moment. An experienced international like Darren (28) will help.

    Project Charlotte

The Draft Restructuring Workstreams Matrix, Project Charlotte, has an issue date of October 5th 2011. The document I have access to consists of six PowerPoint slides. I assume that these are excerpts from a much more detailed presentation. The ‘Heading’ slide is followed by five other slides that are titled: Legal, Football, Insolvency Options & Process, Financial and PR Strategy. This draft plan was evidently constructed by a company that has a certain expertise in insolvency matters. Let’s call them MCR. Two individuals, as is often the case in workflow documents, are identified by their initials, in this case they are CW and GW. In addition to MCR, CW, GW there is the additional subheading of Club Staff.

I will look at each slide in the order that they are presented. The Legal slide includes a subtitle of a Security Review which is the responsibility of MCR. Under the Points to Consider (PTC) heading is the validity of the floating charge. The subtitle of Legal Due Diligence, which is in the purview of GW and MCR, includes PTC in regard to Scottish Solicitors, The Scottish Administration process, a statement of debt and a statement of affairs.

Point three is the most detailed of the eight points in this slide. Under the heading of Alternative Appointment Options are the subheadings of MCR recommendations; and timing issues and risks. CW and MCR, who are allocated to this task have four PTC which include the method used to appoint insolvency practitioners and the directors’ fiduciary duty in a cash flow insolvency. The timing of cash inflows and outflows, prior to and post appointment, must be carefully analysed.

The fourth point concerns those paragons of football governance, the SPL and the SFA. GW and MCR have PTC which include the ability of the Administrator to transfer/sell memberships of these august institutions and any points deducted, or worse.

As RFC plc are listed on the PLUS exchange, CW and GW must consider market announcements and regulations. It is recommended that they seek Counsel’s opinion on the validity of acquisition and consider the club’s articles.

Under the Football slide’s heading, CW, GW and the club staff must consider football creditors and their consequent impact on any Newco. It is recommended that they carefully study the rules which tie them to football creditors. This is followed by PTC in regard to UEFA and FIFA in regard to any Newco’s projected trading performance and ability to meet their regulations. The players contracts must be considered and their TUPE rights.

The Insolvency Options and Process slide is the most detailed and most complex of the five slides. MCR are tasked with the going concern price and the break-up value of the assets. An approach to the SPL and SFA must be made to seek authorization for the emergency sale of players outwith the transfer windows. There are PTC in regard to Ticketus and how to deal with their claim on the season ticket income, and their vote in board meetings, which was a condition on the contract that has never been published. The final PTC are in regard to suppliers and sponsors.

The Financial slide recommends that CW, MCR and club staff review Newco’s projected trading performance and future of ticket income sold to Ticketus. There are recommendations in regard to those pesky Ransom Creditors with a view to discerning who is critical to Newco. The final point is whether HMRC will issue a bond for previous liabilities to Newco.

The fifth slide considers PR Strategy and recommends a coordinated approach by all parties to maintain a ‘business as usual’ approach to match days and to get the ‘buy in’ from the SPL, SFA, and the supporters groups.

At this point I must stress that this was a draft proposal allegedly presented to CW and GW. There is no guarantee that any party implemented the recommendations of MCR. However one might reasonably conclude that the events on and subsequent to 14th February 2012 were coordinated and planned as early as 5th October.

I read that a few mins ago on John James’ site. I am confused by him. At times he seems to have access to prime information, at others his remarks and predictions are wild and light on fact.

At times he rights as if he couldn’t possibly be a RFC fan, then whips out silly arguments against title stripping that suggest he is.

Is he a hit-and-miss prophet or just a charlaton with a few choice pieces of info?

Who knows. Interesting all the same.

    St Stivs

Nope, I was given a ticket at Utd replay last season

They will letter you then give up because they can’t enforce the fine in Scotland( well according to my reps)

  6. Saint Stivs don’t even respond an illegal scam, you will receive several threatening letters, keep them for reference but DO NOT respond. Take legal advice for peace of mind or check with PF Ayr. H H Hebcelt

  7. You really have to ask why Anto is wasting away in the stands.

RD played him a fair bit last season, seemed to like him and Izzy together.

    Bobo revisited me thinks.

Good the see D O’Dea coming back to scotland, if the truth be known he could do a job for us, imo.

  8. I’d love to have seen Stokesy “doing it” at Celtic, for when he is fully fit, focussed and functioning, he is a better striker than Leigh Griffiths, good though LG is. But unfortunately Stokes has too many psychological demons that have prevented him from ever reaching his true potential.

If he isn’t going to fit in and flourish at Celtic then it would probably be best to allow him to move on and pursue his future career elsewhere. Wouldn’t it be nice if he was the man to score the goal that denied Sevco the automatic promotion spot again?!

And one for those in the rags who are constantly highlighting Celtic’s impotence up front… we have scored more goals this season than at the same point last season, and Ronny’s Celtic is also outscoring Neil Lennon’s team. So the fact that we only have one striker who can be relied upon to put the ball in the net regularly is not really handicapping us as a team. In fact, it may actually make us harder to defend against, as the goals can come from virtually any player in a Celtic shirt.

    TryingToBePositiveCFC

  9. actually Stokes’ last goal was v Motherwell in Dec ’14 (1-0 win).

He also had the 2nd best goals/assist ratio in the squad (bettered only, by Griffiths) at 1 per 113 mins. 8 goals, 15 assists. Not bad for a striker shunted out wide by the clueless Ronny.

‘He needs to get back to putting the ball in the back of the net’ – helps if you get picked. 110 mins playing time this season (see clueless, above).

Saint Stivs they can’t enforce it just ignore it and get them to prove you were driving the car that day. Local Co-op tried same with me, they never got a penny.

  12. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Great plan to get rid of players like Stokes and replace him with guys who should never have been given the chance to wear the hoops.

In recent seasons CELTIC teams containing Stokes and others, regularly cuffed Dundee United. What football genius decided that 3 of that poor United team, if added to the Champions would somehow improve us ?

  13. Don’t pay the parking fine. It’s not a fine, it’s a “request for payment”

Mate of mine got one about a year ago, they chased once but no comebacks.

If in doubt, see Money Saving Expert website.

  14. I’ve never been a big fan but Stokes should be in our first team ahead of Ciftci and the ineffectual Armstrong. Loaning him to Inverness helps us how?

  15. Ellbhoy

To be honest, bar fielding the cast of Police Academy 5, Ronny can do what the hell he wants. We’ll still win the league. The numbers simply don’t stack up for the rest.

    Then comes Europe.

Don’t worry. Soon, Ronny will have *his* team.

  16. Joe Filippis Haircut on

How on earth can Ronny play Cifti before Stokes ? in my opinion. loan out Cifti and get Stokes into the first team squad a.s.a.p. H.H.

Great plan to get rid of players like Stokes and replace him with guys who should never have been given the chance to wear the hoops.

Yup. Ronny played Stokes at LM. Players now in that position – McGregor, Armstrong, Mackay-Steven, Forrest. How’s their goals/assists tally coming along? Perhaps if you morphed them all into one player…

  18. West End of East End on

Davidopoulos – On the John James guy, the powerpoint he refers too was picked up from Twitter last night. I think someone on here may have linked it. In agreement with you on whether he is a rangers man or not, at one point I thought he was an Ashley man stirring it but dismissed that as I’m not sure MA would be as petty as that, would he ?

  19. West End of East End on

Stokes is going to be another one of those players that were better than they were the longer they sat in the stands…

  20. StStivs

  21. WEST END OF EAST END

Stokes is going to be another one of those players that were better than they were the longer they sat in the stands…

The opposite seems to be the case, if the social media reaction to his complaint about not getting games is anything to go by. That’s why I felt it important to post last season’s stats.

I’m not saying Stokes should stay at Celtic. If I were advising him, I’d tell him to get the hell out.

I suspect relations between the coaching staff and Stokes had been deteriorated dramatically, and finally broke down completely after his twitter outburst.

Commons was able to pull back from the brink, but Stokes didn’t. And there it is.

  22. Morning all,

Its a disgrace the way Stokes has been treated by Ronny and Celtic (memories of Super Joe Ledley and Bobo). Stokes partnership with Hooper was arguablythe most productive we have seen since Larsson and Sutton. His goal scoring record throughout his career in Scotland has been outstanding, particularly when combined with his assist rate.

But Ronny picks the two biggest waste of money, Ciftci and Armstrong, ahead of Anto. Some manager, he is.

    Hail Hail
