Summer business underway as Fojut signed

559

Celtic tied-up their first piece of business for the summer 2012 transfer window this afternoon by securing Polish central defender, Jaroslaw Fojut, 24, on a pre-contract.  Jaroslaw moved to England straight from school to join Bolton Wanderers, who he made two appearances for, before spending short loan periods at Luton and Stockport.

He moved back to Poland as a 21-year-old and has become a popular player at Polish league leaders, Slask Wroclaw, who knocked Dundee United out of the Europa League qualifying rounds this season in their first European football adventure in 40 years.

I hear he is a solid defender who commands the air well and who is likely to have his best years ahead of him.

From previous blog. Kilronan Castle is situated in the heart of the lake country on the Sligo Leitrim border and a terrific place for a wedding.

My late mother was from the area and as kids we spent our summer holiers up there. Ballymote, the birthplace of Andrew Kearins better known of course as Brother Walfrid is nearby and worth a visit.

Nearby Carrick On Shannon is a thriving town with plenty of good restaurants like Cryans, Shamrai if you like Indian food. the Bushe Hotel serves the best roast beef in the country, make sure you’re hungry if you go there – mountain of food. The Oarsman is another fine award winning restaurant. No shortage of music in trad, country, pop etc at weekends. Nice golf course in Carrick reasonable green fees.

Take a drive up to Sligo and visit Rosses Point on the coast. Famous championship golf course there and have a pint and a meal in the clubhouse and a walk along the beach. You will find all these places within a 30 miles radius. Best of luck.

I have it on good authority from my Polish workmate, a Slask Wroclaw fan, that this fella is big and aggressive and good in the air. Apparently comparable to Bobo Balde (he’s also a Celtic fan!)

I trust you are well my friend. Saw your couple of posts a few days ago saying we are not interested in Hamdi Salihi.

My information is there is definite interest and Neil himself confirmed our interest.

Just wondering why you are so sure we are not interested?

Hi Zbyszek – first of all I am delighted to see another Polish player at the Club – it is a market I feel we could do well in and should have maintained a presence in post-Boruc and post-Zurawski.

However – I am aware Messi won’t come, but Messi is not from a second-tier football nation. My point was that guys from poland, belgium, Wales, African nations etc etc that we are looking at, should (unless they are very young) be involved in the full national setup (i feel). It is simply a benchmark – and not a very scientific approach, but if he can’t make a relatively poor polish national team, then is he really going to improve Celtic’s squad?

On the positive side, he is quick, physically strong, and apparently good in the air. These are all attributes we need in a defender in the SPL, so hopefully he is a genuine prospect, and can kick on.

I hope we have made a good signing. will have to wait and see.

  9. * RTV understands that in a selfless act, for the guid of the ranjurs and scoddish football, Sir David Weir – that pillar of the establishment has stepped aside to free up several pounds a week for his best pal Ally to go and sign that crack player from a top EPL or Serie A outfit. What a top, top bloke, the ranjurs will never forget you Davie. RTV understands that the Physio suite at the palacial, state of the art, Murray Park will be renamed in his honour and it is expected that the club will hold an RAF flypast at the next Glorious Home game at Ibrox.*

Gordon J- IMO the huns have missed Weir’s influence on the MIBs.He is moaner in chief closely followed by Naibalance,McCulloch, McGregor. It helps them put even more pressure to get decisions. The MIBs are usually compliant enough but they are a gang when they are all at it.

1.Salihi is not first choice at Rapid.

    2. If you deduce 8 goals he scored in Cup games against teams from fifth (maybe fourth) Austrian league you will see that his scoring ratio is poor.

    3. I read on Austrian websites that Salihi and his agent are trying to find new club very hard, and they are sending the gossips.

    4. Rapid coach on Salihi:

I have many options in the squad. Salihi wants to go? If he wants to go he may go. Nobody wants the Albanian here. Since last Summer I heard about many clubs from circa 20 contries who are allegedly interested in Salihi.

    5. Rapid Manager.

Nobody contacted with us regarding Salihi. I haven’t heard about Rangers or Celtic interest in the player. There were no contacts with any clubs.

    6. Celtic need a player who is fit now. Rapid are back to trainings after Winter break. Salihi will be ready to play in early March.

If somebody would ask me the question who from Polish league would I would like to see at Celtic, Foyoot would probably not be on my list, but I asure you he is not bad player. As I said in one of my previous posts, I trust Lennon saw in Foyoot enough good to play for Celtic.

Boruc is probably beter after Celtic days but he can’t get a game for Poland.

Why not sign young and make him excellent player at Celtic? That happened with Boruc. He was not big player when in Poland.

On 4 January 2012, a sub-committee of the SPL Board made various orders relating to late payment of wages due to 14 Heart of Midlothian players. One of those orders was that Heart of Midlothian should make full payment of January salaries due to the 14 players by the due date of 16 January 2012.

The Scottish Premier League has now received confirmation from Heart of Midlothian that the club has failed to comply with this order.

A meeting of the SPL Board of Directors has been called for this evening. At that meeting, the SPL Board will consider the situation and decide upon the appropriate course of action
