Was talking to my mate from Glesga last night and he just triggered a memory.
I forgot how bad a record Celtic had in League Cup Finals under my hero big Jock.
Was it a case of ‘honest mistakes’ being easier to make in one off games or just that the big man didn’t take winning the tournament very seriously?
Regards the “Liquidation”thing.As someone alluded to earlier,if it WAS the company that was liquidated,and not the club,why did the innocent club suffer any repercussions.Surely when a new company then took the club over,it should have carried on as before in the SPL.By this logic,the club would not have been responsible for debts,lies,tax evasion.Equally,the new company would have been innocent of all these things as well.The culprits would have been the old company.No one else.
It does seem so simple you would have thought someone would be going crazy about this shocking injustice,and would have dragged the SFA,SPL,through every court in the land.
Or is someone just making up the “Same club”story.
I am at my wits end with this miscarriage of justice.

Like the alternative approach. Since the SFA/SPL didn’t and cannot demote a club three divisions then the club that entered the bottom division MUST be a new club.

we have good team with lots of talent, we are going for four in a row, we have a black bank balance and can see lots of investment in and around our stadium (doon celtic park today and the place is looking very good)
for those concerned about sevco: all official paperwork relating to rangers state incorporated the ranger 2012. no amount of spin can alter that and I am sure my fellow celtic fans will ensure they never forget. the board may have to play the political game but remember celtic is us and we don’t have to play any games

Just popped in to ask if Paul67’s view that calling Sevco by their died club name is acceptable because Airdrie Utd are now called Airdrieonians?
Airdrieonians were only afforded the opportunity to rebrand as Airdrieonians after 12 years as Airdrie United due to rule bending to accommodate Sevco as a reforming of the died club name.
Anyone and everyone who perpetuates and attempts to mislead us by using Airdrieonians as an example to afford the died club their old name should apply to be renamed DYNAMO!

The answer is that there are two distinct narratives for this scenario…
1) The rest of the sensible world knows that the new club was forced to enter the league in the bottom tier because the previous club was liquidated and ceased to exist.
2) In planet Sevco/Newco/BFDJ et al, the old club were relegated – yes RELEGATED to that division as a punishment for unspecified misdemeanours, and more, they were unfairly relegated as part of a conspiracy which they didn’t deserve.
This lie in option 2) is perpetuated in Newco’s PR, in SMSM, in SFA and SPFL blurbs(when they talk about how many trophies the current club have won etc).
I live in the USA and a neighbor(u)r across the street fancies himself as part Scots and knowledgeable about soccer(football). He spoke to me last week and actually said “Celtic need R******, I mean since R****** were relegated there’s no competition”. Verbatim quote from someone 3000 miles away who has been fed that line as factual.
The lie is promulgated due to a confluence of interests. The SFA, the SPFL, the SMSM, Newco itself, a substantial core of their fans and maybe, just maybe some others….all have something to gain by this rubbish being perceived as factual.
Gutless and compliant media, with honourable exceptions such as Jim Spence, have refused to print the truth, or at best fudge the issue when asked explicitly.
This is Scotland and Scottish Football.

I stayed at the MCI on CQ10 night and found it perfectly acceptable. They were obviously doing some renovation works as the entrance and reception area had some building materials and scaffold about, but the room I had on the ground floor was spotless, comfortable and had a clearly brand new bathroom. Cooked breakfast pretty decent too. Terrific value.

Celtic: Leigh Griffiths has future at club – Neil Lennon
Celtic manager Neil Lennon is confident striker Leigh Griffiths will remain at the club next season.
The SFA charged Griffiths over footage of him singing a song calling former Hearts player Rudi Skacel “a refugee”.
The police are also investigating and Lennon said he would educate the striker on appropriate conduct.
“We will do all we can to help him along. He knows now there is a responsibility to the way he behaves,” said Lennon.
Video also emerged of the 23-year-old striker chanting about the possible liquidation of Hearts.
Griffiths has already been disciplined internally by Celtic and the player has apologised to the Edinburgh club.
“There is no question he has a few issues that we all have in our private life,” added Lennon. “He has been open and frank about it with me.
“At times, I think he gets antagonised by people and he just needs to learn to take a deep breath and walk away.”
Just watched the Tommy Sheridan speech from the other night in Cumbernauld. Very inspiring.
