Supporters Association launch at Holyrood

850

The Scottish Football Supporters’ Association (SFSA), an independent body of pan-club football fans, yesterday launched the first independent evaluation of Scottish football governance, at Holyrood.

The SFSA’s nationwide survey will assess, for the first time, supporters’ views on the current position of the game, including the performance of the game’s governing bodies in Scotland.  The research will become an annual benchmarking & reporting exercise looking at all aspects of the game.

The SFSA’s online survey has been created in partnership with Prof. Dr. Axel Faix and Dr. Joachim Lammert, two experienced German academics who have undertaken similar evaluations on a national level in Germany and on a European level.

The SFSA, whose board includes former First Minister Henry McLeish; former MP and MSP Cathy Jamieson and Maureen McGonigle, Founder of Scottish Women in Sport and first female Scottish FA Council Member, has over 67,000 members supporting clubs across Scotland.

The SFSA is Scotland’s fans’ representative in The Football Supporters Europe network (FSE), an independent, representative and democratically organised grass-roots network of football fans’ in Europe with members in currently 48 countries across the continent.

You have invited to Have Your Say by getting involved with the project here.

Most importantly, you can participate in the survey itself here.

  1. Maybe it’s the drink but reading back tonight I feel depressed and disillusioned by the whole thing.

I’ve loved Celtic and the whole aura that surrounds the Celtic name as long as I can remember now a couple of months short of my 70th Birthday, when things are at an all time high on the pitch, I read a Celtic Blog & feel a stranger.

  2. Burnley78 Fair comment. But I don’t recall any board shutting the jungle for behaviour far worse than was seen on Wednesday night. Hh

Despite the over drama that goes on with everything in modern life, everything is always a big deal, how do these people deal with real problems??

    I’m loving being a Celtic fans, it’s great :O)

    CORKCELT

Supporters are fed up being taken for fools, whatever way you look at it.

The PLC have done nothing but take a back seat.

They have questions to answer, blanking it only encourages bravado from the SFA/HUNS

Quick to call out Celtic fans, but silent on everything else. That cant be right surely?

  6. My take on the situation is

The GB have done nothing differently that any of us over 50 would have done standing in the jungle if we had the technology to make banners easily but they are holding onto that as if it is a badge of honour.

The board are in a situation they are bending over backwards to make sure we dont upset anyone including UEFA, SFA, other clubs apart from our own fans who have paid the money up front.

Why havent the board given more statements on res 12

Why did it take the board to issue a statement about last seasons game after we had sold out season tickets?

Why havent the borad announced that te December 30th game will be home fans only as the travelling support break the rules that the GB are getting barred for and worse everytime they come to our place.

Why havent the board issued a statement on the way our players were attacked at Ibrox last season ans demanded an inquiry into the hatred that day

Why havent the board issued a statement on the way the players were treated last week in Linfield.

Why have the board accepted fines from UEFA without asking why do Barca get away with singing rebs or other clubs can use pyro?

Folk forget two seasons ago we were watching Celtic at hime with less than 3000o in the stadium.. Either the Brendan bounce or a lot of folk missed sevco.

The Green Brigade are by no means innocent… The board are definitley guilty in their lack of support for the club and fans

It’s not the 70/80s any more, the jungle would be closed down today we all know that.

  8. Core beliefs are called “core” because they sit at the core of our being.

They are the mirror of the soul in which we see ourselves reflected and we cannot risk that mirror being shattered because how can we “be” without seeing what we believe?

Our core beliefs get paraded frequently on CQN as does our reluctance to give them up.

There are lots of places on the net to read up on core beliefs but this from

    https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/inviting-monkey-tea/201605/why-surrender-is-so-powerful-and-how-experience-it that says

” Surrender happens when we know that we don’t know anything anymore and certainly not anything that can help us.”

I highlight it because it was realising how little I know compared to all there is to know that I was able to start questioning my core beliefs.

I don’t KNOW the masons run everything. (although as result of more recent experience I am prepared to accept they would love to think they do)

I don’t KNOW that the PLC only want to see the return of “Rangers”. The economic argument that its worth getting £5m from “OF” games at risk of £25M from regular CL involvement does not stand up apart from which I don’t KNOW what goes on at our Board meetings.

I don’t KNOW that Celtic are taking the action re the SFA/SPFL as first suggested to them in 2013 (although I am hoping it will be confirmed).

I don’t KNOW the motivation behind the latest GB banner (although I’d like to)

The guy on the blog referenced is right, start surrendering your core beliefs and you leave the cell that imprisons you.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlDWZqXRoGU at 29.49 in.

If you are looking for evidence of wrong core beliefs, what they deliver and how difficult it is to give them up when reality is screaming “open your closed minds” at you, just look at “The Rangers” and what keeps them going and ask yourself is there any linkage between their battle cry of “No surrender” and who they are?

I can think of a few core beliefs they have that would be best surrendered for their and everyone else’s well being, but for a greater appreciation of the wonder of the human condition the trick is to examine and question our own.

    Very funny.

I paid £25 today for my ticket for Wednesday for the game v Rosenborg BK. Cheeky bastards also take £1.50 booking fee for the time it took me to book it on line. But, I digress.

I’ll make the long drive to paradise on Wednesday to support my team and hope to the big man in the sky that the GB are there to help generate the atmosphere I like on a CL night.

I really care not a jot that you will not be there.

  12. If only our custodians had been so swift and decisive with the cheating and dishonesty of the footballing authorities in Scotland.

That must be kept in a specially built puff powder room.

When will they realise appeasement does not work in a country where the mssm and the vast majority of Scottish people are opposed to your very existence?

The Green Brigade made a mistake but Celtic could easily have set a private meet and addressed the issue instead of a public flogging.

They did the exact opposite to their often stated approach to the cheating authorities.

Celtic fans fighting each other is not helpful and exactly what our enemies want.

Pretty disillusioned that our board have struck the first blow with a divide and conquer strategy.

I don’t respond to your posts usually/ever, but I hàve to take exception to your statement, “the whole of Scotland hates us…”

Who is “Scotland” by your definition?

Anyone who is not a Celtic supporter?

Does that include the 80%(?) say, of people who have no interest in football whatsoever?

My experience is that most people in Scotland, (hun sevco/rangers supporters excepted), have a great admiration for Celtic – if they’ve heard of them.
