Supporters Association launch at Holyrood

850

The Scottish Football Supporters’ Association (SFSA), an independent body of pan-club football fans, yesterday launched the first independent evaluation of Scottish football governance, at Holyrood.

The SFSA’s nationwide survey will assess, for the first time, supporters’ views on the current position of the game, including the performance of the game’s governing bodies in Scotland.  The research will become an annual benchmarking & reporting exercise looking at all aspects of the game.

The SFSA’s online survey has been created in partnership with Prof. Dr. Axel Faix and Dr. Joachim Lammert, two experienced German academics who have undertaken similar evaluations on a national level in Germany and on a European level.

The SFSA, whose board includes former First Minister Henry McLeish; former MP and MSP Cathy Jamieson and Maureen McGonigle, Founder of Scottish Women in Sport and first female Scottish FA Council Member, has over 67,000 members supporting clubs across Scotland.

The SFSA is Scotland’s fans’ representative in The Football Supporters Europe network (FSE), an independent, representative and democratically organised grass-roots network of football fans’ in Europe with members in currently 48 countries across the continent.

You have invited to Have Your Say by getting involved with the project here.

Most importantly, you can participate in the survey itself here.

Big Efe survives a shocking tackle, in other country a red card,

    not in Scotland.

  2. GREEN MAN, Brendan will have us playing so well and scoring so many that the hun officials won’t cope.

Something in all of this should not be overlooked, and that’s how powerful the media can be! Even in Scotland where our mainstream journalists are not even attempting joirnalism! We all see how even they can manipulate and obfuscate. Thankfully we have some very decent, intelligent and well-connected ‘bampot bloggers’ to keep the light on!

In a way, THAT is a bigger story!!! Would it be easier to get rid of the puppets with pens? Would it be easier to expose these Bullshitting Biro Bawbags? If not for them, this mess would’ve been sorted long ago without question.

  5. What is it about pyrotechnic displays the green brigade don’t understand?lets remember they are a minority within the Celtic support and its coming to the point were they will get the ground closed for a champions league game. Some posters have said its the older support who object and sang these songs in the past, there is a lot of behaviour from then that is no longer acceptable now and should stay there. Its the younger element in the green brigade that wants to take us back there.

    Brendan,

Rodgers said: “It’s really disappointing that we are talking about stadium safety and paramilitary banners rather than our progress into the next round of Europe.

“The fans have a responsibility to behave in the stadium and I would urge everyone involved to see the damage this is causing to the club. Hopefully this is a wake-up call.

“The players thrive on the cauldron that the fans create at Celtic Park but there are clearly boundaries that you can’t step over. Everyone knows that pyrotechnics, unacceptable banners and ignoring stewards who are enforcing basic stadium safety measures are simply not on.

Let’s look forward for a minute to Q3 ties in Champions League midweek …

Of the 10 ties, the top 5 feature the teams with highest coefficients [1-5]. These would be the seeded teams in the Play Off round draw [Celtic 2] ,,,

The bottom 5 ties would then produce the 5 unseeded teams – our possible opponents..

    Champions route – Seeded

Partizan (SRB) v Olympiacos (GRE) [1]

Celtic (SCO) [2] v Rosenborg (NOR)

Salzburg (AUT) [3] v Rijeka (CRO)

København (DEN) [4] v Vardar (MKD)

    Hapoel Beer-Sheva (ISR) v Ludogorets (BUL) [5]

    Champions Route – Unseeded

Slavia Praha (CZE) v BATE Borisov (BLR) [6]

Astana (KAZ) v Legia Warszawa (POL) [7]

Viitorul (ROU) v APOEL (CYP) [8]

Maribor (SVN) [9] v FH Hafnarfjördur (ISL)

Taking a positive approach hopefully the ‘display’ on Wednesday night presented the Plc with the opportunity to demonstrate how an efficient rule based organisation operates. We have set the bar high for the SPFL and the SFA in terms of following rules and ‘upholding sporting integrity.’

Hopefully we continue to see such a proactive approach. IMO we need to be a few steps ahead of the vested interests.

    5th July 2017

“We note today’s decision by the Supreme Court. Celtic’s position on this issue has been consistent – that this has always been a matter for the courts of law and also the Scottish football authorities, whose rules are intended to uphold sporting integrity.

“In 2013, we expressed surprise – shared by many observers and supporters of the game – over the findings of the SPL Commission that no competitive or sporting advantage had resulted. Today’s decision only re-affirms that view.

“We are sure now that the footballing authorities in Scotland will wish to review this matter. Celtic awaits the outcome of their review.”

    21st July 2017

“…“There is no room for debate. The safety authorities and the football authorities make the rules. They also enforce the rules…”

Celtic are successful because we don’t operate like a third rate Domino League.

We operate within the rules and expected the authorities to ensure others behave in the same consistent, transparent manner.

Having thoroughly read today’s statement it refers to the Safety Advisory Group of Glasgow City Council on a number of occasions and an Emergency Meeting held after the Hearts game. (Fire Brigade called out). The possibility of the non-renewal of the Safety Cert and the clubs statutory obligation to act after Wednesday.

PL doesn’t mention the banners specifically simply, “In addition to the serious safety concerns, we face further UEFA disciplinary action.”

BR mentions the banners and hopes that ‘this is a wake-up call.’

In addition to UEFA’s bagmen and freeloaders the club also have to deal with Glasgow City Council and the helpful attitude evident there…by Planning Applications and Parking Regulations etc.

The club has to deal with the Hun in more places than the pitch.

Sent a shiver down my spine and left a warm glow in my heart. I’m sure I felt my Da take my hand as I took it all in.

  14. Neganon 2 – Paul is now away on holiday. Me? It is tiresome. We are insisting that the rules are followed and rightly so when it comes to the Supreme Court.

I had a quick look on FF earlier and they are jubilant, fait accompli.

Linfiield and indeed Sevco Rangers have nothing to lose. Their objective was to divide, provoke and see us punished and fight among ourselves.

When we have Brendan speaking up against this banner then that worries me deeply. The manager has family in Northern Ireland and he will not wish them to be dragged into this sort of thing. Would you?

Celtic’s mistake in my view was not flagging this tie up in advance as a conflict match.

Not up for a debate tonight, just logged in to see the reaction.

  15. How a facist works eh?. Threaten the writers, burn their books, then for good measure beat them up or kill them, what a hero. Logically it would now appear that Celtic will ban secco supporters for the next twogames that they appear at Celtic Park, because of their previous loutish behaviour.

    ————————————————-

    Stands to reason.

Those at the helm of the club, can pander to a shower of sectarian and racist ghouls if they so wish. It is foolish in the extreme however to expect the Celtic support to follow their subservient example.

  17. How many games have this incarnation of the Green Brigades attended since inception?

How many – subjective – headline mistakes have they made in all that time? A handful? Half a dozen?

    ‘SOMEONE COULD DIE!’

Celtic board response: Exponential condemnation. Punishment excessive and drastic.

How many games have YOU witnessed the Hun collective bring calculated hate, violence, vadalism, genodcidal ideology, glorification of child abuse, bigotry and the old Klan favourite – racial vilification.

    It’s rhetorical; personally, more than I ever wanted, or wish to remember; those snarling, ugly bastards dragged me into their midst in the stadium car park battle after we pumped them 3-1 in March/April 87 (Grand National day iirc) after the waves of rival colours clashed and then receded along the police line;

the intiial volley of blows fell away as I was hauled to my feet, my scarf mercifully tucking unseen into my jacket; mistook me for one of their own and I had to make my way along London Road with thousands of growling Orcs. Most edgy hour of my life getting through Brigton and ducking for safety on the train to Central.

    Shuffling along with them, young fella, head down, praying for deliverance, I have never experienced such naked hate and loathing of us, our associated religion, anything Irish, anything green come to that. Fermenting insanity as the sounds of battle raged from back at the stadium;

the fardistant spectacle of a double-decker bus swaying to and fro as the advancing Tims made it onto the road below the car park and tried to push the bus over onto the retreating Huns who had gathered on the other side of it and were attempting to shove it back; people leaping out the upper-deck emergency exits, soggy grey sky pulsing with emergency lights, sirens tearing up the rain.

You think the Walking Dead delivers tension when they walk guts-covered among the Zombies; I was there decades before them.

And through the decades, as Scotland’s Shame’s filthy excesses get excused by the compliant, agenda-driven media; failing all the way to save their mutant brothers-in-arms, yet deflecting, delfecting, deflecting with staggering hipocrisy, one thing remains constant; Celtic’s response.

I love what the GB bring to Celtic Park. Do they make mistakes? Yes, and their banner choice on Wednesday was one.

Sandman, Celtics silence is going to cause a large number of supporters to turn their backs.

Do they care? I don’t think they do. They have bean counters who’ll have done the numbers and figured that no matter the rigged product we, the saps will continue to believe the shit they peddle in slogans like “a club like no other”, and will continue to fill their coffers.

Aside from the team on the pitch, there’s very little about Celtic right now that makes me feel they are a club like no other.

  24. ps on a football front yet again instead of building from strength we are going to gamble on qualifying without building a better team. We need a centre half. another centre forward . a replacement for roberts. that is a minimum.. what we have so far is more midfielders…. we scraped through last year and previous time we qualified by the skin of our teeth. oh and Christie should have been given a chance.. i felt the invincible tag held us basck from giving players a run in team. but i understand why we had to try for a once in a lifetime achievement

  25. I was at the game on Wednesday and when I saw the offending banner i must admit I failed to see the point of it but knew it would cause a reaction. The away supporters did indeed react and the atmosphere inside CP heightened and the old rebel singalong began. Imo most of the stadium joined in mainly as a giruy to the away support. In hindsight errors of judgement were made with regard to the GB banner and the songbook however to ban some of our most fervent supporters from CP is an even greater mistAke. We should be advocating the stripping of titles not banning Celtic supporter from CP. Hh
