Supporters Association launch at Holyrood

850

The Scottish Football Supporters’ Association (SFSA), an independent body of pan-club football fans, yesterday launched the first independent evaluation of Scottish football governance, at Holyrood.

The SFSA’s nationwide survey will assess, for the first time, supporters’ views on the current position of the game, including the performance of the game’s governing bodies in Scotland.  The research will become an annual benchmarking & reporting exercise looking at all aspects of the game.

The SFSA’s online survey has been created in partnership with Prof. Dr. Axel Faix and Dr. Joachim Lammert, two experienced German academics who have undertaken similar evaluations on a national level in Germany and on a European level.

The SFSA, whose board includes former First Minister Henry McLeish; former MP and MSP Cathy Jamieson and Maureen McGonigle, Founder of Scottish Women in Sport and first female Scottish FA Council Member, has over 67,000 members supporting clubs across Scotland.

The SFSA is Scotland’s fans’ representative in The Football Supporters Europe network (FSE), an independent, representative and democratically organised grass-roots network of football fans’ in Europe with members in currently 48 countries across the continent.

You have invited to Have Your Say by getting involved with the project here.

Most importantly, you can participate in the survey itself here.

On a different tack, Hibs v Ross County on BT ko 7:45.

    Lenny reckons McGinn worth £4-5 m !

  2. I have no wish to “find you.”

You haven’t addressed a single point I made there, and you’re not going to.

    Too much logic for you?

By the way, I too am easy to find. And it’s funny … you’d think a lot of people would be looking.

I wonder why they don’t bother?

Why is PL stepping down from the SPFL Board?

Have the GB (Or whoever displayed the banners) provided the suits/frauds with an almighty squirrel?

PL on the Bigot 10,000,000 pounds…

“When Rangers went down we took £100 off the season tickets,” Lawwell said. “So that is £4m for two years. The Rangers games, that is at least another £3m. The fact there is a perception among our supporters that there is no competition and you are going to win anyway, and you don’t go to the game, so it could be £10m. We could have lost £10m a year, quite easily, on the back of Rangers going down.”

  4. Having lived through ‘The Troubles’, it was a war and like a process in physics where it was bound to erupt and then 30+ years later get to a stage of equilibrium.

I don’t see it as something that’s ripe for a laugh like, presumably, the banner was trying to.

    3500 dead- on all sides.

  5. You gotta hand it to the board, they know when to play their hand.

This massive overreaction is precisely timed to provide you all with. A suitable squirrel to divide you all and ensure there is no longer a concerted voice when the SPFL make their move (must be so eh).

If there was such a danger at the hearts game then why wait until now? The banner stuff is just nonsense.

This is a ploy by our board to make sure there is no United Celtic support come their ultimate betrayal.

The board are very quick to act decisively against the Celtic support, they constantly lie to us, belittle us, call us criminal racists, give our details to the cops etc. But man they are very Winslow when it comes to dealing with cheating and corruption.

And James Forrest, the bigot pound? It’s not about the Huns on their own. It’s about the boards view that we will buy more tickets and shirts etc as the plucky downtrodden minority, constantly sticking it to the man (PCL prpeseta are a corrupt organisation who will cancel your gig at the drop of a hat and not pay you compensation. Don’t trust them (within whatever rules the man provides of course).

But you knew that James did t you? Have you sold your soul just like paul67?

This is an obvious divide and conquer move. Transparent for this willing to accept the board are as corrupt as the rest of Scottish football.

Someone said its their naw? Yeah it is. Why play with them then?

Every step of this story is shameful and getting worse.

Cmon then winning captains or paul67 give us your view of the board and its utter unwillingness to tackle corruption but it’s zealotry when it co,Es to punishing its own supporters for misdemeanours.

    Ok all.

I’m logging off for the evening, a sad day for the blog with a couple of good posters flouncing.

A disappointing few days overall, with the poor adjectives used, by some,in describing fellow Celtic supporters for having the temerity to hold different opinions.

    Hail Hail.

THE GREEN MAN SAYS SACK THE BOARD on 21ST JULY 2017 7:36 PM

I will ask a simple question, yet again.

‘Why dont the PLC challenge the SFA/ HUN cheating?’

Who says they are not !

Just because you don’t hear about it in the media or your local pub doesn’t mean nothing is happening.

Any company board has a fiduciary duty to their shareholders but that does not mean shouting from the roof tops but operating through channels.

It took HMRC 7 years to get the Supreme Court judgement they targeted.

  10. NEGANON2:

How you doing brother? Good to be talking to you again.

Your general point might have legs, except … no. Because it relies on three things the board couldn’t predict.

    1) The tax case result

    2) The Linfield draw

    3) The Green Brigade’s reaction to the Linfield draw.

I like a good conspiracy theory as much as the next man … but this one’s a little hard to support.

If Celtic cares only about money this is a curious strategy. Because come the start of next season, if it goes like you said, the support will be lacking the following sections.

    1) The Green Brigade itself, and anyone who decides to boycott in sympathy with them

    2) Those fans who are just fed up attending Mortuary Celtic Park

    3) The large and growing number who will chuck it the second they believe our club has thrown in the towel on years of institutional cheating.

Odd way to grow the business :)

Good hearing from you though brother. Hope life’s treating you better than Celtic ;)

  12. James Forrest I had t read your latest post when I posted.

Are you really buying the line that the Huns will never recover?mreally? This whole country will ensure they will and one day, in the not too distant future you will be sitting fuming at a terrible referring decision that gifts the Hun the league and all your impotent rage will be meaningless. Utterly meaningless.

We collectively had this one chance to change it forever. And our own board betrayed us. For what? For money.

Enjoy your seat at the back of the bus.

  13. FWIW

I have no issue with Celtic’s actions today.

You buy a ticket, you play by the rules of the seller. Don’t like the rules? – don’t buy the ticket.

    Safety of fans is PARAMOUNT.

This is an obvious responsibility of the authorities. They will take action against anyone who endangers fans safety.

As such, it is well known that flares are not allowed. Nor is it acceptable to block stairways. Both on safety grounds. Today’s actions are reactive to both the above occurring at recent home games.

Should the club do nothing? And be seen by UEFA to have done nothing to maintain the safety of supporters within its stadium? Surely this would be irresponsible? The club has a duty to maintain acceptable safety standards as set out by the authorities.

I read some posts on here and question the sanity/maturity of the poster.

Then I remember – it’s an internet blog. Posts which appear to be written by juvenile delinquents, probably ARE written by juvenile delinquents.

It’s only a blog. I don’t take other people’s ramblings as anything other than opinion.

  14. THE GREEN MAN SAYS SACK THE BOARD on 21ST JULY 2017 7:49 PM:

    The easy answer to your question is this;

How do you know they haven’t? Perhaps Lawwell is building that coalition as we speak.

The club has made a statement on this. It’s only a statement at the moment, but we’ll look pretty ridiculous if we don’t back it up with some concerted action.

I read a lot into the moves just made on the SPFL board. I see pieces being lined up for a strike.

    But you might be right.

Perhaps nothing whatsoever is going to be done. Maybe this is it.

And in that case, we will meet. On the barricades. ;)

Haha you’re doing it too, and you’re better than that and smarter than that.

The country will see to it that they recover?? Really??

If they had that much juice they wouldn’t have died. Wouldn’t have had to restart in Division 3. Would never have been out of Europe for six years at a cost of millions. Would never have lost their entire squad. Would never have been owned and grafted by Green. Would never have seen Whyte walk out of a courtroom.

They are a two-bob football club, that’s all they are.

Civic Scotland has bigger fish to fry than promoting the sectarian, supremacist sentiments of a rag-bag we’re all better off without.

The only thing that will save them, and restore them, short of a mass outbreak of common sense over there and years to rebuild on the back of it will be sugar daddy style money.

You think Holyrood is going to write them a cheque? Their Masonic brethren?

Who are these people who will come to their aid?

  22. I am fine thanks James. Just back from a week in Paris with the family. Paris is lovely but there are too many French people :). Hope you are well?

With respect it didn’t take those 3 things. The linfield draw is neither here nor there. Celtic were clearly saving up the hearts game last season and it was only a matter of time before the GB did so,etching else controversial (and it was hardly even worth raising an eyebrow over – but it is Scotland).

The tax case result was, in my opinion, only be the outcome it was. It was a decision made outside Scotland for a start and the outcome result went way beyond the Hun. The sfa,SPFL and I am sad to say it the old firm have clearly prepared for it together and put their plans in place.

So here we are on the eve of the SPFL saying move along fenians, and Celtic massively overreact to create division and a nice big juicy squirrel. Sure they are using events to help them but that banner an excuse to ban the GB. Yeah right?

As I say you gotta hand it to them though. This is real Machiavelli stuff. What won’t they do to keep us the downtrodden minority eh?

  27. THE GREEN MAN SAYS SACK THE BOARD on 21ST JULY 2017 8:03 PM:

I’ve been at the party a while brother, believe me.

And you’re right, we’re not stupid. And neither are our board.

But it IS possible they’ve misjudged the mood here, and that this will derail the process.

Look, this issue with the flags is a One Day Story.

When it’s done ten years of cheating will remain a major issue, for all of us.

Nothing is going to divert attention from that.

Besides, if that’s the plan they’ve made a HUGE strategic blunder here.

But they haven’t, cause it’s not a blunder, it’s deliberate.

Re-read the statement they put out tonight. It clearly references respect of the rules, football and otherwise. If this is a distraction from breaches of the rules then it’s a bad one, because I’ll be highlighting that phrase in my articles tomorrow and I imagine all the other bloggers will too.

Celtic is banging the “respect the rules” drum. Yes, welcome, but not if it only applies to our fans.

I see a subliminal hint in the use of that term … and if I’m wrong we have morons in the press office and PR department who’ve furnished our own fans with a stick to beat the club with.

In short, I don’t believe we’ll do nothing.

And if we fight, we’ll win.

  28. Ghordybhoy I was so pleased when we won the invincible treble I had a big party and key going on about history being made etc etc. Now tpeveryone is taking the Mickey out of me about it:).

Buy you know what the football is a sideshow right now to this corruption and cheating. All my life and yours we have been subjected to the racism. The Celtic support and the club was out antidote, our rallying cry. And now, when we have a genuine chance to change it, the people who run Celtic are wantonly betraying us.

It is unforgivable and shameful and CQN is used to push the propaganda and to distract you (if I am wrong Paul then let’s hear it).

James with regards to the Huns, you are underestimating the beating racist heart of Scotland. It may take some time but the cheating will simply resume. Amazed you think otherwise. Civic Scotland? What th hells that.

  29. NEGANON2:
