Supporters Association launch at Holyrood

850

The Scottish Football Supporters’ Association (SFSA), an independent body of pan-club football fans, yesterday launched the first independent evaluation of Scottish football governance, at Holyrood.

The SFSA’s nationwide survey will assess, for the first time, supporters’ views on the current position of the game, including the performance of the game’s governing bodies in Scotland.  The research will become an annual benchmarking & reporting exercise looking at all aspects of the game.

The SFSA’s online survey has been created in partnership with Prof. Dr. Axel Faix and Dr. Joachim Lammert, two experienced German academics who have undertaken similar evaluations on a national level in Germany and on a European level.

The SFSA, whose board includes former First Minister Henry McLeish; former MP and MSP Cathy Jamieson and Maureen McGonigle, Founder of Scottish Women in Sport and first female Scottish FA Council Member, has over 67,000 members supporting clubs across Scotland.

The SFSA is Scotland’s fans’ representative in The Football Supporters Europe network (FSE), an independent, representative and democratically organised grass-roots network of football fans’ in Europe with members in currently 48 countries across the continent.

You have invited to Have Your Say by getting involved with the project here.

Most importantly, you can participate in the survey itself here.

Fanadpatriot / 16roads, I’ve been saying for years, since the bigot orange bastards abused the tribute to Reamonn Gormley at CP in the 2011 3-1 game that we should have a reciprocal no ticket arrangement with the ibrox dirt.

Let them fill their stadium with their filth, when we play them, we’ll still pump them sideways. They should not be allowed into our stadium and if our board had the testicles they would force this on the pricks in the SFA and SPFL.

  4. It’s complicated……..

    1. Outpouring of serious reb songs as a GIRFUY from around the whole ground following a summer of bigoted bile that’s ranged from SS effigies on bonfires to police- supervised famine song through the streets of Glasgow. That wasn’t the GB. That was echoing around Celtic Park. Own it. Don’t deflect that into the GB.

    2. Pyros. Look great but fek up other people’s lungs etc and do constitute and risk to health. They need to stop. Sad but true.

    3. The banners. An error of judgement. And taste. At 19 I did far worse. Key point for me is the inclusion of BR in them. Poor practice to use him as a ‘case study’ without permission. Unprofessional. Lacking in manners. I’d like the GB to have an audience with BR. He’s untainted by accusations of ‘old firmism’ that dog other board members. And he’s truly inspirational. If they’ll listen to anyone…..

    4. GB? On balance a definite positive at CP but with caveats, especially this week. One of the things I wished I’d learned much earlier in life was the ability to say, sorry…I made a mistake. Please forgive me.

    5. The Board? Firm but fair(?) with your own fans….ok then apply the same standards as publicly in your dealings with the hunnery pokery of Scottish football….in waiting….

    Well not such a goodnight

Flabbergasted at some of the so called Celtic fans and their comments at other Celtic fans

Neganon, correct – divide and conquer

Now without getting into the right or wrongs of some Celtic fans

Who is setting the Agenda ? We as a club are following ?

What did a Czech UEFA observer Know of any banner on Wed night ? Bet it wasn’t his report highlighting some banner which I didn’t understand.

Why are Celtic employing stewards or what are the police doing if they cannot keep stairwells clear ? What are we paying these groups for ?

Anyone seen any minutes of any discussion between Celtic and their fans groups ?

Sure some were leaked a couple of seasons ago, which did not make good reading for all involved

There is a max 200 in the green brigade – was there 200 unoccupied seats in one area blocking the stairwells ?

If so wh are another 700 fans being victimised – they are not in the Green Brigade, or was it this group of fans blocking the stairwells ?

Let’s deal with the board statement

Can someone show me the smoke detectors in the roof of the stands, which went off with these flares. ( and I agree the flares have no place in our ground) ?

I see the fire brigade turn up outside the main sand at probably about 75% of our home games – who’s fault is this ? And why ignored ?

Celtic, please deal with the real curse in our game

A corrupt governing body – in my view with lots to back this view up

Some group now acting within UEFA, trying to distract us, and deflect from the real issues

Yes that includes a proven bigot ex ref, and another Observor who started EBT’s and denied knowledge of this

    Now

Is this Celtic now setting the Agenda ???? From a moral high ground ????

And while I’m on a rant

I missed 2 home league games last season – you decided to recognise a new club, at the expense of around 4000 of our own fans, allowed them to abuse our home fans, and destroy parts of our ground, yet welcomed them back

(For me I sat this out, as I do with any League cup or Scottish cup games, not a penny from me for others )

Treat them like any other club – 5% of our tickets is all they need as per SPFL rules

Look after our own fans first

    And stand up for Celtic

Just home from the game in Dingwall.

    From a Ross County perspective:

Defence much better than last season. invention in the last third lacking.

Gardyne our best player now – I’ve still got the e-mail from RioSkorrie in Oct 2006 asking me to keep an eye on this wee ex-Celtic youth we’d just got.

The tackle on Effie…for me 60% red, 40% yellow…..the boy’s foot got the ball but rolled over it.

The Hibee who did Gardyne went straight legged, horizontal, soles first into our boy’s calf. 50% red, 50% yellow.

Neither decision had any affect on the game.

Wee Schalke is still.a diver, and our new Scandinavian 6.5 footer striker is also I’m afraid. First half especially his tactics were to feel “contact” and fall over – all of which the ref ignored thankfuly. He got at least one undeserved free kick in the second half though – as well as a couple of good lay offs.

Star youth has to be Marcus Fraser. Celtic may have given up on him…but what a player he is growing to be. Suppose you’ll get him for pittance if this developement keeps going.

On the current big issues in our game:

The Celtic Linfield draw was never going to end well was it?

For the sake of all that is good in our game: agitate, demonstrate, remonstrate….but for GOODNESS sake, keep together.

  10. It would be a refreshing change if our esteemed custodians just once backed our supporters whose crime was to wave a banner which was considered in poor taste. No one was hurt, no fans invaded the pitch and no bottles were thrown. It’s time we stood our ground. Hh

  11. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

NyeBevan and Bada Bing, that decision by Maclean not to red card the County player who took out Efe was as big a shocker as the foul.

No wonder player can’t express themselves on the pitch when refs don’t do their jobs.

Stating the obvious, we now have the legacy of Shuggie Dallas with his power mad ways and malign influenc.

The banner aside there’s some utter pish being spouted on here about the GB much of which seems smsm derived.

The song sheet? I sit in 405 and many of the songs from the old sheet were not started to my left. There’s a hefty splinter group in the upper JS on the curve who start a lot of the singing. Good on them, any competition for the GB is good. Some of the old songs started there on Wednesday.

Have to agree that singing the bonfire song was a bad move, not because its sectarian, it just such a pish song and embarrassing we here such trip in our stadium.

Plus, singing build a bonfire to those NI bigoted cnuts is not the most sensible thing to do given thei expertise in such matters.

  14. To me this seems like a massive OG.

We appear to tolerate being cheated, having our toilets wrecked, our players having bottles and coins lobbed at them and being subjected to sectarian abuse.

Why were Linfield supporters allowed in after last Friday?

We should have informed them on Saturday morning they were not welcome.

Linfield and Sevco dont deserve our attention, they havent earned any respect for us to notice them.

The GB gave Linfield and our enemies the excuse to attack us on all fronts with that display.

No doubt the young culpits in the GB are rebellious young challenging authority at every turn but like me they’ll need to learn the hard way.

There is a way back, I hope the GB grab the offer with both hands and we can all concentrate our efforts making Celtic as great as we can be.

  17. So a few serial malcontents have their chance for a pathetic whinge at the board whilst the club is performing at an all time high on and off the park. Everyone happy. .

Good to see a few of the usual hunterloper types lending force to celtics malcontent empty vessels. They realise Pedro and Dave won’t beat us this year but reckon winding up a few of those still fighting last century’s battles might stir up a bit if internal chaos.

But wow can the malcontents complain and they love manning the barricades against folk who really do have to make decisions and plot a workable solution for the club in the 21st century. Challenging enough for the custodians dealing with many rivals who seek to negate our well earned position of ascendancy but even more so when we have folk like the attention seeking few deliberately scoring own goals every time the camera is on them. Anyone suggesting the GB did not know what they were doing on Wednesday is misguided in my view.

I love the energy and atmosphere the GB bring. I defy anyone to say they didn’t give Andy Allen and his like an open goal to score re being offended on Wednesday. That doesn’t seem too clever to me.

Celtic can’t ban away fans, especially in Europe.

At least criticise Celtic for something they have control over.

It’s been pointed out numerous times, we choose to play in these UEFA competitions, we love their money, we have to suck up their rules.

  22. CowieBhoy, immediately after the game on Wednesday, UEFA were praising the Celtic support for another great display.

    UEFA tweeted this:

  23. Excluding the 900 is some example of proactive management by the Plc.

They have set the precedent; rules are rules, policies are policies.

If they chase the Sevco £10m per year and ‘stay stum’ they have sold the club and the support down the river.

    Lets see what they do???

Your post is spot on. If you allow me to just add another wee point regards the 900 lockout.

I’ve read all today’s opinions and statements and one thought occurred to me regards the club statement.

Bear with me here what if Brendan made objections to the board about the banners telling them he wasn’t happy about them.

We all seem to be assuming it’s the “provo” banner that’s caused the problem, but what if it was the Brendan one.

Firstly as someone posted earlier he is a proud Northern Irishman with family still living there.

So he may being saying to the board this better not lead to problems for my family. You better sort it out, or i’m off.

Or he may be thinking as a professional football manager my stock has went through the roof after last season,if my image is being associated with paramilitary displays at Celtic Park my stock in the game could nosedive.

Now if any of this was true and you were a member of the board.

    What would you do?

I’m not looking for an argument here but would you rather have the GB maybe doing something else that might cause the club some difficulty in the future or Brendan Rodgers here for 10 in a row.

  27. VFR800 is now a Monster 821 on

Been out this evening but was disappointed (though not too surprised) at the closure of the GB section.

The Club has offered a sacrificial lamb to UEFA (and the SMSM) by their actions. A sledge hammer to crack a chestnut perhaps; but in light of another 2 qualification ties in quick succession, a business decision IMHO.

So maybe it will quell the rage of those “fans” who label other fans as parasites etc. because they don’t agree with their stance.

The atmosphere will be diminished against Rosenberg on Wednesday night and, again IMHO, 900 fans have been scapegoated to make a point. Not nice, but in light of the necessity to ensure the longevity of the standing section maybe something the Club felt they had to do.

I trust that this is the sign that there he PLC Board are saying enough is enough and we will be proactive when the rules are broken; I trust the hen that this will be carried forward to the breach of SFA and SPFL rules by member clubs!

And again Celtic can’t really ban fans, well they can but it gets messy as der hun will then ban our fans. I’d have no problem with that cos who wants to go to that shitehole but plenty on here will disagree about that cos they love their away days :O)

We’d sell out our home games against sevco with no hun away support, I’ve always preferred that option but some fans think the team need an away support.

  30. Nye. No sneaking in for me. I have stopped going. Though ,y wife and kids have just bought ,e a whole load of Celtic stuff for my birthday (I don’t have the heart to tell them).

Winnings thanks for the response. Appeasement of the racists will never work. They hate us. Scotland hates us. Trying to appear reasonable doesn’t work. Doing it while avoiding corruption is particularly galling.

This Celtic board have proven to,e and again their disdain for Celtic supporters. They are dividing us to conquer us. It will probably work. But in years to come I wonder how they will view their greed and disdain.

Sadly our one chance to change it will be wast d and if my daughter choose to stay here their children will experience the same, state sponsored racism. All for money.

I haven’t even started thinking about how Celtic have again not come close to spending any of the money we made last season. Screwing it up time after time after time.

What the hell is Celtic any more? It’s not a football club, it’s not a charity. Is it just a money making vehicle for an already rich Irish business man.

Celtic were well supported in the 70s. And 80s and even late 90s and the MON years all before the GB their attempt and anarchic power grabbing.

Of course they add loads to the game day experience in the drab SPL games etc. however 98% or so of the Celtic crowd will create plenty of atmosphere on Wednesday. 20 repeated posters from uber fans on CQN and a few others who seem to prefer their celtic to enjoy their status as aggrieved losers more than winners will not make much difference to the result on Wednesday.
