Supporters Association launch at Holyrood

850

The Scottish Football Supporters’ Association (SFSA), an independent body of pan-club football fans, yesterday launched the first independent evaluation of Scottish football governance, at Holyrood.

The SFSA’s nationwide survey will assess, for the first time, supporters’ views on the current position of the game, including the performance of the game’s governing bodies in Scotland.  The research will become an annual benchmarking & reporting exercise looking at all aspects of the game.

The SFSA’s online survey has been created in partnership with Prof. Dr. Axel Faix and Dr. Joachim Lammert, two experienced German academics who have undertaken similar evaluations on a national level in Germany and on a European level.

The SFSA, whose board includes former First Minister Henry McLeish; former MP and MSP Cathy Jamieson and Maureen McGonigle, Founder of Scottish Women in Sport and first female Scottish FA Council Member, has over 67,000 members supporting clubs across Scotland.

The SFSA is Scotland’s fans’ representative in The Football Supporters Europe network (FSE), an independent, representative and democratically organised grass-roots network of football fans’ in Europe with members in currently 48 countries across the continent.

You have invited to Have Your Say by getting involved with the project here.

Most importantly, you can participate in the survey itself here.

Let me rephrase the last part for you.

Why ,in your opinion has Peter Lawwell been silent on the issues I mentioned.

Did he comment on the objects thrown at Leigh Griffiths at Linfield?

It was you who mentioned PL in this exchange hence the content of my reply.

    =============================================

    Obfuscation on your part .

You wish to change the subject

    Why ?

Because you don`t have a leg to stand on with the issue under discussion ?

    Banners.

    Green Brigade.

    Uefa Sanctions.

    Response from P.L.

You wish me to ” guess ” why P.L. has been ” silent ” ?

    Why ?

Of what possible value is my opinion in relation to these matters.

I do not harbour delusions of grandeur.

How about the CQN chattering classes. Including your goodself ?

Brendan Rodgers should stick to football matters and not get dragged into the politics.

    Jeeeeeezus .

Now I`ve heard it all .

and Brendan could have responded that he deals with the football players and coaching staff there is a PR department that is responsible to deal with publicity matters, so the whataboutery is only useful if people think it supports their point or accusing people of using which in this case simply identifies its meaning is lost.

Maybe Celtic should stick to football matters and not get dragged into politics .

our supporters should stick to football matters and not get dragged into politics.

Maybe the G.B. should stick to football and not get dragged into politics

    Maybe .

  5. Brendan was dragged into the politics by banners hoisted by the section you are desperately trying to defend, whatabouterie, squirrels, call it what you like, it’s undefendable.

Play by the rules, you like the Uni Ultras obviously have a problem with that yes/no?

  6. My friends in Celtic,

Brendan Rodgers has expressed exactly the same sentiment as many on here who have been called “handwringers ”

    Makes you wonder

That needs to be read by a wider audience .

Did he say anything in condemnation about the fact that in 2017 we couldn’t let our supporters go to a football match because our very existence there might provoke the intellectually bankrupt supporters of Linfield to attack us?

    …………………………………………………………………………………………………

So PL is going to solve the North of Ireland next – some bhoy our Peter.

You brought PL into the discussion not me. Please try and keep know, there’s a good chap.

His silence on those issues I mentioned is telling and in stark contrast to the quick response re the green brigade .

Let me spell it out for you.

The attacks and attempted attacks that we’ve seen on our players doesn’t carry much if any potential financial loss for us. In otherwords their welfare seems to be of much less importance to our plc. Certainly not worthy of any public criticism by our board to my knowledge.

The actions of the GB do.

It’s all about the money honey.

    Thats my last on it

We have the best prospects ahead of us , my fellow Tims.

Can`t we just relish that without the divisive acrimony ?

  11. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Macjay,

of course it is but the point stands whether you like or agree with it or not, there have been many many occasions where managers have told the meeja that their job is to deal with the players and coaching staff which is correct and they will not be fielding question about other issues. So if they want to get involved in politics then their opinion is just that and no more relevant than any one else’s, in fact it could be considered compromised as they are simply parroting their paymasters message, its a bit like you thinking there is a master race and everyone should know their place when it comes to hierarchy, meritocracy is not in your vocabulary your still in the middle ages like our orange neighbors, people are born into their place and should accept it.

Well not me I do not cow-tow to anyone and I don’t take lectures from money worshipers like yourself.

We might just have witnessed the beginning of the end of BR’s love affair with Celtic – he is a man who does not like to be offended. If he does go – who will the GB get to replace him?

  13. Quiz question:

Name one football club that is not out to make as much money as it can?

  14. Back in the Lisbon Lions era there was an unbelivable atmosphere at Celtic Park. Singing noise chanting.

But it wasnt a place for the faint-hearted. Over crowding ,being crushed against barriers were normal. Bottles and cans being lobbed towards the pitch but falling short on fans. Urinating on the terraces (down the back of your leg) and coming out of the ground through a waterfall of piss raining down from the upper terracing.

The good old days – before the Green Brigade!

And I don`t kowtow to the ideological entryists whose selfish pursuit of THEIR views has been imposed on Celtic to the huge detriment of OUR Celtic .

This has caused damage to Celtic and division amongst ourselves.

It continues to do so .

    You happy with that ?

    The question.

Will the G.B. discontinue it`s destructive activities ?

PS. Canamalar. :)))))). That was funny.

  23. Orangemen attending last week’s Twelfth celebrations in Lisbellaw were warned if they reject God’s offer of salvation then “tragically when you die your soul is lost in hell forever.”

They were advised to “reject and repudiate the superstitions of Rome” in an article published in a special souvenir programme to mark the event.

The article, previously published in the Orange Standard, focused on why Protestants “should not use” the term ‘rest in peace’ when discussing the dead on social media.

County Grand Master of County Fermanagh Grand Orange Lodge Stuart Brooker said the message in the article was “very clear and well put together.”

The article stated that while the term is “probably being used in all innocence and sincerity it is further illustration of spiritual confusion within Protestant circles.”

“The letters ‘RIP’ meaning ‘Requiescant in pace’ or ‘rest in peace’, have long been used by the Roman Catholic Church, and can be frequently seen, for example, in death notices and gravestones.

“However, the use of ‘RIP’ has become more widespread in recent years and it is now often quoted by many Protestants on the social media sites Facebook and Twitter,” stated the article.

The article warned that if God’s offer of salvation has been “rejected” then “tragically when you die your soul is lost in hell forever.”

“This is what the Bible teaches, and there is no Biblical warrant for praying for the dead or for wishing that their soul might ‘rest in peace’.

“The redeemed do not need our prayers, and the lost cannot benefit from them once they have passed from us. We would be better to pray more for them while they are alive.

“Let us reject and repudiate the superstitions of Rome and remain faithful to the clear teaching of the word of God,” the article added.

Asked for his thoughts on the article, which was available in the 120 page programme last week, Mr. Brooker said: “I think the message in the article is very clear and well put together, and I couldn’t add anything further to it. This article clearly explains why we as Protestants, and members of the Orange Institution, shouldn’t use the term ‘RIP’. It also reminds us that if we need guidance in any matter, we should refer to what the bible teaches.”

I hope you are right and that I can get a job as a stand up comedian or apply to join DENSA.

  28. The Green Brigade have brought great colour and some memorable tifos to Celtic Park, and I think the vast majority of fans would hope they would stay.

But, by God, they aren’t the brightest. To conspire to lose the moral high ground against Linfield – Linfield!- takes some doing. And I wonder how Brendan feels about being turned into the subject of a PIRA poster? Did they ask him his thoughts on this, given that I suspect his and his family’s experiences of the Troubles outweighs the GB’s..?

There is also a terrible arrogance in their stance. It must have been clear to them that those banners would attract financial sanction. Yet they did it anyway, confident in the notion that all of us, via our Club, would pick up the tab for their behaviour.

I’ve been a season ticket holder for over 20 years, and attended many a game in the old stadium. Celtic Park was a great place to watch football before the GB, and it will remain so if they disappear.

But hopefully, that won’t happen, and good sense prevails.
