Tax cheats and self-serving Help

673

Well, at least we don’t live in Spain, where tax fraud convicts are lauded like some sort of distorted victim if they have a connection to football. No one really expected Leonel Messi to go to prison, accountability in Spain isn’t that exacting, but he will have to live with a conviction for defrauding the tax system of millions of euros. A shameful act for one so wealthy.

I’ve always been a bit uncomfortable at the politicisation (from all sides) of the poppy and charities like Help for Heroes. Society has been poor at looking after its literal cannon fodder in the 100 years since the Somme, but flag wavers around these parts have imposed political sentiment on these charities which doesn’t exist elsewhere in the UK.

Four years on from the infamous Rangers-Milan legends supposed charity match, James Doleman’s article yesterday, on the unauthorised use of Help for Heroes logos on t-shirts, gives us more to ponder. It’s impossible to damage a brand which is already at junk value, but activity like this makes it difficult for all good causes to make their appeals.

Was just making the point that Bitton’s nationality had nothing to do with my opinion that he should be sold.

  7. So much for stories of Johansen going to Galatasaray, Ambrose to Leverkusen and Bitton to Espanyol

Starting line up looks like a 4-3-3 again with Dembele starting alongside Griffiths. 15 subs listed so changes at HT again.

Players are in shop window and proving fitness during pre season friendlies. I think the line up on Saturday, our final game before CLQ, will hint at Brendan’s thoughts.

Transfer window is open for another 8 weeks but players eligible for our 2 Q2 ties must be registered by 11 pm Thursday.

Jambos 2-0 up after 8 minutes over in Estonia. Every coefficient point is valuable for us

  12. I think the fact that all three are starting suggests that they are a lot further from being sold than many think (press included).

Just logged on to the betting site, was going to stick a few bob on Hartz, thot the KO was at 6, they are 2 up, odds are a joke now.

    =======================

    ffs TET.

I was of the same mind – didn’t realise they’d kicked off until now – thought it was back of 6.

Was only going to stick a loose betting account tenner on them but thought I’d at least double it.

What price did you see them at?

  14. Sandman

I didn’t see the odds before, I just had a feeling they would win and like yourself thot I would at least double my money.

    1/22 just now

  15. Was hoping we had some players out the door with recent reports, doesn’t seem to be the case.

I was big fan of bitton, wanted him in the team long before he was a regular.. Nice neat player but his faking hamstring injury in the cup semi final says a lot. Hopefully he is gone ASAP .

  16. Hi bhoys

They will be no push overs this year for sevco, Got to laugh with the talk about we are going for the title. Herts are stronger than they were two seasons ago and sevco are weaker and i wont even mention motherwell or Dons. Top 4 if they are lucky and honest mistakes are at 100%

Looking forward to seeing Dembele with Leigh. I hope he’s a star, a young lad, at a big club. He might need a wee bit of time to settle down, there again it would be great if he scored and gave the trolls something else to think about.

Couldn’t believe my eyes when I read that Lionbrand shower have been selling Lee Rigby polo shirts.

    They really are some lot.
