For a decade or more Celtic produced prodigious youth teams but watched as Dundee United, Hibs, Hearts even Hamilton Accies graduated more effective adult players. Key to this is perhaps ensuring that players are tested at a higher level at key times in their development. In short, if you have not played regular first team football by the time you are 22 there is a good chance you will not fulfil your potential.
There is cost to this development, you’re not going to win all the time, especially when the two teenage central midfielders are surrounded by other young players: Adam Matthews, 20, Tony Watt, 18 and James Forrest, 21. Half time substitute, Victor Wanyama, is still only 21.
I’m looking forward to seeing more teenage kicks in the coming months.

Broonie is essential to Celtic. Celtic currently have players that, individually, are better than Broonie. Broonie, apart from Big Fraser is the first name on the team sheet as he is the Capitano and has earned that distinction.
I have been very impressed how he has really grown into the Captain’s role.
If he is having to take Cortisone injections to play, then I’d rather we came 4th in the CL group than ruin his health in the future.

What the other posters were complaining about was the relentless negativity of a section of the HOME support. The Green Brigade does not behave that way nor does the away support, though it may have other faults.
We hear numerous opposing managers commenting on the way to defeat Celtic is to get the home crowd worried and critical. And these muppets do exactly what opposing managers want. They’ve paid their money and declared their rights as customers to object.
Now, I am no paragon. I get frustrated by the play of a lot of Celts but, after murmuring my disapproval, I get back to clapping and cheering us on. And, believe it or not, these loudmouths will criticise you for supporting- “Why are you clapping that bunch of losers?”
