The F word and the C word

641

I see a justification for yesterday’s vote has been issued.  The chairman of one club spoke to several of my contacts in the media with a completely different version, using both the F word and the C word.

Apparently he believes several SPL clubs are being led by the C word – Celtic.  Or to be more precise, “F***ing Celtic”, a name reserved for use by a specific demographic.  All off the record, of course, but incredibly indiscrete, betraying his world view.

If that’s how you feel, man up and say so publicly.  Tell us who you think is really bringing Scottish football to its knees, I am sure everyone will agree this is a time for frankness.

Basically, and apart from just spitefully wanting to shaft any SPL etc initiative(s), greengo would not have been able to / justified in hiking up SB prices if sevco were still playing the same teams in the bottom rung ….. and that would have been financially catastrophic for his pension pot……

    4. Campaign to fast track Sevco huns gathers support. Except it looks like this last bit isn’t going to happen.

Alternatively 12-12-18 involves Sevco huns remaining in lowest division playing much the same teams as this season. This offends huns sense of self entitlement (WATP) and therefore cannot be allowed to happen.

I agree to an extent but for most the issue seems to be the nature of the about-turn by Gilmour, coincidentally after Challs popped up at our trip to SM.

That, coupled with the fact SM were forced to move after Craigy bhoys lawyer was found in Feb 2012 in the SM boardroom up to his elbows in the SM accounts – presumably without having had to force entry – would suggest that we have every right to be sceptical of Gilmour’s motives.

  7. Morning all. Another wet one down here.

Has there been word from Celtic about how tickets for the Final will be allocated? Do you have to apply for one or, if you’re a SB holder, will your name be put in a ballot? Is there any criteria?

  9. Morning,

Starting to look forward to Sunday now. Today is when Philmac thought another nail would be driven into the Sevco coffin.

Read Gilmour comments, you would think his club was the Man Utd of Scotland and playing in front of 70,000 with the objections he says made him vote no.

Usually a ballot for ST holders, with those who went to semi final and other home ties given priority. Will probably be a 50/50 split of tickets so we’ll only get around 20k tickets. Would doubt there will be a public sale.

I think if St Mirren wish to vote against the proposals then they are perfectly entitled to do so; what is less acceptable is for them to act on behalf of the interests of another club, which shall be nameless,as a result of pressure or inducements brought to bear by the nameless club under the delusion that Scottish football needs them, and needs them to be in charge.

The FAC Rally showed how fans feel about the ill thought out nature of this Bill. It is a ridiculous and, perhaps more important, an unnecessary piece of legislation.

The Rally also showed that a small. unobtrusive police presence worked far, far better than the over the top show of strength in evidence on the Gallowgate just a few weeks earlier.

  20. Roy McGregor & Ross County – stated their concern over league reconstruction proposal, the selling of ST to their supporters based on new set up, said they were happy with 80% of proposal, spoke to fans and stakeholders and decided to vote against. Have been consistent in their view from an early stage of process.

Result, very little, if any, flak.

Stewart Gilmour – came out with opposition to league reconstruction proposal one week before vote, went public with no discussion with others. Change of mind occurred after Chuckles visited St Mirren Park for our game (coincidence?), this following a director (now ex) of St Mirren passing financial information to a representative of Our Hero. Gilmour’s main issue with proposal, as stated on Sportsound last week, was 11-1 voting structure. This is removed but he still votes against. Says he wants a 14 team top league (guess who else is punting this option??). He was also almost heartbroken when Sevco didn’t get entry into SFL1 last summer, though he is trying to re-write history on that one.

Result, maelstrom of flak, deeply suspicious SPL clubs over his motives, supporters of other clubs questioning link with Sevco. General perception is that he is not telling the whole truth.

Its not the no vote, its what’s behind the no vote.

On the flip side of that, between those two clubs, they’ll turnover about £30m from gate receipts this season. Compare that with around £140m (all-in, inc CL money) from TV.

If their fans want to whinge and whine about TV scheduling, pass us that TV money and we’ll see where it all goes from that point onwards.
