So how about this scenario, Celtic Youths are trailing in their league with 10 games to go when they register three new players, but someone’s ‘at it’. The players are all over-age but the date of birth on their registration forms have been incorrectly completed, so the players are registered and become eligible to play the remaining games. Celtic Youths win their remaining games and win the league.
At the end of the season the deception is uncovered. The people responsible for filling the forms out incorrectly are criticised but one is president of the Scottish Football Association, who give evidence to an inquiry that as the Association registered the players, the results must stand.
Time to “draw a line under it” is the line from the SFA chief executive, hoping with all his might that no one mentions the Scottish Youth Cup games the players also played in, which would invoke a parallel punishment to the one recently imposed on Spartans Youths for exactly the same offence in the same competition. The chief exec also dismisses attempts to call those criticised by the inquiry to account as scapegoating.
Ridiculous? Of course, but this is what we’ve just experienced, with another club, of course.
Challenging the verdict, if possible, is a worthwhile endeavour but it will only treat one symptom of the many issues facing Scottish Premier League clubs, who could be forgiven for losing the will to compete within the rules. Fans of several SPL clubs now believe their best interests are served by playing in an environment beyond Scotland – for a whole range of reasons.
We have to work with fans of other clubs to make the case for the SPL, as a unit, to leave Scottish football (I see cross-club initiatives are already underway).
On a completely unrelated question, if you had £21m in the bank late last year, and you were burning cash at £1m per month, which year would you run out of money?

My experience of the Pop Shop was very similar. Instead of using the dinner money my mother gave me to buy a dinner ticket which would have got me a two course meal every day of the school week, I spent it all in the Pop Shop on Ginger cake and whatever the other iced one was called. The last of the money went on Wednesday and I starved Thursday and Friday ! When I moved to Baroney Street ( We pronounced it Barney), I became a dinner monitor and ate properly for my final six months 0:-)

During the latter stages of the war my mother was a trainee teacher in La Spezia – a major Italian naval base – and she spent every night for months in an air raid shelter.

OK troops – just got confirmed tickets for me and Wee BGFC for Ross County this weekend – woo-hoo!!!
Not sure on travel yet, but might go up on Friday afternoon. Are there any good, Hoops-friendly places in the Inverness / Dingwall area for me and the wee man (pre-requisite is beer for me – Lent is officially suspended!!).

I hope that our club gets the other S.P.L. clubs to rally round and challenge the nonsense of the Lord Nimmo judgement on the following grounds –
– That they gained no ‘football’ benefits from the non- disclosure of the dual contracts ;
– The continued participation of Campbell Ogilvie in S.F.A. affairs after the judge’s condemnation of the activities of the Ranger’s Board of Directors,
of which he was a prominent member;
– The breaches of S.P.L./S.F.A. rules and regulations;
– The need to change the ludicrous S.F.A. regulations on registration:
– The breach of U.E.F.A’s regulations in European matches.
I think that this provides an adequate agenda which should gain the interest and support of other clubs. I would imagine the help of an eagle-eyed lawyer of the style of the late Paul McBride woud be vey helpful.

Can anyone recommend a good hotel in or around Glasgow City Centre? Looking for something with a bit of character/history for a group of 10 people, staying 3 nights in August.

Juve 3 zero up from the first leg, on Wednesday all they need to do is sit in, invite us to come on down and hit us on the break, its what they do, its their speciality, and if we go there with all guns blazing we will be walking into a trap that’s lit up in big neon lights shouting at us DANGER.
Juve would probably give us a nil nil now and I expect that’s going to be their plan A – its the least they will settle for. We should have stuck to the Barcelona game plan when we played them at Parkhead, maybe we should give that a go on Wed night.
