Speaking at the weekend, Kenny McDowell looked ahead to the cup semi-final saying “We aren’t going into the game fearing a big defeat. If anything we are going into the game knowing we’ll have to be on our guard and wary of that, but we are not going into it fearing of losing by a big score-line”.
Admitting that he’s wary about the prospect of a big defeat is the last thing you want your manager to say publicly as you prepare for a cup tie. It conditions everyone to the prospect of defeat.
From Ronny, it’s all positive: “It’s going to be fun.
“It’s good that this is a big game, so we won’t be underestimating the opponent.
“We are in a good position, we can win everything and that motivates.”
Big games, big results, are often won in the head before a team takes to the field. You win because you know you’re going to win, because you know you can rely on your team-mates. You know that if you do your job correctly, there is nothing the opposition can do, short of elbowing you in the face and hope you retaliate.
No game of football is easy and Ronny and the players will know they will have to work for anything they get on Sunday, but the preparatory work has been done. The players are fit, rested and can’t wait for Sunday.
On a side note, I can’t believe how thoroughly the New Club advert has penetrated media coverage this week. On top of Motivator McDowell, can you imagine ‘ex-players’, pundits and fans having to explain their existence and relevance in the run up to a semi-final? This wasn’t a crowd-source advert, it was crowd-sourced media management, which ran rings around the best paid PRs in the business.

I too, am doing my best to ignore the disgraceful build up to Sunday’s game. However it is very difficult unless I maintain total “radio silence”. From what I’ve heard, seen and read to date, the the SMSM and now BBC’s Radio Five are falling over themselves to promote the Big Lie and the “Return of the Old Firm” marks an important milestone in the campaign to convince the wider public that the new club is the same as the old club and normal business will soon be resumed. Nobody running Scottish Football or the SMSM give a monkey’s feck about the millions still owed to the 276 creditors as long as facts can be turned on their head and history re-written.
I am not sure what I will be doing at 1.30pm on Sunday but I am sure of this. I will not be part of the Big Lie in any way shape or form. If this continues like this, to me Scottish Football is no more credible that World Wide Entertainment (WWE) wrestling. All I want is my club to stand by its supporters and challenge the Big Lie. Personally, I would rather they did this and did not win on Sunday than say nothing and gub them. Of course, I know this former is not going to happen, sadly.
They were talking about fracking on QT there. BP, Shell, Exxon or wee Jimmy Oil n Gas inc wi a drill bit are welcome to come up here and frack till their hearts are content under ma hoose.
As long as they pony up.

Recently it’s a game about 5yrs ago in Manchester when we taught them how to sing, unfortunately we did the usual ra songs instead of the mostly Celtic FC songs we normally sing.
The young Celts living in England feel the need to go up the ra, it’s not the Celtic way IMO.
Ps I love the Bhoys of the old Brigade and I love Celtic, time for space between them.
