The rascal Neil Lennon

771

What a rascal that Neil Lennon is, laughing off interest in Amido Balde while leading us all down the Kevin Doyle road last week, then Amido pitches up at Celtic Park, complete with obligatory Celtic scarf, before heading for some scans and time plugged -up with on the running machine today.

Amido’s road to Celtic Park has not been straight.  He was released by Sporting Lisbon last year without kicking a ball for them, but he has spent a year in a competitive league playing against some Champions League defences, so Celtic will have a fair idea of what kind of player he is.

Does he have the technique?  Does he have the physique?  Does he have the temperament?   John Park and the scouts will have given Neil Lennon lots of information on these elements of Amido, so there should be no surprises.

This is even more true of Balde than of last season’s twin striking signings, Lassad and Miku (trivia question of the future, Who led the line for Celtic when they beat Barcelona in 2012?).  Both arrived in the final days of the window, with options expiring all around and beggars choosing.

As always, the most important hope for any transfer window is that the manager and scouts get their first choices.  That assured, we’ll do alright.

11 June and first piece of transfer speculation. Held the tide as long as I could.

We have a special Father’s Day offer for the Willie Wallace book.  Order between now and Thursday morning and we’ll include a Father’s Day card, complete with your own message. See the big graphic to the right..

There was a time on this blog when I felt that there were very few posters who came close to sharing my views.

Yourself and P8ddy were two of the few.

I am of the belief that Celtic are “working the room ” from within.

They are keeping CO and his SFA cabal onside,so that they will NOT cause problems when our day to jump ship to another league comes.

I also believe that they are quietly driving change from within.

I share some of your frustrations because there is no tangible proof of my belief.

Celtic will not go to war publicly.

The long game is in play.

I am reasonably confident of this.

My greatest concern at present is that PL stays at Celtic long enough to ensure his long game strategy succeeds.

The story of him moving to Man U has not been denied by him or Celtic.

    Evening Celticfrustationnews

How are we all tonight? I see a long game in place. Why raise your head above when Charlotte is about?

Neganon-keep posting your views. Even if it is rubbish and I am not saying it is (all the time) it provides a balance.

  3. Amido hasn’t signed yet but he is happily tweeting away so it looks as if all is well. Saw a piece in an Irish Tabloid that Cadette is claiming he saved Celtic 1.2 million on the transfer by alerting Lenny to the fact that Balde had a 1.8 million buy out clause in his contract even though his Club were asking 3 million. Re SFA corruption and anti-Celtic bias, it was always so, we must continue to expose it and fight it of course but we should never leave it divide us.

ASonOfDan @ 21:00 – his post is a brief synopsis of the new ‘professional’ set-up.

The idea should in effect remove a substantial number of incumbents at Hampdump (SFA/SPL) – their ‘areas’ of influence to be replaced by a new SPL set-up.

Like everything else – who gets appointed – their remit and sphere of governance remains to be clarified. However IMO the financial concessions (particularly by CFC) have not been made without purpose.

Rome wasn’t built in a day CSC!

    From BBC

“Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward will assume Gill’s responsibilities.”

Former banker Woodward, 40, joined United in 2005, initially focusing on developing the growth strategy of the club before assuming responsibility for the commercial and media operations in 2007. He was elected to the board of directors the following year.

“I’m delighted Ed has accepted the role,” he added. “I have worked with him for more than seven years.

“I am looking forward to continuing my involvement on the club board and I hope to be able to make a contribution to the game on a wider national and European level.”

Sharp suited man to continue I hope..

No we don’t……BDO / the Courts / TTT need to act ……and we need to go on resisting what we have resisted for over 100 years…….. No matter what our Board might do, it won’t stop the anti all things Celtic / Irish / Catholic in certain corners of Scottish society…… Bring it on, because it has brought their favoured team to destruction, and it will the rest of them to destruction…..leave them to it …. When it comes to Campbell Ogilvie it seems to me that some of us are confident that the club have the issue in hand. It will all be resolved in good time.

Some of us on the other hand want to fight because we’re feeling a bit like this tonight.

  18. Reading some of the post you would think Rangers have won the CL or will in 5 years.

They brought their woes upon themselves and unless the mindset changes they always will and if their mindset changes we will have nothing to moan about.

  19. Last post for a week. Have a 2am start so need to try & get my head down for a couple of hours. My parting message

“We are children of a fighting race,

that never yet has known disgrace,

and as we march, the foe to face,

We will chant a Soldiers Song.

“I will still be there but we are going to have to think of a way to protest both about the SFA and about our Board’s inaction and silence. The Aberdeen fans were right when they told us “your silence is deafening”.”

That’s fair enough. But it is going to take a lot of organising and plenty of will from people to do it.
