The rascal Neil Lennon

771

What a rascal that Neil Lennon is, laughing off interest in Amido Balde while leading us all down the Kevin Doyle road last week, then Amido pitches up at Celtic Park, complete with obligatory Celtic scarf, before heading for some scans and time plugged -up with on the running machine today.

Amido’s road to Celtic Park has not been straight.  He was released by Sporting Lisbon last year without kicking a ball for them, but he has spent a year in a competitive league playing against some Champions League defences, so Celtic will have a fair idea of what kind of player he is.

Does he have the technique?  Does he have the physique?  Does he have the temperament?   John Park and the scouts will have given Neil Lennon lots of information on these elements of Amido, so there should be no surprises.

This is even more true of Balde than of last season’s twin striking signings, Lassad and Miku (trivia question of the future, Who led the line for Celtic when they beat Barcelona in 2012?).  Both arrived in the final days of the window, with options expiring all around and beggars choosing.

As always, the most important hope for any transfer window is that the manager and scouts get their first choices.  That assured, we’ll do alright.

11 June and first piece of transfer speculation. Held the tide as long as I could.

We have a special Father’s Day offer for the Willie Wallace book.  Order between now and Thursday morning and we’ll include a Father’s Day card, complete with your own message. See the big graphic to the right..

“I would blame PL for a few things masel, but I know he is acting under orders, still whatever, I would rather he is on our side.

“I don’t honestly know what to make of the charade that is scottish football just now.

“Sometimes I think we are as bad as the rest with our silence, the next minute, I think we are doing the right thing.

“Only time will tell mi amigo.

“And I pray the suits have backed the right horse.”

Same here on Peter Lawwell – but I would be concerned if I agreed with everything he did.

But it is amazing just how much stick he gets considering where our club is at the moment. I understand it coming from Zombies – let’s face it they look to hate before any other option is considered.

It is hard to know what is going on without the facts – we are all guessing really. Ogilvie’s involvement in the dual contract scandal is unacceptable and it is frustrating that he is too thick skinned to do the decent thing.

As far as other issues go – I reckon Celtic have adopted the correct approach – especially as most of it had nothing to do with us anyway.

I didn’t either, and I am eternally grateful for it.

It’s their total contempt for honesty that gets me, I really shouldn’t be surprised mind you.

    I agree 100%.

We are in a position not of our making, and while I want us to be more pro active, I want to believe that we are working our ticket.

I know that we have wanted out for years, that is no secret, and I also know for a fact, that if the huns hadn’t gone on the rampage in Manchester, both clubs would have had an invite to the second tier.

They blew it, just like all they touch.

I am enjoying their pain, long may it continue.

Look under Portugal rather than Lisbon. O’Gilins is close to the main rail station and terminus of the green metro line. Not great, but it is Irish.

    Best of luck!

  11. I was told by a very reliable source, about twenty years ago, of a situation when a , now retired sports writer was summonsed by his editor, from holiday.

The writer had written a critical article about David Murray, who complained to the editor.

He was given a stern warning about the content and told to submit any future articles to the editor before going to print.

I believe the paper involved was the Daily Express.

So you can see that the practise of vetting hun copy goes back a long way.

  12. Papa John

    All good thanks.

    Am a tad further in than the Nevadas, more like the Castrils, and no not a single one, and there will never be one >}

Give me a shout the next time you are over, maybes we could meet up half way for a beer or two, or you cold just get yersell up here and see Spain at it’s rawest.

  14. I have enjoyed reading through the comments this evening. My observations are:-

    1. Look at the calibre and business acumen of our board compared to 20 years ago.

    2. Look at the battles we had with the SFA in the 1950’s. Could anyone now imagine an SFA official telling us to take a flag down?

    3. Fergus got rid of Farry. We shamed the SFA into getting rid of Dallas.

    4. CO is damaged goods. Better having him in plain sight than some other brother wielding a new broom.

    5. The huns are deid.

All in all, we should be content. HH

  15. What about a demonstration at the next Scotland home game, probably not at Hampden, may even be at Celtic Park? Could be a good opportunity for loads of publicity.

Murray liked to bully alright. He is such a hateful character, but I am delighted that he totally ruined the Huns.

About five years ago a mate of mine in England, who wrote something factual Murray didn’t like was called into his editor’s office and informed Moonbeams’ lawyers had been in touch ‘demanding an apology in print’.

They were told politely where to go. That would not have happened in Scotland.

  17. Night cqn..

    God bless.
