The rascal Neil Lennon

771

What a rascal that Neil Lennon is, laughing off interest in Amido Balde while leading us all down the Kevin Doyle road last week, then Amido pitches up at Celtic Park, complete with obligatory Celtic scarf, before heading for some scans and time plugged -up with on the running machine today.

Amido’s road to Celtic Park has not been straight.  He was released by Sporting Lisbon last year without kicking a ball for them, but he has spent a year in a competitive league playing against some Champions League defences, so Celtic will have a fair idea of what kind of player he is.

Does he have the technique?  Does he have the physique?  Does he have the temperament?   John Park and the scouts will have given Neil Lennon lots of information on these elements of Amido, so there should be no surprises.

This is even more true of Balde than of last season’s twin striking signings, Lassad and Miku (trivia question of the future, Who led the line for Celtic when they beat Barcelona in 2012?).  Both arrived in the final days of the window, with options expiring all around and beggars choosing.

As always, the most important hope for any transfer window is that the manager and scouts get their first choices.  That assured, we’ll do alright.

11 June and first piece of transfer speculation. Held the tide as long as I could.

We have a special Father’s Day offer for the Willie Wallace book.  Order between now and Thursday morning and we’ll include a Father’s Day card, complete with your own message. See the big graphic to the right..

    Which charity story ?

They have history when it comes to stealing from charity.

Remember the legends game, the Us and them game, can’t remember off the top of the head, but they scammed quite a few hundred K from that game.

Regards your suggestion about an online petition stating we as fans have no confidence in the SFA… don’t you think that is rather stating the obvious. We could also go one step further and state, we have no confidence in the SFA but my tea is out so I suppose we will just have to live with it.

I put up a suggestion, before the horse bolted, last week suggesting we raise a parliamentary e-petition. It would require a minimum of 100,000 signatures alone just to have the question asked in parliament as to just how bent and incestuous are the SFA.

You’d think there would be at least 100,000 fair and concerned people interested in the health of Scottish football… wouldn’t you?

My suggestion was received with the ubiquitous deafening silence of those whose desires for isonomy are armed with impotent and forlorn apathy.

Re: the SFA, well we’ve got the incumbents we deserve. All hail the Chief thief, we could have tried to stop it… our club chose not to… and in our silence and indifference we each of us endorsed their endorsement….

Unless of course – our club – has a truly nuclear Machiavellian plan that would make even Baldric look like an idiot, and they are just no telling us about it.

  8. i might have missed it, but did we ever find out who “bawbag in pink tie with hand gestures” at cup final actually is.

    someone must know,

  9. So, there was the day at work, the perusal of CQN, the booze, and the urge to once again unlurk; haven’t howled at the moon for aaaages…

    Anyway.

Back when I was doing Ph.D stuff, I drew attention to the fact that in China, at a period when everyone (as in every wannabe poet/hero/civil service candidate) was expected to be word perfect in Sun Tzu, all of the big, politically OMFG events stemmed from someone in charge making a decision; as in, they stopped calculating, and just frickin’ went for it. And although every 300 years or so, an entirely new dynasty resulted, almost invariably the folks en route to glory had battered the bejasus out of the opposition *in increments*; the non-chinese bits of world history are similarly jam-packed with partial victories which lead to epoch-making changes.

Now whilst I’d venture that Celtic FC is en route to something not a million miles removed from epoch-making doodahs, I suspect that the SFA ain’t going anywhere soon; that the system ain’t on the cusp of dissolution; that it won’t all get sorted by next week. My misgiving is that Celtic FC (currently engaged in the compilation of a vastly evidenced and well-devastating indictment of said SFA and all its deeds), is losing sight of the fact that the ultimate aim – presumably, escape from the ambit of the SFA – is not necessarily a “with one bound he was free” type of resolution.

Change is also accomplished by degrees; it’s a Farry thing; and in due course, it’s a Dougie-dougie thing; fact is, attrition *works*.

    My point?

If “Those days are gone” then it’s important to remind the world, publicly and unequivocally, that they *continue to be gone*; that it’s not acceptable for institutional partiality to go unquestioned. Each day that the rehabilitation of Sevco goes unremarked upon by any other than the internet bampots is another day on which the perversion of history gains ground; and currently, that process is forging ahead uninterrupted. Now, even if there is a “master plan”, it’s unacceptable that we tolerate an Uncle Tim situation, and permit the ongoing re-establishment of the masonic status quo to pass without challenge. In fact, to permit its reassertion as the accepted norm. Note that: the *accepted* norm.

I don’t want to go gestalt on you, but what the hell: fact is that what people perceive is usually what they believe, and it is based on what they see, hear and think; and Joe Bloke is being subjected to a regime of relentless agitprop, courtesy of MSM. Scotland is heaving with folk that *don’t* know CQN, or Phil, or RTC or similar, and they are predisposed to accept what they read/hear/see.

I don’t demand that Peter Lawell restructure Scots society in one swell foop; however, I do feel justified in asking him why CFC is facilitating the rewriting of history; because today’s unchallenged “move along Timmy” events can’t reasonably be represented as other than CFC’s collusion in our ongoing reallocation to the back of the bus.

So Peter? Throw me (and the rest of what we might call the unaligned world)a frickin’ bone here; indicate to me that The Brotherhood can no longer act with impunity.

  21. A Ceiler Gonof Rust on

I’ve been off blog for a few days and have just seen that the campbel ogilivie has been re-elected?

    WTF?

My first reaction is why would our football clubs do such a thing?

More importantly and very little discussed on this blog is that our clubs rejected a motion to sanction clubs for racist and sectarian behaviour within our stadia.

Ogilvies reselection has clouded the main event. This is probably the most shameful decision ever taken in the history of Scottish football and we’re discussing the re-election of one bent sectarian individual?

The failure to support the change Reagan was proposing leaves the door wide open for the hun to behave like huns have always behaved.

Ogilvie will be stroking his white cat with a brandy in hand tonight.

  22. A bit strange that the SFA media officer should offer to meet a The Rangers blogger – “to discuss the (many) inaccuracies in your blog”.

    Which has been accepted.

Do all Scottish football bloggers get this offer from the SFA.

  23. The offer of the meeting has been accepted by the blogger I should say, not the inaccuracies.
