The rascal Neil Lennon

771

What a rascal that Neil Lennon is, laughing off interest in Amido Balde while leading us all down the Kevin Doyle road last week, then Amido pitches up at Celtic Park, complete with obligatory Celtic scarf, before heading for some scans and time plugged -up with on the running machine today.

Amido’s road to Celtic Park has not been straight.  He was released by Sporting Lisbon last year without kicking a ball for them, but he has spent a year in a competitive league playing against some Champions League defences, so Celtic will have a fair idea of what kind of player he is.

Does he have the technique?  Does he have the physique?  Does he have the temperament?   John Park and the scouts will have given Neil Lennon lots of information on these elements of Amido, so there should be no surprises.

This is even more true of Balde than of last season’s twin striking signings, Lassad and Miku (trivia question of the future, Who led the line for Celtic when they beat Barcelona in 2012?).  Both arrived in the final days of the window, with options expiring all around and beggars choosing.

As always, the most important hope for any transfer window is that the manager and scouts get their first choices.  That assured, we’ll do alright.

11 June and first piece of transfer speculation. Held the tide as long as I could.

We have a special Father’s Day offer for the Willie Wallace book.  Order between now and Thursday morning and we’ll include a Father’s Day card, complete with your own message. See the big graphic to the right..

HT..Im fine thanks,I just thought Pearce sounded exasperated however I agree that he should perhaps take some responsibility too..interesting to see if the FA will stick with him..though I think its also symptomatic of the dearth of young talent coming through in England due to clubs persistence in buying overpriced so called foreign stars…HH

A wee tip for Aberdour ..leave your driver in the bag for the first 4 holes….hh

Is it a very large bag or very small driver :-)

  4. It’s the debate that probably will never go away. Is The Rangers International the same Club ? It’s patently not, Rangers FC established 1872(?) and incorporated 1899 is under liquidation. FIFA/UEFA rules are clear, a Club is a legal entity, the legal entity that was RFC is no more.

I think we need to move on, let the Zombies try to convince themselves otherwise, I don’t really care anymore – they’re dead, end of.

I agree again but from the little that I saw of the England games their tactics seemed predictable with no scope for alteration. Route one football is severely limited in its effectiveness.

How difficult is it to get the difference between ‘administration’ and ‘liquidation’ – Gary Robertson on GMS – also the ASA! #toobigwords

Sorry but this won’t go away until the truth comes out.

The MSM will try and cling on to this now when they know fine well by Law they’re gone.

the first at Aberdour is a cracker!

Par 3 elevated tee……but being right on the the Firth of Forth, depending upon wind conditions can be anything from an 8-iron to a 3 wood!!

I’ll be aiming at joining yir old man in gaining my first Hole-in-One, but given my lack of golfing prowess, I’ll settle for landing close to the “dance-floor” :-)

Reallllllly looking forward to Friday’s festivities.

#Sevco heavily cited the #SPL as back-up for the same club argument to Advertising Standards Authority. Fans of member clubs will be peeved.

    It’s been interesting .

Pre tournament , the English media and Pearce had mighty England cruising to the semis and having a great chance of winning the tournament .

Italy utterly exposed them . Norway humped them on the break and Israel deservedly beat them. . I didn’t expect England to be great but I was surprised at how technically inept they well . Completely incapable of passing or keeping the ball.. Lots of sweaty running about/ manly challenges and big hoofs up the park..

  15. Paul67 et al

If HMRC win the HTT appeal, Rangers FC will have been liable, in total, for debts of over £240 million. BDO have less than £3 million with which to pay all outstanding creditors. The ASA believes RIFC is the same club as RFC1872, you know the one with the quarter of a billion debt unpaid. The ASA also believes RIFC is “Scotland’s most successful club”.

    Define “success”.

I know it won’t go away. I’m just saying perhaps we on here need to move on from this particular point.

We don’t need explaining of what liquidation is, we don’t need MSM confirmation which if they were to give would drastically effect their sales. I don’t need need to poke the carcass of RFC. I don’t need the Daily Records of this world to tell me what is blindingly obvious.

today’s Private Eye refers to “a constant stream of leaked documents and tapes” regarding Sevco. Nothing new to anyone on here but at least one branch of the media (two if you count Thommo) is still on the case.

I’ll accept #Sevco as #Rangers just as soon as all the creditors are paid. I think that’s reasonable.

    Well said Angela.

  24. All this talk of the Golf Day is making me insanely jealous.

I am what you would call a ‘golf nut’ and play/practice at every oppotunity. My 11-month old boy has hindered that somewhat this year but I love the game.

I was going to put my name forward for this year’s CQN Open but I’m toiling for holidays in work and I’ve not met any CQNer’s yet (although I do know Auldheid as I played fitba with his boy). You can count me in for 2014 right now though!!

Aberdour looks stunning from the pics I have found on the net.

To all those going, play well and enjoy the day. I hope the weather holds up for you all.

It is ever thus with the English media regardless of what level they’re playing at and habitually they return home with their tails between their legs.

They are conspiring to kill their own game with the quantity of overhyped, overpaid prima donnas that they insist in flooding their EPL teams with.

Until they drastically alter training programmes and promote skills development from a young age then they will continue to be perennial failures.
