What a rascal that Neil Lennon is, laughing off interest in Amido Balde while leading us all down the Kevin Doyle road last week, then Amido pitches up at Celtic Park, complete with obligatory Celtic scarf, before heading for some scans and time plugged -up with on the running machine today.
Amido’s road to Celtic Park has not been straight. He was released by Sporting Lisbon last year without kicking a ball for them, but he has spent a year in a competitive league playing against some Champions League defences, so Celtic will have a fair idea of what kind of player he is.
Does he have the technique? Does he have the physique? Does he have the temperament? John Park and the scouts will have given Neil Lennon lots of information on these elements of Amido, so there should be no surprises.
This is even more true of Balde than of last season’s twin striking signings, Lassad and Miku (trivia question of the future, Who led the line for Celtic when they beat Barcelona in 2012?). Both arrived in the final days of the window, with options expiring all around and beggars choosing.
As always, the most important hope for any transfer window is that the manager and scouts get their first choices. That assured, we’ll do alright.
11 June and first piece of transfer speculation. Held the tide as long as I could.

It’s the debate that probably will never go away. Is The Rangers International the same Club ? It’s patently not, Rangers FC established 1872(?) and incorporated 1899 is under liquidation. FIFA/UEFA rules are clear, a Club is a legal entity, the legal entity that was RFC is no more.
I think we need to move on, let the Zombies try to convince themselves otherwise, I don’t really care anymore – they’re dead, end of.

Reconstruction needed 22 votes to get through, and squeezed through with 23. The #SPFL will be born in time for the new season.

I see you’re looking for a caddie on Friday. I don’t know the course but I’m an experienced caddie. Whole day sounds like fun. No fee required. Can transport be arranged? Could meet in Ayrshire or Glasgow. If you’re interested, post back and we can sort out details.
So with the new league structure who is going to lose their job? Doncaster or Longmuir?
So one league body – just. Wonder who the six who voted against were?
Of course we all know the one associate member that couldn’t vote at all, don’t we?

Not managed to meet TBM as yet. last visit to Philippines was purely on Quezon island area – based in Manila, but travelling 3-5 hours to various sites.
Didnt have any time for socialising, unfortunately. not even in Manila, where occasional poster CQNer and all-round good guy KLBhoy (very rarely posts but he does lurk – HAIL! HAIL! Dougie!) now lives.
Will see what happens next time out there though.
HAIL! HAIL!

Re the ASA “verdict”, anyone know what the company registration numbers of RFC 1872 and TRIFC are? If different, the game’s a bogey (with due deference to Aberdour)?

Epitomized by 2 moments in the England v Italy game .
Shelvey lunged at Verratti [ great player ] and Verratti simply moved out the way / passed the ball and then looked at the on the ground Shelvey with utter contempt. ..
Shelvey lunged at Insigne [ fabulous player ] and Insigne simply moved out of the way / passed the ball and then looked at the on the ground Shelvey with utter contempt..
On a sad note for Italy [ and for football ] Insigne looks like missing the semi final. His legs took a real doing against Israel . 5 ft 4 / a No 10 / a fabulous player
SFA president CO annual review.
At no point does he mention Celtic at all even though we pushed up the country co-efficient with CL points and progression to the latter stages of the CL. He does mention referee’s participating at the latter stages tho and Rangers liquidation. Off to read more.

I fail to see any benefits for Celtic in this at all. Am I missing something?
Now that reconstruction plans seem to have got the go ahead heres hoping there’s no longer a need for an SFA chairman and also heres hoping Jack Irvine gets his comeuppance as well.

Newco can go lower the Div 3. That must be a positive!

I know he only has a year left, but £4M is just insulting for Hooper considering his goal scoring record.

Emails between jack Irvine and CW about BBC prof on bigotry.
They mention a boozy night they haft and FTP .
SoT
Who is Insigne currently with?
BBC Scotland this morning in talking of the ASA mentioned that the deid team were in administration; no mention whatever of liquidation. Hmmmmmmm……….
friesdorfer
The ASA are saying the New company bought the previous success so can they claim to it.
Mark Wotte mentions that a few youth players being good for Scotland but James Forrest is a positive for Celtic. Does not mention the excellent Celtic academy.
Celtic are mentioned for our European exploits.
Wotte talks about how badly teams perform in Europe with the exception of Celtic. Hardly praise from Mark Wotte on that score. This reads like a Rangers/Scotland fanzine!

CW supposedly had mentioned FTP.

That is an absolute disgrace!
Shocking that even this will not goad the MSM or the authorities into action.
And it won’t….
Remember the furore over a private missive from the CSA chairman about The Titanic?
On reconstruction, I understand that the SFA will still exist as the overall body running the game, the SPFL is simply a merger of the SPL and SFL. So it is either Longmuir or Doncaster for the chop, hopefully the former.
Livibhoy
I’d prefer to leave them to wallow in their own misery so still failing to see how it benefits Celtic?
Googybhoy
They can’t contain their goodness and charitable spirit for long :-)
bye bye SFA.
Did the associate member vote get passed so Sevco can be part of the SPFL board?
Scotzine @scotzine 22m
So with the new league structure who is going to lose their job? Doncaster or Longmuir?
My cash is on Doncaster brother Longmuir will keep his job with the rest of the stinking corrupt blazers..
new article posted.
Gordon Strachan comments on the National team but curiously the two pictures of players in his squad are of McGregor (Fair enough) & Naismith (why?). Two Ex Rangers players and no picture of the current captain.
Strange.

Your not! there is none to see, we are playing the long game of being Mr Good guy to Scottish football, its an ongoing process of removal of two whataboutery guff (1) the old firm label (2) the often labelled accusation of Celtic and Sevco only look out for themselves, clink on the link ref financials on the STV report, Celtic have played their part, however don’t expect any mention in the MSM

I thought the young Italian team played very good football against Israel. I thought the Israeli tackling was dreadful and they robbed the tournament of probably its best player.
However, the National Anthem proved that the young Italians can sing nane!
