The rascal Neil Lennon

771

What a rascal that Neil Lennon is, laughing off interest in Amido Balde while leading us all down the Kevin Doyle road last week, then Amido pitches up at Celtic Park, complete with obligatory Celtic scarf, before heading for some scans and time plugged -up with on the running machine today.

Amido’s road to Celtic Park has not been straight.  He was released by Sporting Lisbon last year without kicking a ball for them, but he has spent a year in a competitive league playing against some Champions League defences, so Celtic will have a fair idea of what kind of player he is.

Does he have the technique?  Does he have the physique?  Does he have the temperament?   John Park and the scouts will have given Neil Lennon lots of information on these elements of Amido, so there should be no surprises.

This is even more true of Balde than of last season’s twin striking signings, Lassad and Miku (trivia question of the future, Who led the line for Celtic when they beat Barcelona in 2012?).  Both arrived in the final days of the window, with options expiring all around and beggars choosing.

As always, the most important hope for any transfer window is that the manager and scouts get their first choices.  That assured, we’ll do alright.

11 June and first piece of transfer speculation. Held the tide as long as I could.

We have a special Father’s Day offer for the Willie Wallace book.  Order between now and Thursday morning and we’ll include a Father’s Day card, complete with your own message. See the big graphic to the right..

Reading back, getting nervous about golf now. Friday will be my 5th game of golf in 12 years, did not realise the first 2 holes were par 3, does that mean that is how many balls i am allowed to lose at each of them? Off to buy more Dunlop 65’s…

Who knows? Could’ve been part of the 5-Way Agreement, but since it’s kept under lock and key we can only guess what it contains. Maybe something in it that says if “Rangers” get into the SPL before three years they don’t get it, but if they don’t they do get it? As I say we can only guess…..

  3. Balde to sign today? Has anyone asked him if he plays golf? mind you it’s probably too late for him to get a space at Aberdour anyway.

Looking forward to seeing other CQNers on Friday. Weather doesn’t look brilliant for the early starters. I’ll be around the first tee before 10am, camera in hand. For those who haven’t played the course before, the first hole is very scenic but I’m told it is very difficult.

  4. What Is Charlotte’s End Game ?

The stuff coming from the @CharlotteFakes is certainly interesting. It’s really hard to dismiss it as ‘fake’. The audio released so far seems to be legitimate, the documents also point to collusion and corruption. Taking all that into account I congratulate the broadcaster for getting this into the public domain. However I think it’s also legitimate to ask ‘what is Charlotte’s end game’?

Is it simply to make the general public aware of a massive conspiracy to defraud Rangers/Sevco supporters, other clubs and the paying football fan in general ? If that is the case then it is succeeding.

Is it to simply highlight how corrupt and incompetent football authorities and the MSM in this country are ? Once again it seems to be succeeding in raising awareness.

Is it to force the mainstream media into investigating this whole business ? On that point nothing appears to be happening.

Is it to alert UEFA, FIFA and law enforcement agencies that a massive fraud is being perpetrated and covered up ?

On point 3 let me play Devil’s Advocate.

The standard reply from mainstream journalists when asked why they are not publishing this stuff is. ‘Our lawyers said we can’t’. What if they are telling the truth ? What if the legal advice they are getting is that this stuff is part of an ongoing police investigation and publishing it may prejudice the outcome of any subsequent court cases ?

Now we do know that representatives of Craig Whyte have handed over audio and documents to the serious fraud office in London. What we don’t know is if any of the leaked audio and documents were part of that. I don’t have a clue if the leaking of this stuff could prejudice any investigation or court case, maybe a legal mind could put me right on that.

Once again playing Devil’s Advocate, what if it does ? That would raise some genuine concerns not least are Celtic fans online being used as pawns in this game ? Could it be that the sole purpose of these leaks is to destroy any chance of the guilty being eventually prosecuted ?

Maybe I’m being too cynical. The chances are that Charlotte and the Fakeovers reasons for leaking this stuff are honourable and that the person/people behind it are doing it for all the right reasons. However taking into account what we have witnessed from the crooks of Govan over the past few years I do think it is healthy to ask questions.

Personally I hope everyone involved in this switcheroo from David Murray right through to some administrators of the game end up in jail for this. If Charlotte helps bring that about then that will be a job well done and good public service.

I suppose we’ll have to wait and see how it pans out.

  5. So the ASA are the latest organisation to say the dead club and company were separate entities and on top of every other decision that’s went their way it’s now clear that they will never disappear and will be back in the not too distant future assisted by the SFA ,the MIBs and whomever else from the Masonic cabal. The only way to beat them is on the park.HH

  6. Flicked through the SFA review. Not had a chance to read it properly yet.

I don’t see any pictures of Scotland’s champions or any of our players even though we contribute quite a few players to all the national sides.

I had it sent to me and only noticed after coversing with my mate about it. It’s clearly just a made up team.

I did check their squad though and there are about 15 players called Kim.

That’s more than twice as many rounds as I have played in twice the time!

Par 3 to kick off? Worried about getting yer leg pulled for the duff shot?

No problem,seven-iron and in the approx direction, passes the snigger test as the ball will go up.

Not to be confused wi a two-iron or driver where nerves can kill you.

And the best thing about the seven-iron is its usefulness as a weapon to any smart bassas.

Fab eyes bulging rant from Stuart Psycho Pearce last night —-

” Blame the players, not me . I honestly don’t think I should be here answering questions on behalf of them.

They should be here answering questions on why their performances were so poor , to be honest with you..

I don’t think it’s my responsibility at this stage to answer for performances as bad as these “.

Italian media covering the media have simply adopted a realistic approach —— The English players were tactically and technically inept . Big/ pacey / muscular boys playing hit and hope football.

  12. I think several Celtic websites should start a rumour that a senior Celtic board members has falsified his tax returns just to see how long the MSM hold off on the story because they don’t know where the story came from…

  13. Gents,

Heard a part of his interview whilst driving into work this morning. You’d think that as he is the manager of an under 20’s team he would display some compassion and a willing ness to at least shoulder some of the responsibility given that these are still young men. Clearly not.

  19. Morning All from a sunny Germany where the flood waters are slowly receding. Pleased that it looks like we’re signing a strong, pacey centre-forward. I’m confident any weaknesses in his game will be ironed out at Lennoxtown. And I think worries that we need a creative midfielder might just be superfluous if Rogic lives up to his promise.

HT..maybe Pearce he thinks they are too big headed already and not willing to buckle down and continue to learn the game given the exorbitant EPL wages I would imagine most of these young guys are on. HH

Anyone know if we get a roll on arrival or is it only dinner?

  23. Johann

I think you have a point I was just very taken aback by Pearce’s reluctance to accept any responsibility whatsoever especially considering the age of those he’s working with.
