There is worse to come

812

Neil Lennon said we didn’t deserve to lose 4-1, as we dominated large parts of the game against a team who have lost their last four games (not against Celtic), conceding 14 goals in the process.  But oh, Neil, we absolutely deserved to lose by at least that margin.

Our disorganisation is a marvel.  Scott managing to start his jump goal-side of a dropping ball and ending up wrong side.  Callum playing three onside.  Kris A. not committing to block the cross (forgiven, trying to cover two positions), Chris J. attempting to intercept with the wrong foot (forgiven, fitness).  Hatem reliving his Ferencvaros highlights.  Full backs who are never back and produce few assists; there is no defensive midfield, unless you count the goalkeeper who feels the need to leave his box and play that position, just a midfield of nomads.

The team is a collection of individuals unencumbered by a workable strategy.  Opposition managers have their game plan written: defend deep, play on the counter and put numbers forward at set-pieces.  If we could defend counter-attacks and corner kicks, we would be having a legendary season, but we can’t, so everyone looks awful.

In sport, if you have evident fatal flaws and persistently fail to resolve them, you deserve every setback that comes your way.  It is hard to recall a Celtic team that deserved to lose more.  Let me give you a cheery prediction, you will soon forget about last night, as there is worse to come.

    Can’t agree.

All managers want to bring their assistants with them.

    This didn’t happen.

Thanks to the accountant CEO/unofficial general manager

  2. I won’t criticise Neil. He is the wrong man in the wrong job at the wrong time.

The buck stops with lawwell. If he is still in the job when season ticket renewals are sent out celtic supporters should delay renewing until he is removed. We have the power to force his departure. This must be the greatest example of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in sports history.

Dave King certainly got it wrong with his appointments of Warburton and Caixinha. His appointment of Gerrard has proved to be inspirational. We all laughed at the time but we are not laughing now.

Here’s how I imagine the conversation between King and Gerrard went.

Dk: Steven, Dave King here. I want you to be the next manager of the rangers.

    Sg: no way!

    Dk: why not?

Sg: Brendan is a top coach and I’m the Liverpool under 18’s coach. I have no chance.

Dk: don’t worry about Brendan. He will be gone soon.

Sg: how do you know this?

Dk: it’s the Celtic way. Lawwell will chase him out just like he did with O’Neil and they will replace him with Lennon or Coyle or McKay. Someone cheap. Someone with no bargaing power.

Sg: even so, Celtic have much better players than the rangers.

Dk: they will sell all their best players. Dembele will de sold soon. They will jump at the first decent offer they receive. likewise with Edouard. You will have a great chance of winning this league and Celtic will collapse like a wall of cards.

Sg: ok.you’ve sold me. I accept your offer.

    Worse is still to come?

That means NL stays regardless of what happens or we get Mark McGhee or someone like that?

How did it come to this?

  4. It was accompanied by pepper and Lea & Perrins

  6. Paul 67,

    What could be worse. ?

    We will be skint.

    Downsizing of mega proportions.

Player sales for peanuts. E.g. Would Osbourne Edouard in his current form get us our money back ?

Draconian Covid 19 control measures continue indefinitely.

ID digital passports to become mandatory to travel to and attend a match.

Top Tiers will be mothballed for H&S reasoning.

Europe is where we used to go on holiday.

Peter Lawwell gets disco lights on his heated driveway to celebrate his new 25 year contract.

    Wow.

  7. As I have said elswhere….

This could be the greatest example of Self Sabotage in British Sporting History.

To lose THIS Title ( of all Titles ), when one considers the monstrous advantage Celtic have over others; demonstrates breathtaking ( and arguably wilful ) incompetence and negligence in all areas of the Club.

Sadly though, we seem to be living in an age where incompetence is far too easily excused and even rewarded.

  8. PeterLatchfordsBelly may be right……

So while I didn’t want to bring my own humble offering to the table, I have been persuaded by a man with an unblemished record in implementing phenomenal turnrounds and creating unvarnished success. He says to forget Managerial/boardroom/player upheaval.

He suggests that the solution lies clearly with the fans and that we therefore we need to really be inspired by ‘The History’.

Hence tonight at 7pm he hopes that everyone with Celtic in their souls will simply have a look at the picture below, and concentrate really hard on changing the year to 2021 and the banner wording to ‘Quintuple’

Oh in case you haven’t heard of him….Uri Geller’s the name!

  9. JAMES FORREST on 27TH NOVEMBER 2020 1:02 PM

The only way a managerial change could be worse is if any replacement is of such low quality that it only enrages the fans further.

The key is whoever comes in has the power to pick his own assistants.

If the new manager has no option but to go with Lennon’s assistants then nothing much will change.

  10. Hahahahahahaha

Just seen DiCanio mentioned as the new manager on Newsnow

    That would be worse

    .

Auldheid — feel sorry for you. The bonus thief buried Res 12 and helped them up with 5WA

    =====

Thank you but dont feel sorry for me, feel sorry for yourselves.

Chairbhoy wrote an excellent article on previous blog which I hope he copies over because my experience of dealing with Celtic under PL confirms exactly what he is saying to a degree I still find hard to believe.

The organisation at Celtic, whilst I respect some individuals working in it, is toxic. I mean toxic and perhaps, just perhaps P67 who never supported Res12 and pursued the Judicial Review that got nowhere because unlike Res12 it had no locus , is beginning to realise how toxic it really is and it is hard to take in that a person that you trusted completely is so untrustworthy.

All Celtic supporters want in my opinion is to watch a clean game but we havent been since 2000 and we still arent.

All that we see unfolding or is it unravelling is a result of the 5 Way Agreement Celtic accepted. I can understand the motivation at the time and no one expected evidence to surface that proved many suspicions of unfair play, but the attempt at burying that evidence particularly from 2018 when it pointed to fraud is incredible.

That is not to mention not taking the opportunity to have the sham that was the LNS Commission put aside in 2014 and 2017. It’s all documented on http://www.res12.uk and there is more to add and I feel sorry for all those being taken in by a lie.

You can never build anything lasting on a foundation that is unreal and that foundation was the 5 Way Agreement and Celtic’s fingerprints are on it.

I’ve oft quoted from Gibran in respect of what Rangers supporters were enduring but now it is our turn.

“Pain is the breaking of the shell that enclosing your understanding” says Gibran and now it’s our turn. I’ll post the whole poem next as it also offers hope.

On Res11 for next AGM: the response from the shareholders who had it placed in the AGM notice to the Boards response which says they will take up the issues with relevant parties is a united one of thanks but we do not trust you.

When Paul says there is worse to come my experience of life is that overtime the thing we fear most turns out to be the best thing that ever happened but by God does it hurt at the time.

  12. To me, our utter domination coming to an end would not cause too much wailing and gnashing of teeth – IF we were narrowly pipped, we were still firing on all cylinders and it was simply that an opponent had done better.

The manner of our capitulation, however, leaves no room for excuses. We have been slowly regressing for a few years now. Our regression has certainly sped up recently, coupled with a genuinely credible challenge from Govan.

I recently read James Forrest’s (of this parish) piece, written following our current managers appointment.

    He was spot on

  13. JAMES FORREST on 27TH NOVEMBER 2020 12:57 PM

It’s the “for whatever reason…” that baffles me.

What possible reason could the board have for not doing what everyone can see needs to happen? I don’t believe they don’t care. Hard to believe they’re that stupid…

Could it be that Lawwell appointed Lennon without doing his job properly first (looking at other candidates) and that removal of Lennon now would be an admission of guilt that his ego just won’t allow?

Agreed on Strachan and Mackay but I would add O’Neill and Keane to the list too. Read up on his latest club role at Forest as to why sentiment shouldn’t cloud our judgment (again) on this one.

    On Pain

    Kahlil Gibran – 1883-1931

And a woman spoke, saying, Tell us of Pain.

    And he said:

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.

Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.

    And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy;

And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields.

And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief.

====> Much of your pain is self-chosen. It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.<====

Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility:

For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the Unseen,

And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has moistened with His own sacred tears.

That is a significant list, only when you write it down is the true extent of miss spending evident.

I agree with the pass Mark’s,but this brings into view the question for PL which is, why spend all this on many no hopers and penny pinch on retaining Gordon.and signing FF.

If I may be so bold.

When did you start to get the measure of Peter Lawwell?

  17. Neil Lennon said we didn’t deserve to lose 4-1, as we dominated large parts of the game against a team who have lost their last four games (not against Celtic), conceding 14 goals in the process. But oh, Neil, we absolutely deserved to lose by at least that margin.

Paul, did you copy and paste this ,after the game a couple of weeks ago?

  18. AULDHEID on 27TH NOVEMBER 2020 2:13 PM

When you mention toxic, are you referring to the smoking gun you passed to Lawwell and the way it was treated?

Or is it the relationship the board members have with each other?

Thank for all the work you have put in over the years to try to get res 12 to be properly dealt with.

Re NFL’s staff : no way was Gary Parker going to be allowed here after the Hibs debacle.

No point in sacking or slaughtering NL unless you know you have someone better lined up. Sack him today and JK is in charge till we get someone decent.

Maybe worth the risk that he makes it worse, maybe not.

Just the handling of Res12. I’m not sure based on Bankiers reply at 2019 AGM if he had been properly briefed.

Even at last AGM, apart from denying sight of the 5 Way Agreement the reasons for not pursuing Res12, particularly about UEFA’s stance were disingenuous.

Not the answers PL said he got from UEFA but the questions he did not put in order to get the answers he wanted.

If James Forrest is looking in he will recall seeing the questions that should have been put to UEFA in Aug 2018 being handed over.
