There is worse to come

812

Neil Lennon said we didn’t deserve to lose 4-1, as we dominated large parts of the game against a team who have lost their last four games (not against Celtic), conceding 14 goals in the process.  But oh, Neil, we absolutely deserved to lose by at least that margin.

Our disorganisation is a marvel.  Scott managing to start his jump goal-side of a dropping ball and ending up wrong side.  Callum playing three onside.  Kris A. not committing to block the cross (forgiven, trying to cover two positions), Chris J. attempting to intercept with the wrong foot (forgiven, fitness).  Hatem reliving his Ferencvaros highlights.  Full backs who are never back and produce few assists; there is no defensive midfield, unless you count the goalkeeper who feels the need to leave his box and play that position, just a midfield of nomads.

The team is a collection of individuals unencumbered by a workable strategy.  Opposition managers have their game plan written: defend deep, play on the counter and put numbers forward at set-pieces.  If we could defend counter-attacks and corner kicks, we would be having a legendary season, but we can’t, so everyone looks awful.

In sport, if you have evident fatal flaws and persistently fail to resolve them, you deserve every setback that comes your way.  It is hard to recall a Celtic team that deserved to lose more.  Let me give you a cheery prediction, you will soon forget about last night, as there is worse to come.

  1. We can certainly still win this league with this pool of players. But not with this management team.

They press conferences are now cringeworthy. He is delusional

  2. lets all do the huddle on

i dont think our problems are that bad

    all we need is

    a new manager

    a new defence

    a new midfield

and, if eddy leaves, a new strike force

oh, and we need new folk at the helm of the plc

    so things are looking ok!!

to me everyone who was on that pitch last night, apart from eddy (and even he has been ropey this season) would be nothing more than a squad player in the martin oneill era

he would have had no truck with fightless wee boys who get shoved off the ball at the slightest touch so theres mcgregor christie moi frimpong (to a lesser extent) out

nor would he stand for centre halfs who couldnt out jump or out muscle a flea, so there julien and ajer out

non triers? he wouldnt stand for that either so you can insert your own names to that

we need to get back to a squad that can look after themselves and can play a bit as well

    get the wee boys out

    and skillful athletes in

our squad needs a full restructure

    wont happen obviously

Great summary – and difficult to dismantle the argument – logical and believable

But as I have said before if we are letting them win – we are up there with Lance Armstrong

BTW if we are letting them win – whats the upside – keep the enemy alive and hopefully not too well

    The plan isney working !!!!!

  4. So,let me get this right, the Board are to blame for giving Lenny,38.5million to spend. The Board are an absolute disgrace for overseeing 9 IAR,and very possibly 4trebles IAR.The Board should be ashamed for consistently getting us fantastic sponsorship deals. The Board are at fault because a lot of highly paid players, forgetting how to do the very basics of the sport they play. How dare this Board not sack Lenny, even though we have no one to replace him.I mean,Pochettino,Mourinho,Silva,How’e,who has won nothing,Bielsa, and numerous others are desperate to manage us.Shocking of this Board to antagonise the Board haters with poor results,,the same haters who never give them credit for any success .

How dare this Board ,just how dare they.

WHAT HAVE THE FEKIN ROMANS EVER DONE FOR US.

I find that when someone is at a low point they need support not everyone lumping more pressure on them.

    Support the man.

Should he still be manager – certainly not – should we pressurise the board – absolutely.

  6. Very difficult to compete with a fincially doped club, not looking to make excuses but thems have nothing to lose. We have loads to lose. Bit of leadership required and thems are history. Do the board want it as much as us ? Not convinced, wish I was in charge.

If Neil Lennon had Celtic Football Clubs best interests at heart he would walk.

But he knows his managerial career at any decent level is finished if he does.

I honestly can’t understand what the board are seeing, by not taking any action.

This is not about 10 in a row.

This is about what is best for our club going forward

  8. My friends in Celtic,

The new huns are only 8 years old. They have been in the SPL for 4 years now.

We should be light years ahead of them, but stating the obvious, we’re not.

I keep reading ad nauseam that we have batter players than them . We certainly spend more and certainly pay more.

Genuine question: Based on what current criteria do we have better players than them.?

So the board want us,”virtual fans” to support a manager who has won only one of the last nine games?

Lennon and the board are sticking two fingers up to all of us yet some of us are still blind.

How fr have we fallen when accepting an 8-2 scoreline over two games against an average European team is ok?

Lennon is an embarrassment at every press conference now, spouting the same old guff and we have to “keep the faith”…..

  11. HUDDLE,

Would that be the same MON,that won nothing the Seville year.

The same guy who lost the League at For Park. The same guy who lost 5-1 to the Huns, giving them some of their greatest days.

Not much fight on show there.5 points ahead with 3 games to play.

    Aye right.

Good to hear you are in good spirits

Paul67’s header today has me a bit down – the suggestion is no improvement no hope

i notice the tone today is moving away from NL towards PL (the real culprit) but that’s a cul-de-sac

And i fear we will never have the PL debate as Paul67 has a hot line to the control tower

i fear our various views will have you maintain your man but i will not be eating humble pie

I sense a piece of history (10IAR) running through my fingers like a hand full of olive oil (poor analogy) but you get my point

I think you miss the point. The board let a man who is useless spend nae BLOW £38.5 mil on DROSS.

PS PETER L had nothing to do with the huns going skint and everything to do with their new position claiming “same club and 55 status,”

  15. Good evening, friends.

It is of course possible to hold these 2 views simultaneously – (1) I want a change of manager; and (2) I haven’t given up on winning the league. Assuming we win our 2 games in hand (I know!) we are 5 points adrift. Could we win all of our remaining league games of 2020?

Well, we have 5 to play – St Johnstone (H), Kilmarnock (H), Ross County (H), Hamilton (A), Dundee Utd (H). We really must expect 15 points from those games surely? Whether we changed manger or kept with Neil these remain 5 very winnable games (worth considering should we look to get a new manager bedded in?)

Conversely, Sevco play 6 games including 4 away trips to Ross Co, Dundee Utd, St Johnstone and St Mirren. If they pick up 18 points they really will then look like champions elect. We need a swing, even a single draw for Sevco would potentially reduce the ‘real’ gap down to just 3 points.

    We then travel to Ibrox….

  16. AULDHEID  @ 5:54 PM,

Now that’s a nail on the head.

Things are different at the moment but there have been many Board defenders and apologists over the years.

    Several years ago…

“never interupt your enemy while they are making a mistake”*

“We need to ensure this doesn’t become a Celtic Rangers thing”

“We need to keep our powder dry”

All rather tangible in their own right in their own time.

However, no one has put up a defence or put together a coherent argument to refute what you are saying.

*In case anyone needs reminding, they were not making mistakes, they were contriving a fiendish plan to ensure the biggest come back since the resurrection.

    Hail Hail

  17. Despite their bravado the huns (and I include the media) will be jubilant if Gerrard sees Lenny off the premises. Board maybe not willing to allow this boost to happen at present.

    Lenny should walk.God Bless Him.

Wee mhan is running on empty , best for him to go…as you say God bless him.

  19. The last 24 hours or so on this blog and others have been painful, I know there are those with their own not too hidden agendas and of the course a plethora of hunterlopers but the amount of decent supporters, including our host, who look as if they are at the end of their tether is frankly frightening.

Earlier this week I posted the following:

“are we being complicit in sacrificing our ten to save sevco, stranger things have happened. As we all know the mitb are doing their job, other teams are hardly trying a leg so just mibbees just mibbees the word is out to save the huns.

I know the other clubs helped stop them trying tae come back in the top division after they went out of the game, but if the truth be told that order only came fae the board rooms after the opposing fans threatened a boycott, even down in the Championship. As far as the directors of these clubs, possibly including ours, were concerned titles and cups stripped was enough punishment.”

Now I was only putting that out there as a possibility but with Resolution 12 raising its ugly head, even though this was against the scottish freemason association it would also implicate deidco, it seems I am not alone with this thought.

Let’s not forget, as I have also mentioned, that pre-bader there was always a quid pro quo between both clubs.

We bailed them out in the early days which led tae us being awarded shares as a reward and they were in our corner for the “flag controversy”, it was always about the money.

If this assumption is correct then we are watching the biggest scandal in sport since Arnold Rothstein conspired tae throw the World Series.

  25. I like the way everyone is dissmissing our league opponents in December as if we are going to get maximum points from these games.

Obviously haven’t been paying attention for the last few months

  26. We are relatively 5 points behind but their goal difference is more than significant,

    Don’t forget.

  27. Let me get this straight, there supporters on here who have given up on the League with 25 games still to be played. Question, which team, and which club do they actually support? Obviously not Celtic. Expect that from some (im) posters on here but not from some who have been supporting Celtic longer than me, and really have been through hard times, but even then sometimes the light shone through. Sparta Prague showed once again that a half decent Europa League manager and team will outthink and outplay any group of players managed by Neil Lennon, we saw enough of that last season and early this one to know that will be the case as long as Neil remains in charge. But how many teams in Scotland are as good as even Sparta, not many, one probably. Neil Lennon’s team is an SPL team, he is an SPL manager at best, nothing more, but we are still only one of two teams that can win the league this season. Neil has taken us out of Europe quicker than Boris Johnson, but nothing has been won or lost in Scotland. Yet. So I will keep hoping and supporting, might have to even start praying, Neil or no. And always remember it’s never over until Milli Vanilli sings.
