There will be goals

733

Dundee have played 12 games since losing 6-0 at Celtic Park in September, scoring in all but one of those occasions. Only Celtic and Aberdeen have kept them out in 21 games this season. They lost five last time out to Ross County (scoring twice), but scored four against Accies the week before. Season tickets at Dens are excellent value for money. There will be goals when Celtic visit tomorrow.

Kane Hemmings scored five of their six goals against County and Accies. He’s a direct player who makes runs from deep into space but a large portion of his goals come as a consequence of defensive errors. In short, he appears to run at defenders in anticipation of them making a mistake, not a wholly unproductive strategy for strikers playing against Celtic this season.

Ronny Deila will be keen Celtic build on the positives from Tynecastle, although the on-going absence of Leigh Griffiths will be a concern. I reckon we would have seen Carlton Cole at some point against Hearts if it were not for the plethora of injuries which restricted the manager’s options. Hearts had done their homework on Nadir Ciftci, who was well marshalled throughout. He can expect a similar night tomorrow.

Partick Thistle’s role in the title race will come into focus over the next week. They are on an excellent run ahead of tomorrow’s visit to Pittodrie at Saturday’s game at Celtic Park, having won their last four league games. You can win two Premium Seat tickets in the Jock Stein Stand for Saturday’s game, courtesy of Magners, if you answer this question:

Who was the last Partick Thistle manager to win four consecutive top flight games?

Email your answer in the SUBJECT line to celticquicknews@gmail.com before 17:00 tomorrow (30th). My Partick Thistle knowledge is limited, so editors decision if final……

And if you are so minded, having read what you’ve done already for Mary’s Meals in 2015, you can donate a £1 or so towards them here. Many thanks…………

no, I’m a fool too though currently home for lunch and waiting on the ‘game on’ announcement before I can remind everyone that there’s no more sleeps… ;-)

  3. [Sevco] being set up by the FFin’ media.

“These are great days at Ibrox as the club is showing real evidence that not just as a team but as an institution, [Sevco] are the biggest club in the land. With a stadium bursting at the seams, Monday’s game was the very shot in the arm that the nation has been crying out for… This very fixture would seem to confirm that Scottish football is far from dead…Incredibly just as [Sevco] demonstrate vocally and visually that the grand old game is far from somnolent, a myriad of sinister forces are trying to put the genie back into the bottle…More disturbing however was an attempt by professional mischief makers in the Scottish media to blacken the name of the [Sevco] support by insisting that the club’s supporters were guilty of using sectarian language. I watched the game and failed to hear any sectarian invective… The lyrics of some old favourites have been reviewed and where appropriate expunged. In short, there is no reason to be offended unless of course you want to be offended.

One suspects that the singing of ‘sectarian’ songs is nothing more than a straw man, yet another attempt to besmirch the good name of [Sevco] football club. One further suspects that the real motivation of the permanently offended is fear. Fear, pure and simple. Fear of a resurgent, potent club. The mere sight of a packed vibrant Ibrox is enough to drive them to invention and fabrication, seeing and hearing things where there is nothing to be seen and even less to be heard…The hymns, songs and anthems which flowed down the terraces for ninety minutes was their wake up call. Reports of [Sevco’s] demise are exaggerated, the patient is in robust health.

    We welcome the chase.”

“the rc. bigot factories must be destryed once and for all as they are truly EVIL.”

“That Club’s supporters, and their acolytes in the media, are up there with the most lying, depraved, bigoted, bitter, twisted, hate filled maggots in world sport.”

    ——

“Our club is under constant attack from members of a religious cult who are brought up to hate us and everything we stand for.”

“Absolutely loved yesterday, having been going to watch Rangers from Northern Ireland for over 20 years yesterday was great to see Ibrox absolutely rammed with an old school atmosphere.”

    ——

“It was a big game with a holiday crowd – it’s happened before at this time of the year. I recall Queens Park at Hampden 3 years ago there were similar outbursts of the song.”

    ——

“I also think we have to remember that – and this is a weird generational thing – that while many of us see younger fans being worryingly ‘onside with’ the filth and being very friendly with them, us older chaps despise the vermin MORE than at any stage since perhaps the early 00s when they were cheating scum AND launched the whole offensive singing pish. We hate them…NO bridges built…the years away, and their shameful part in trying to kill us off, has seen feelings harden further.”

    ——

“Sing loud and proud the new version of TBB. They hate it as it epitomises what we stand for… Now is fight back time. Get the Billy Boys out there loud and proud . And most important, don’t forget that if you vote for a papist you drive another nail into this wee country’s coffin.”

    ——

“Monday, to me, was a sign of a support sick fed up of being a punching bag and decided to fight back…I don’t give a s**t what anyone says, Monday was the best Ibrox experience in years for me.”

    ——

“I agree with this. We are what we are and if anyone has a problem with that then they can go and… The very sight of a Celtic Jersey is offensive to me”

    ——

“it’s an amazing song to an uplifting tune. NOTHING beats it and it’s part of our cultural heritage…I genuinely mean it when I say [Sevco] are not the same without TBB.”

Tonight’s match vs. Celtic has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch after a referee’s pitch inspection

Maybe the postponement will allow us to get our injured players fit for the rescheduled game. Plus the transfer window opens on Friday, so our line up in the rescheduled game could be a lot stronger.

    Paul67,

If you’re running PHP 5.5.x you need to ensure the VC++11 runtime is installed.

If you’re running PHP 5.4.x then you need to install the VC++9 runtime

Glad the game is off tonight

A lot of players injured and no doubt there would be a lot of press up in Dundee listening very closely to the Celtic songbook tonight .

  8. Shame, was really looking forward to spending time with my fellow tree hugging, left wing, Celtic supporters. :-)
