There’s only one John Guidetti

1256

I’m beginning to believe some of the ‘Unseen..’ paranoia that goes around town myself.  Absolutely delighted, and a bit surprised, Fifa ratified John Guidetti’s transfer to Celtic.  He’s a player we have tried to buy for three consecutive summer transfer windows; this guy has been watched, courted and pursued by Celtic, Feyenoord, Ajax and no doubt a whole lot more.

Since his marquee season in Rotterdam he’s come through debilitating illness but is now healthy, if in need of some match sharpness.

He is ineligible for the Europa League group stage but will be available for the round of 32 through to the final in Warsaw.

There was a real meeting of minds between player and club on Monday; he liked the way we went about our business and people at the club were impress with his personality.  Apparently, he’s another “strong character” to add to the others who have arrived at the club over the last week.

If only we had a song for him….

  2. Delighted with the Guidetti signing. I hope that it goes well for him (and us), and that we give him time. I am amazed at the volatility of the site in the last few weeks. We can be c**p in the morning and heroes in the afternoon. Ronnie can be our saviour before he has managed a game, and should be sacked after 2 games. We really should take a longer view. “A week is a long time in politics” as Harold Wilson said, it seems like a lifetime on CQN at times.

  3. Could this transfer window be Celtic’s perestroika?

…..or should that be pair of strikers?

Just watching the new series of Dynamo on telly.

    Guy’s incredible.

I bet he could even get us back in the Champion’s League.

  5. goldstar10,

To be honest I was a bit down in the dumps as most on here were with recent performances, now, I can’t wait to see our new acquisitions turn out for us. HH

  6. My friends in Celtic,

I am absolutely delighted with our future line-up and I make no apology for it.

Possibly that is partly due to the dire performances we have witnessed this season and any hope and positives are to be welcomed.

We now have potential and a sense of the unknown. Anticipation is good, we know what AS & LG bring to the table, but our new signings bring the unknown. Guidetti seems a bit mad—–good.

question for you………………. if we went to FIFA to get the reg ratified then why can we not appeal to UEFA for the inclusionof big John to the EL?

  8. Last night I was critical of Celtic, so today is Positive :-)

Well done Celtic on the signing of John Guidetti ( even though too late :-)), let’s hope we can keep hold of him.

With a season long loan, we can negotiate directly with John from January, so no transfer fee at end of next season, and if he is successful, a decent signing on fee for John, could convince him where to play his football for next few seasons, good business.

BT, glad things appear to have gone well for you :-)

Oh, and whether it’s Asda or Mass, I’ll never set foot in that stadium, come to think of it a lot of that other mob may feel the same :-) as they look for somewhere to play

  9. Marrakesh Express on

It could very well be the case that Scepovic turns out to be the star signing, but you just get the feeling that big John, No.7 and all, fits the bill. Just love it if both hit it off, maybe like Pierre and Cadete, but longer term.

    Here’s hoping.

I have been watching that You Tube clip of him for over a year.

I was told last season that we were looking at him.

I was very against signing him permanently.

He has permanent nerve damage on his injured leg.

Corkcelt told me earlier today that this was due to food poisoning .

He then had a further injury during his recovery.

He has a lot to prove and may never be the player he was once promised to be.

If we are being honest ,that is probably why he is at Celtic on loan.

He has an opportunity to rebuild himself in a more competitive environment than reserve football ,where he has a great opportunity to get plenty of competitive match practice .

Well done to Peter Lawwell and the management team for an impressive balancing act.

  15. BT,

    The name game

    What’s in a name?

Well the folks in the Blue Room were only fully briefed about terms of the Ibrox naming rights contract two days ago.

As in they only SAW it in the last 48 hours.

They had been made aware of this legally binding agreement by Philip Nash some time ago.

The provenance of this contract is back in 2013 when Charlie and the boys needed to access a credit line of £2.5Million.

This overdraft facility was a line in the sand of Deloitte the auditors of the two year old entity.

Without this borrowing facility there would have been a Going Concern Warning in the inaugural accounts of RIFC and Charlie did not want that.

Part of that credit line was provided by Mr Ashley.

In return, apart from getting a substantial portion of the commercial income from the superstore, the naming rights were also thrown in.

I understand that Mr Ashley simply presented the contract that he had drawn up and it was hurriedly signed.

This was not the normal Sevco protocol as contracts signed by Charles of Normandy or his minions were usually drafted by his éminence grise Iain Morgan.

Once Charles of Normandy realised his error he did try and get it ripped up.

This was an expensive business and more costly than has been reported.

The true cost was closer to £400,000 as RIFC had also to meet Mr Ashley’s costs.

Given that he has not exercised his rights under the contract heretofore suggests that he will not.

However from the day that he does the deal runs for five years.

Moreover I am not aware of anything in the contract that would prevent Mr Ashley from selling it to a third party.

As it stands the main man at Newcastle United is making plenty from the Ibrox Superstore.

I would imagine that the people trying to keep the Sevco bus on the road would be displeased at this PR solo run today.

The outworking is that one of the few people who might have been willing to buy into the Open Offer, at least to some extent, has probably been totally alienated.

Everyone around the Ibrox Boardroom table now knows the severity of the financial situation.

They are also aware of the only realistic option.

A brutally austere Administration will reduce the cost base, but some ‘Onerous Contracts’ will remain.

Only liquidation will kill them off.

In the school of bad decisions the board really should have gone with the plan that was presented to them in February.

A two week Administration would have put them in good shape and they were well ahead in the league.

It would have been the smart move; they had working capital and some financial wriggle room.

This was the option that Graham Wallace was strongly advising.

Instead the RIFC board opted to keep the show on the road through shareholder loans from the Easdales and Laxey Partners.

Now the creditors are now beginning to line up.

The statement to the London Stock Exchange last week is unequivocal and does not need to be deciphered for anyone.

This is a company in severe financial distress.

However all that highly qualified people like Philip Nash can do is to provide well evidenced options to the people who will ultimately make the decisions.

So the naming rights are gone, but perhaps other things have been sold that The People are not currently aware of.

It would be in keeping with Charlie’s business plan to extract the maximum profit from the club that he set up with the body parts of Rangers (1872-2012).

    That is undeniable.

Well that got me thinking dear reader.

    It really did.

In the footie financial firmament image rights are the hot ticket at the moment.

Now that can mean cashing in on Wayne Rooney’s matinee idol good looks, but it can also mean the imagery of a club.

What if, only supposition on my part of course you understand, someone else owned the Rangers badge?

Moreover, what if the use of that image was already a nice little earner for someone other than the two year old club?

Indeed I would not be surprised if one day it became incorporated into the heraldic crest of Charles of Normandy.

Meanwhile at Ibrox they are playing a new game this week.

It is called ‘find the administrator’.

Positive loans made permanent were Sammi , poor ones miku, lassad ,brozek etc etc , only wish the dearer ones were loans I.e shiedt ,pukki ,balde ,mo etc etc , guiditta loan is correct imo , does well and fit in make it long term, as stating the obvious being fit and having a sustained run in the team is paramount, imagine we had spent 4-5 Million on forrest ffs , it could be argued so far it’s been a waste, very similar to the likes of P o’Donnell (rip) smashing player who just couldn’t put a run of games together! ! Loan deal for JG is win win, I have no doubt if he does well he’ll sign longer! !! HH
