There’s only one John Guidetti

1256

I’m beginning to believe some of the ‘Unseen..’ paranoia that goes around town myself.  Absolutely delighted, and a bit surprised, Fifa ratified John Guidetti’s transfer to Celtic.  He’s a player we have tried to buy for three consecutive summer transfer windows; this guy has been watched, courted and pursued by Celtic, Feyenoord, Ajax and no doubt a whole lot more.

Since his marquee season in Rotterdam he’s come through debilitating illness but is now healthy, if in need of some match sharpness.

He is ineligible for the Europa League group stage but will be available for the round of 32 through to the final in Warsaw.

There was a real meeting of minds between player and club on Monday; he liked the way we went about our business and people at the club were impress with his personality.  Apparently, he’s another “strong character” to add to the others who have arrived at the club over the last week.

If only we had a song for him….

“Most excited by Guidetti as I have been for god knows how long – probably since Sutton. He could be pish but i hope he does well enough to want to stay but not too well that he is poached by some championship level pish!”

I don`t know for sure the position on the sell-on clause but it was reported that Newcastle were to get a percentage of Celtic`s profit on the sale as opposed to a percentage of the total transfer fee.

We bought him for £2 million so Newcastle would be due a percentage of £8 million. If we say the percentage due to Newcastle is 20% then that’s £1.6 million taking Celtic`s net profit from the trade in this player to £6.4 million, this being the £10m paid by Southampton minus the £2m we originally paid Newcastle to buy him in 2012, minus the further monies due to Newcastle under the sell-on clause.

That’s not bad work at all, especially if Craig Gordon stays fit and in form.

  12. It’s good to see all the excitement on here about Guidetti with suggested song lyrics etc., but what about poor old Scepovic?

He’s the guy who is fit and will be probably playing in the EL games.

So, come on, what rhymes with Scepovic?

    Magnificentseven,

aye its a great course, the gully from the medal tees must be one of the

hardest holes going, dont know when you last played it but the road hole is now just a par 4,blooming monster it is

It’s been a while but I am sure the road hole was a par 4 originally, I could be wrong though, do you still put your ball in a tube to keep your place or do you book a time like a normal course

  15. Been reading back there and clearly Dalmuir is the course to play.

What would be the arrangements for booking a game there – can you do that in advance if you don’t live in the area?

  16. What if, only supposition on my part of course you understand, someone else owned the Rangers badge?

Moreover, what if the use of that image was already a nice little earner for someone other than the two year old club?

Indeed I would not be surprised if one day it became incorporated into the heraldic crest of Charles of Normandy.

    He wouldn’t……would he?

    Yeah……of course he would.

your correct. I did not factor in newcastle’s percentage and the possibility of payments over a period of time. I was not suggesting I had knowledge of any financial agreements and that was why my question was directed at Paul and the blog. To see if anyone did.

Dalmuir is a terrific course and as it’s a municipal one, I think you can book at least 7 days in advance (maybe even more)… just remember the oxygen masks/cannisters from 13th tee through to the 16th tee (16 plays downhill) and back up the 17th.. make sure you have your will in place too…. apart from that, enjoy :)

The 3rd hole is a bit of a climb too

Happy to offer a hole by hole guide if required :)
