There’s only one John Guidetti

I’m beginning to believe some of the ‘Unseen..’ paranoia that goes around town myself.  Absolutely delighted, and a bit surprised, Fifa ratified John Guidetti’s transfer to Celtic.  He’s a player we have tried to buy for three consecutive summer transfer windows; this guy has been watched, courted and pursued by Celtic, Feyenoord, Ajax and no doubt a whole lot more.

Since his marquee season in Rotterdam he’s come through debilitating illness but is now healthy, if in need of some match sharpness.

He is ineligible for the Europa League group stage but will be available for the round of 32 through to the final in Warsaw.

There was a real meeting of minds between player and club on Monday; he liked the way we went about our business and people at the club were impress with his personality.  Apparently, he’s another “strong character” to add to the others who have arrived at the club over the last week.

If only we had a song for him….

Nothing to worry about, you have proof of purchase either with paper receipt or it will be lodged on line by the TC. Just go back and ask for a print of tickets.

I thought you ripped your application up?

We’re you hoping bcw caught you before kick-off in the maribor game?

  4. BT,

Just realised you are a year older than me.

Barney eventually went to Celtic boys, though I often thought ‘what the feck is his right leg for’.

Noticed Largs was mentioned, lots of familiar names.

So, what’s the latest with legs, old age settling in?

    timbhoy in spain,

The huns will be punting on their cousins for sure :))

The odds are a bit short for my liking though they’ll be a lot shorter if they do go into admin.

    Here’s hoping.

mickbhoy1888. He has been on our radar for at least 3 seasons. I believe we wanted him on loan but he chose to go to Stoke City but it didnt work out for him there. H.H. .

I never said Celtic didn’t want John Guidetti.

I have known for some time that Celtic had an interest in John Guidetti.

It is my personal view that he would be a big risk to sign on a permanent basis ,due to his health problems.

My earlier post was that Celtic got exactly what they wanted .

Skeptovic was their first choice .

Guidetti a last minute back up.

If they got him ,then fine,if they didn’t then they had Skeptovic.

We only went after Guidetti when the Skeptovic deal almost fell through.

As for Paul 67 saying that we tried to sign Guidetti previously, I don’t buy that.

Neil Lennon was on Sky TV on Monday night.

He stated that Guidetti was a player that Celtic had been keeping an eye on for a few seasons.

He made no mention that he had actually tried to sign him.

I was very care in how I worded my previous post.

“Celtic got exactly what they wanted.”

I do admit that I think they were not overly keen to have the two players on our wage bill, but they had obviously decided that it would be a short term outgoing that they could balance out in the January window if necessary.

  10. With everyone fit, how about………….

    Lustig VVD Denayer Izzy

    Brown Kayal Johansen

    Scepovic Guidetti

Subs: Zaluska McGregor Mulgrew Matthews Forrest Stokes Ambrose

So many options it is almost tricky…….might even have missed some players out….like Jo Inge for example…..but fun right enough. :-)

Indeed I would not have risked upsetting Big Pat RIP with such an expression.

Nor did I intend to so insult anybody else.

Ex Scot was a clumsy ( & inaccurate) way of saying no-longer resident in Alba.

I am not normally so inept with our language as I have been this evening.

I will blame our country’s most famous product.

    Good Luck.

Stokes and Griffiths have and will continue to score goals in the SPL given the opportunity.

They have never let us down in the SPL.

I’m glad the op went well, recovery will take a week so will you be fit for the Blane Valley next Friday.

  15. Joe Filippis Haircut on

TinyTim. Over a season we will require all our playing squad and competition is good for the players. H.H.

Anyone tried to purchase a season ticket or request a move recently ? It’s a amazing how few seats are available in the lower tiers.

  17. prestonpans bhoys dam justice for the 5 on

Correct but you have to play them in the right position………

Catch a grip……….the missus is in the room watching TV ! You need to start issuing warnings or my chances will diminish.

  19. “We probably don’t have it in our budget to pay the wages of the two players without releasing another.

Celtic were in total control of the situation.

Celtic have gotten the outcome that they wanted.”

TT, this is your quote from before guidetti was approved.

I took it to mean that you thought celtic were happy not to have signed JG.

I agree lenny didn’t say we tried to sign him. That’s not to say we haven’t tried to.

  20. So even the deepest of mineshafters, those that go to Australia in their lunch break, will concede that we have come out the transfer window better than we went into it??

  21. blantyretim is praying for the Knox family on

did u phone your gp, asked HT to give you an earful this morning…

    maybe too early next Friday

  22. Geordie Munro

Re reading my quote I too think it reads that I felt that Celtic didn’t want both at once.

It is not what I meant .

I think they weren’t fussy if we got him this window,as we had Skeptovic in the bag.

Having signed him it is only an issue until January when we can offload a player to reduce the wage bill.

I’m hoping that player isn’t Kris Commons or VVD.

  23. Joe Filippis Haircut on

GeordieMunro. Take it to the bookies we tried to sign Guidetti on loan when Lennie was manager but he chose to go to Stoke City. H.H.

  24. Just Another Tim on

    et al,

Any info on any fees involved with the loan captures we have brought in this window. Are we just paying players wages and have only spent £2.3-2.7 million on Scepovic while banking £10 for Forster?

  25. “I think they weren’t fussy if we got him this window,as we had Skeptovic in the bag.”

I can’t argue with that. I wasnt fussy either.:)

    Chuffed he’s here now though.

question for you………………. if we went to FIFA to get the reg ratified then why can we not appeal to UEFA for the inclusionof big John to the EL?
