This is a dead football club

899

We are five days away from the end of the season, Duff and Phelps have spent 10 weeks trying to solicit an offer for the assets of the company and the only one they were in a position to consider has now been withdrawn.

The stadium remains in Craig Whyte’s hands.

The SPL has not offered a place in the league.

The players can choose to become free agents on Sunday.

Duff and Phelps have no money to pay anyone or anything after 31 May.

Are you getting the picture?

Whatever ‘good news’ Duff and Phelps come out with later, or ‘Rangers to benefit from Miller withdrawal’ you read about tomorrow, not one piece of positive news has gone Rangers way in weeks.

This is a dead football club. If there was an accountancy term beyond liquidation, perhaps uber-liquidation, they would be uber-liquidated (there’s not, but if this gets any worse the English language will need some re-work).

Yesterday’s delay was the most complete confirmation possible, for anyone still harbouring doubt, today’s message from Miller should be no surprise to Celtic Quick News readers.

Miller’s parting shot:

“After hearing the message from Rangers supporters and fans loud and clear (“Yank go home!”), I notified the administrators today that I have withdrawn my bid for Rangers”.

…has the makings of a topic for a business doctorate, if anyone is looking for one.  I’d elaborate but reckon we’re all a little carried away at the moment for serious debate.

The histrionics since yesterday and, if you don’t mind me saying, lack of appreciation of these historic times, would dishonour teenage girls (no offense teenage girls).

Please stop with all the silliness, indignation and faux trauma.  Some football supporters have real issues to worry about.

  11. Boss Hogg Miller took one look at the fine details of the ‘legacy contracts’ and realised rangers were a corpse floating face down in a tide of financial filth.

The ‘legacy contracts’ being Ticketus and the mortgaging of the catering.

Duff&Duffer also stated these were irrelevant at one point as well.

They are either the worst administrators in history or have played a blinder for Craigy bhoy and his goal of the liquidation of rangers.

I am backing the second one.

Fair amount of scepticism re D&P’s claim about new #Rangers bidders. Their claims still need to be reported whether fans believe it or not.

  15. These Rangers boys are not to be messed with, more emails to Miller.

    Ha Ha Ha, clowns.

  16. Finally, I understand karma.

Huns fans, encouraged by Grandmaster Suck himself, bombarded Miller with abusive emails, thus demonstrating to him more clearly than anything else, just what a cesspit he was about to buy into.

As a result, the coffin lid is slammed shut on their odious club.

  17. I’m happy tonight, happy that I’m a Tim and I don’t have to hear munters like Mingwall and McCoist representing my club, you two sleekit cowardly slugs deserve all ye get and I hope it’s sore, really sore for you both…

A lifetime of suffering would be too good for you..

Neil in tomorrow’s Scotsman say huns irrelevant to Celtic’s plans

    huns irrelevant full stop.

  18. According to the smart American chap on Newsnight, sounds like the RFCiA fans wern’t exactly welcoming… ‘several hundred’ emails delivering varying levels of abuse. ‘not worth spending a chunk of his kids inheritance on’…

Assurances from SPL wern’t in place

  19. James Forrest is Neil Lennon! We are ALL Neil Lennon! on

The Celtic Trust team didn’t have listen to one load of baloney tonight.

I know it’s not strictly kosher to call someone a liar, but to paraphrase a famous Parliamentary exchange, if Doncaster is not drunk he is certainly incapable.

“SFA had imposed a 12 month registration embargo (not a transfer embargo so players can go out to a Newco for instance)”

Tell me what that means, in English. Isn’t the “registration embargo” as opposed to the “transfer embargo” precisely WHY the players can’t go to a Newco?

They then seem to contradict this later with this line …

“c) Newco would be obliged under the TUPE regulations to take on all employees (who wanted to transfer) on the same terms and conditions – so they would, in fact, have all the player registrations.

In my understanding, under TUPE, they do NOT own the player registrations; the players need to RE-SIGN for the club and thus a whole new set of registrations are required here.

“The sanctions imposed on Rangers (Oldco) would not pass to the Newco.”

So, there it is, at last, publicly accepted. A Newco is the full-scale Get Out of Jail Free card I suspected it was. If Rangers NewCo then they get off scott free, with all of it. No debt. No penalties.

Which is then contradicted by this bit:

“The application to join (ie to have the Rangers share passed to Newco) could be on the basis that they would shoulder the sanctions imposed on Rangers or it could be that they would not shoulder this responsibility.”

That sounds legally un-enforceable considering the above. What are they hoping for? A gentleman’s agreement? Nonsense ….

And my favourite part, and please don’t shoot the messenger ….

“UEFA are not involved in this at all except in relation to their own competition. In that regard, a CVA would lead to a one year ban from European competition and a Newco would have a three year ban (as a consequence of having to provide three year’s accounts to take part in the competition). UEFA are currently looking at increasing the CVA penalty to three years and ND/IB interpret this as UEFA saying that there is little difference between the two possible routes out of administration.”

I told you, do NOT look to Nyon for a resolution here. They are not going to get involved in this, in any way.

  20. To be fair though,…Bill maybe shouldn’t have taken those Go Home Yank emails so seriously.

Im sure Ishmael T Glove, U.R Indeshitt, Rose R. Rebeads, Vincent De Paul, S.P.L. Naemare, Bill D.Gallows, Kerry Dalestree, Joos Kahn Getanov, and ole Jurgen Bustjakunts were just havin a laugh.

  21. Duff and Phelps statement tomorrow – delight at new bidders that have come forward since Bill Miller withdrew his bid, and are looking forward to picking the preferred bidder.
