We are five days away from the end of the season, Duff and Phelps have spent 10 weeks trying to solicit an offer for the assets of the company and the only one they were in a position to consider has now been withdrawn.
The stadium remains in Craig Whyte’s hands.
The SPL has not offered a place in the league.
The players can choose to become free agents on Sunday.
Duff and Phelps have no money to pay anyone or anything after 31 May.
Are you getting the picture?
Whatever ‘good news’ Duff and Phelps come out with later, or ‘Rangers to benefit from Miller withdrawal’ you read about tomorrow, not one piece of positive news has gone Rangers way in weeks.
This is a dead football club. If there was an accountancy term beyond liquidation, perhaps uber-liquidation, they would be uber-liquidated (there’s not, but if this gets any worse the English language will need some re-work).
Yesterday’s delay was the most complete confirmation possible, for anyone still harbouring doubt, today’s message from Miller should be no surprise to Celtic Quick News readers.
Miller’s parting shot:
“After hearing the message from Rangers supporters and fans loud and clear (“Yank go home!”), I notified the administrators today that I have withdrawn my bid for Rangers”.
…has the makings of a topic for a business doctorate, if anyone is looking for one. I’d elaborate but reckon we’re all a little carried away at the moment for serious debate.
The histrionics since yesterday and, if you don’t mind me saying, lack of appreciation of these historic times, would dishonour teenage girls (no offense teenage girls).
Please stop with all the silliness, indignation and faux trauma. Some football supporters have real issues to worry about.

Beeb2 guy interviewing Stephen Morrow just now repeats ‘walking away’ and asks what chance of a Whyte Knight (sic) appearing any time soon.

That’s what you sign when you buy a hybrid incubator…
Oh yes, how did I forget this one?
“Extra Contract allegation – subject to an SPL investigation which, if a prima facie case is established would then either refer it to an independent commission to investigate and decide the punishment if they are found guilty, or it would be done by the SPL Board or a sub-committee of the SPL Board.”
Now, having PROMISED an independent commission would handle this, this, the MOST SERIOUS ISSUE EVER TO FACE SCOTTISH SPORT, he is now reversing his position by seeming to suggest the SPL board, with all its commercial considerations, “might” do it instead.
This has all the hallmarks of exactly the blatant, stinking stitch-up we are worried about. Their determination NOT to punish Rangers is rock solid.
Riegart Demo = Good Tims btw. H H

The first time I saw Stephen Morrow on the box talking about them, I posted the same, RTC, I was informed, can’t remember from whom that I was wrong, still not convinced btw.
We will find out soon enough who he is, maybes.

Sabre67:
As I said above, Neil Doncaster has tonight indicated to the CSA and Trust that this issue might be handled by the SPL board or even a “sub committee” of the SPL board. If you expect them to expel Rangers from the league you are kidding yourself on mate. Prepare to be severely scunnered.

“Fair amount of scepticism re D&P’s claim about new #Rangers bidders. Their claims still need to be reported whether fans believe it or not.”
I am predicting the bidder will be the same guy that bid £10m for Jelavic last summer

There is a man who deals a lot in doublespeak and obfuscation.
I’ll deal with the sanctions first of all. The two situations aren’t mutually exclusive and it’s important to separate the individual actions from the eventual outcome. He’s right, you can’t apply the OldCo sanctions(say 10 point penalty for easyness) to the NewCo, that would be illegal. However you can make it a condition entry to the SPL that in season one they shall start with a 10 point deficit. If NewCo does not wish to accept that they will not be granted the SPL place. Two separate actions that have the same outcome. I suppose there’s potential for the entry requirements to be seen as restriction of trade or something similar but I doubt it.
The whole registrations issue is very cloudy. There would be nothing to stop NewCo owning and paying a player but having him unable to play because he wasn’t able to be registered. I can’t foresee a circumstance where any owner (or player) would be happy to do that, nevertheless it’s possible. Same with TUPE, the player contracts could transfer from OldCo to NewCo, even if the registration to play did not. This would mean OldCo would hold the asset to sell. Having just written that I’ve realised the registration ban could allow them to trade players without ever registering them to play. Interesting take from ND there.
Probably very little of what he says is actually untrue, technically. Just highly unlikely ever to come to pass or swamped in semantics.
Paul67,
