TIERNEY ONE OF FIVE EX-CELTS IN SCOTS CALL-UP

THERE are no Celtic players in the Scotland squad for the friendly against Turkey a week tonight after Ange Postecoglou insisted it was a priority for them to go with the squad to Australia, as CQN  reported earlier today.

However, there are FIVE former Hoops stars who will make the trip after Steve Clarke announced a 23-man squad this afternoon.

Goalkeeper Craig Gordon, defenders Jack Hendry and Kieran Tierney and midfielders Stuart Armstrong and Kieran Tierney are all heading for Diyarbakir as the Scots prepare for next year’s Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.

The match against the Turks takes place before the champions face the local side in the Sydney Super Cup and then Frank Lampard’s Everton three days later.

THE HIGH JUMP…Ryan Christie hurdles a Ukrainian defender at Hampden.

Anthony Ralston, Greg Taylor, David Turnbull and James Forrest will all be performing in Oz after any chance of an international call-up was knocked back by Postecoglou who believes it is better they are involved with the Hoops Down Under.
