Time on the bench gave Hooper space

1040

This season, Gary Hooper has looked well below form of last term; his touch, movement and goals record don’t match up, but he came off the bench on Thursday to score a truly excellent goal.  Controlling a difficult ball in the centre circle, with defenders in close attendance, he picked out Giorgios Samaras before sprinting past his markers and finishing.

The winner against Motherwell was less spectacular but required sharp movement and spatial awareness.

Footballers cannot always play through bad form, sometimes they need a break, even for an hour on the bench, to get a different perspective on how they and the team play.

Despite his return to form I would retain the same 4-2-3-1 formation against Inverness next time out.

Issue 4 of CQN Magazine is out next week, let me know if you would like to advertise, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

In your opinion what would that decision be then if the board have to make a decision on behalf of the shareholders, bearing in mind all the sideshow ?

Just incase the final doubters maybe believed Motherwell were just maybe a team who didnt show up agains the ‘bog boys.

John was a big mate of mine and I was/am lucky enough to have known and walked with the man. I wouldn’t allow a bad word against that giant in any company.

just to add to what celtic40rme has stated on back pain believe me mate i have years of experiance. Will not bore you with the details suffice to say in recent years when pain is absent so have been the stretches. The strians always returned.Since early summer every morning i,ve done a serious of stretches & now i am off the pain killers ,anti inflams and have golfed every weekend. My dailly work can also be physical but the stretching routine

has been the best answer yet & i,m nae spring chicken.HH.

  10. You can kid some of the people some of the time but you cant kid all of the people all of the time. Are you listening P & D? Get your heads out of the sand for God sake.!!!!

  11. The Ghood will prevail on

yeah, dacker, but if the board know that half the celtic season book holders – supporters – will chuck it if the club throws the huns a lifeline, then it becomes all about protecting the shareholders by precisely not doing that.

ATTENTION – write – don’t email – write a letter to Peter Lawwell NOW to say you won’t give Celtic another penny if they save the huns.

It will take you five minutes, and cost you a stamp.

    Stop moaning, ACT!

The address is 95 Kerrydale Street, Glasgow G40 3RE

And if you don’t act, then for God’s sake don’t come on here moaning after the event.

  12. It depends Exiled, whether they take the long game or the short game, short game the huns need to stay in business, long game they can argue that the benifit to the shareholders is for them to be on their own, go to EPL or to be honest just to become the dominant financially (and by default playing wise), my point actually is that there are rules which determine their decison, they can of course manipulate them , but they can of course say to the SPL SFA that they cannot vote for the reinstatement of the Rangers because it is contrary to there shareholders interests, that overisdes every other rule, except those adudged by a court of law

  17. The Ghood will prevail, unfortunatly (and i agree with your end game) all I am saying is that the club cannot act contrary to the rules or laws, unfortunatly you are a customer (forgive me if you are a shareholder) M&S do not consult their customers before taking stragetic business decisions, and as woody allen would say as startegic decions go this is a biggie, in fact the biggest, your argument should be go for the long game not the short term sticking plaster

Motherwell have done a lot of damage to Celtic over the past decade with ex Rangers players as coaches

    Enough said right enough

  19. I’m sure most of you have read it but this is from the Celtic Facebook page….

In response to today’s Celtic Internet rumours, a spokesman for the club said : ‘The story is absolute nonsense and it’s disappointing that Celtic supporters have been misled in this way’

    Hmmmmm

  20. The No.13 Shorts on

Perhaps another way to look at the Phil article is to ask who might benefit from Celtic fans apoplectic denunciation of such a scenario?

The PLC may be using the en-masse outrage to demonstrate to ‘others’ that Celtic’s hands are tied and that they must decide as per the supporters wishes, or suffer the backlash.

Or maybe I’ve just been watching too many Harry Palmer Movies.

    On which note, Quiz Time!

Who is famously quoted as saying:

“We want to work with the state to get a satisfactory resolution with this so we can continue to develop as a business.”

    Was it –

    A: Harry Palmer

    B: Peter Lawell

  21. Dacker

I honestly don’t think it will come to pass that the club have to vote, but if they did I would hope they chose the long term scenario, cos any other would be financial suicide.

Personally I implore the board to use this as an effective escape route, I have no doubts uefa would be supportive, they will relish the oportunity to punish the hun in a backhanded way, it’s well known privately what they think about the hun.

Only time will tell, but with the amount of court cases looming on the horizon, this is the chance of a lifetime to rid ourselfs of the hate directed our way.

    Resign Celtic.

If Hooper had been offside I am sure that Richmond would have spotted it ….. after all, he had a great game and is so highly thought of by his association that he was given the match of the day.
