In his Q&A session with the Daily Record yesterday, outgoing SPFL chairman, Ralph Topping touched on the subject of who knew what when, regarding Rangers slide into liquidation saying:
“There wasn’t one single person ever who envisaged this case happening. You tell me who pointed out that this was going to happen – did you?
“The biggest assumption about the set-up in the SPL would be that you would have Rangers and Celtic playing in it in perpetuity – nobody thought that those two bastions of football would ever be involved in anything like this and nobody flagged it up.”
Well, in October 2011 I knew. This CQN article from 27 October 2011 notes in very specific detail Rangers were going to liquidate, a phoenix would be created which wanted direct access to the SPL (the top flight at that time). I got the timing wrong, predicting the phoenix would take place during the season, but to be fair, it later became clear this was Craig Whyte’s plan at the time.
Ralph Topping’s SPL knew too. Rangers alerted them to the situation that very month. The SPL spend November, December and January preparing the ground for Rangers administration and liquidation, a period during which a new TV deal was signed.

I can’t believe that I am reading suggestions that we encourage our own Fans to somehow miss, and undermine, the Flag Ceremony of what is a hard-earned, thoroughly well-deserved, and likely only Invincible Treble EVER! What a crap and ill-thought-out suggestion that is. (Unless of course it is just a sleekit plant from the dark side).
Whatever else is happening just now, our own Players, Manager, Staff, Board and Supporters do NOT deserve anything other than 100% Support and recognition of this truly unique and magnificent achievement!
Let’s get 100% behind the players for raising the Flag and not spoil this special moment. An Invincible Treble may never happen again in your or my lifetime, if indeed ever again.
There will be plenty of other opportunities to vent our spleen on those who deserve all that’s coming to them!

Sorry Gerry, that’s not what I want. I want the cheating to be exposed and appropriate sanctions taken. If that’s not forthcoming I want Celtic to take the correct action on behalf of all of us. Only then do I want the support to become involved out of necessity. I dont think refusing away tickets at Hamilton etc. would have the same effect as something that would get a national airing.
I absolutely don’t want to be in that position but if so I feel that would make the loudest statement, gutted as I would be at having the need to make it.
Only my opinion so apologise if it came across as something else.

You know fine well that nobody on here or amongst the wider Celtic support is blaming Celtic, or the plc board, for the Huns having committed their tax scam and consequent cheating.
Nobody blames Celtic for having been cheated. It was a decision the Huns took to satisfy the narcisstic tendencies of their chairman and the greed and supremacist mindset of their support base and everyone knows Celtic were not party to the Huns decision to cheat.
However people are rightly asking questions about the Celtic plc board’s actions and inactions since the scam and the cheating came to light.
Their initial reticence towards Res 12.
The plc board’s decision to allow Campbell Ogilvie to be elected unopposed as SFA president in 2013 despite his pivotal involvement in the EBTs being public knowledge by then and Regan having already referred to him as “conflicted”.
Peter Lawwell bemoaning the loss of £10 million per annum when a form of Rangers was not in the league.
Dermot Desmond referring to Rangers as a “great club with great fans and we miss the rivalry”.
No one in authority at Celtic challenging the same club/ continuity myth and official club publications calling Billy Frankenstein’s 11 “Rangers” rather than their proper title.
Remember at the time the cheating was being unmasked and investigated by courts and the football governing bodies, Celtic were represented on both the SFA professional game board and the SPL board.
Then bringing it up to date we have the choreography of post Supreme Court decision (sc) Celtic calling for a review into the LNS decision, Peter Lawwell resigning from the SPFL board 2 days before the SPFL releases a fudge based on pre-sc legal opinion saying no punishment for the mob calling itself Rangers with a review to learn lessons for future.
All while the Sevco Huns by their own admission continue to spend money they don’t have or “sustainably over investing” as Gliberace calls it.
Given this context it’s not surprising that people are asking questions of Celtic Plc board’s actions and inactions since 2011/12.
But don’t ever twist this legitimate questioning into people saying Celtic are to blame for being cheated. You know fine well that’s not the case.
