TREBLE BLOW AS JOTA LEADS CROCKS

DANGERMAN Filipe Jota has been ruled OUT of the Premiership encounter with Hibs at Parkhead tomorrow afternoon.

The Portuguese winger didn’t reappear after the interval in the 2-1 win over St Johnstone in Perth last weekend and sat out the 2-0 loss to RB Leipzig in Glasgow in midweek.

Ange Postecoglou will be without the services of Jota for the visit of the Easter Road side and revealed Stephen Welsh and David Turnbull would also sit out tomorrow afternoon’s Battle of the Greens.

The Hoops boss, speaking to Sky Sports, said: “Jota’s not available again. We’ve just got to be a bit conservative with him and we expect him to be back in training next week at some point.

OUT…David Turnbull will miss the visit of Hibs.

“David Turnbull picked up a bit of a knock on his ankle, so he’s out. Stephen Welsh also picked up a knock in training.”

Cameron Carter-Vickers, captain in place of the crocked Callum McGregor, and Moritz Jenz are likely to continue in central defence after teaming up against the Bundesliga outfit.

Liel Abada, who came off before half-time after suffering a knock on his left knee on Tuesday, is fit again and will almost certainly get the nod to face Lee Johnson’s visitors.

Evergreen James Forrest and Sead Haksabanovic, who both featured against the German outfit, are available while Postecoglou could field Alexandro Bernabei on the left just ahead of Greg Taylor.

OUT…Stephen Welsh is sidelined through injury.

The versatile Argentinian performer came on for the toiling Daizen Maeda in the 80th minute in the Champions League match.

Points are paramount for Postecoglou with the champions offered the opportunity to go five clear at the top with their nearest challengers not in action until Sunday when they take on Motherwell at Fir Park with a noon kick-off.

The Hoops will play at the same venue as they continue the defence of their Premier Sports League Cup on Wednesday with a 6.15pm commencement.
