UNIQUE ANGLE: KYOGO – 56 AND COUNTING

0

CRACKSHOT Kyogo Furuhashi took his Celtic goal tally to 56 in just over two years with his whiplash right-foot effort in the 3-1 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie yesterday,

The Japanese international striker seized on a misdirected header from the unfortunate Nicky Devlin to drive a blistering shot wide of the helpless Kelle Roos to put Brendan Rodgers’ men back in front after Bojan Miovski had levelled Liel Abada’s opener.

Matt O’Riley made certain the points were heading back to the home of the champions when he struck near the end after some brilliant lead-up play from South Korean new Bhoy Yang Hyun-jun on the left.

Kyogo opened his account for this season with the second goal in the 4-2 victory over Ross County at Parkhead the previous weekend.

The 28-year-old raider, bought for a bargain £4.6million from Vissel Kobe in July 2021, was sidelined for four months with two separate injuries in his debut campaign, but still managed to claim 20 goals.

Last term, he thumped in 34, including a double in the 2-1 Viaplay League Cup Final triumph over Michael Beale’s Ibrox side and a single in the 3-1 Scottish Cup Final success over Inverness Caley Thistle.
