Use Wolfsburg to find desperately needed sharpness

1058

If you’ve been here for a while you’ll have noticed I don’t pay much attention to preseason friendlies but tomorrow’s game against Wolfsburg takes on a more serious tone after Tuesday’s reversal – Celtic desperately need to find sharpness.

Despite the well-placed confidence that we’ll cope comfortably at Celtic Park on Wednesday against Lincoln Red Imps, the serious challenges will come thick and fast thereafter.

Players need to find their edge and the manager needs to learn who goes where and works with whom. It’s just about possible for us to get things together, but whoever we pull out of the hat in today’s provisional third qualifying round draw will be delighted to catch a team in apparent flux.

All this brings us back to Wolfsburg’ a much needed test.

Re the earlier chat about afterlife n all that jazz, here’s a good programme I watched ages ago.

The moral of the tale is that the earth,it’s existence and it’s suitability for life had such freak, outlandish odds evolving that it’s hard not to entertain the thought that perhaps there is something behind the notion of a divine creator.

    It’s a good watch besides.

The Plc ask us to ask the SFA I’m beginning to think it’s a learning or mental health problem you have, maybe I being cruel just thinking it’s stupidity, there could be some retardation in there. I think I’d better rethink how I respond to you as it doesn’t do to be taking advantage of people who have mental problems.

  3. Anyway I’m done with this fear less leader, a mean you just have to look at the attitude in his posts, a five card trick if ever there was one. Contradicts himself on a daily basis, and spins like a Daily Record reporter, a laugh a minute, in charge of negotiation A res?

How can anyone possibly hazard a guess at the odds. We have such little comparable data as to

What constitutes the equivalent to human life on a planet

How many planets and solar systems there are (The Sun is one of about 200 billion plus stars in our Milky Way Galaxy alone- how many other s are in other galaxies?

How many solar systems there are- There may be tens of billions of solar systems and its only a few years ago that we found the first ONE outwith our own Milky Way

These few we know about and those few we have anything abut cursory data on means any calculation of the odds would be a question of “Guesswork in and Guesswork out”. All we can know for sure is that we have not made reliable contact with other human life but we can deduce nothing from this absence of data.

Correct. The Club sold the fans down the river. The Board aided and abetted the new club because as Lawwell advised it was a £10M financial hit. Of course the club knew that they would be pushed and cajoled to speak up or do something. Zilch. Lawwell strung everybody along.

At the same time it was decided to reduce costs further as no competition. This went to the stage of hiring a Norwegian junior club manager and selling every decent player to be replaced by Ciftci, Cole, Richards and the rest of the dross.

This season nothing has changed. Lawwell will screw the fans again. He is a beancounter who will manage the costs down to deliver his own bonus based on financial KPIs.

Lawwell has systematically dismantled our squad / team from the Seville days whilst lining his own pockets to the tune of £10M.

As long as Lawwell is at the club the slide will continue. CL qualification will not happen while the architect of deceit / downsizing is in situ. Furthermore if Lawwell remains in place 6IAR will not happen. He is synonymous with all that is wrong with Celtic.

Pay him £5M so he goes now.

  15. MJallby’s admission that Efe always has a mistake in him is strange.

Why then when he was a member of the coaching staff who picked Efe to play inane area where mistakes are costly did they not alter things?

They could have played him as defensive midfielder where at least there was another line of protection behind him to clean up his mistakes.

Or they should have planned to replace.

Our defense lacks a leader in the Tony Adams mould. One who directs those around him.

Not having a number one central defender in the last few seasons has cost us.

Brendan should prioritize that and the central midfield area as we have suffered due to lack of a spine.

I believe young McCart and O’Connell are our future there but we need to bring in a wise leader for now.

  16. Just logged on from earlier

Res12 guys – Take a bow. Its out there and is still active AFAIC.

Canamallsr – dont get involved in the recent exchanges re mental health stuff. Ignore and move on.

TD – I may be wrong but thought you posted support when the Res12 guys posted about the response from Uefa ?.

Anyway disappointed the club have let us ALL down if they have backtracked. Gutless !

    HH

  17. My reading is that Offishul Celtic, reckoned that nothing tangible was likely to come from Res12 and that they would suffer a political & business backlash if they were seen to be directly involved.

So they cowardly stood aside and let the bhoys carry the bomb.

If mission was against all the odds successful they would reap the benefit and if the b omb blew up in our faces the Res12 bhoys would be the casualties.

If anything this only increases my admiration for the fearless four, I said in a recent post, in every cause tis only a few do the fighting the rest sit on the sidelines either cheering or jeering.

I do hope it comes to some conclusion soon for the 4 bhoys sake, they need to get on with the rest of their lives but for me they will always be up there with my Celtic legends,

  18. Guys ,

Anyone got Brendan’s mobile number ?

I think I’ve stumbled upon a tactical master plan that’ll win us the champions’ league .

Play the same team , the same way that they played against red imps but ( excluding Gordon ) turn them around 90 degrees .

So you would have a 3 5 2 but ( wait for it ) 50 % of the Broony and Biton passes would go forward .

    We’d run riot .

Now the down side is that KT would be playing up front and the teacake muncher would play at right back but they boys are good enough to play anywhere .

    Simples .

Now it means you would have

  19. Thoroughly enjoyed reading the last CQN 12 pages. Feisty to say the least.

Firstly, the horror of the latest mass murder spree in France is sign of the times we live in. An angry mentally ill man carries out a revenge attack on the society he blames for his ills. It’s stupid to blame any religion for such attacks other than to argue many mass murderers find solace in religion. What came first the chicken or the egg?

Secondly Res12. Regardless of anything else, respect is due to those involved in their quest to get answers to questions that should be asked for the sake of the games integrity.

Lastly, Celtic. A lot of meaningless hullabaloo written about the Gibraltar debacle. BR obviously needs time to make his mark and then can be judged re progress. Lets revisit after say 10 competitive games in charge. He will have learned more from that defeat than any victory could have told him. At least his superhuman status among some in our support has been given a reality check.

    Who set them?

    Based on what likelihoods?

It would be like me setting odds on how many green bananas there were in an unknown planet in an unknown solar system which may or may not exist.

We do not have the parameters to set the odds other than to say it is, on known factors, either 8 to 1 or 9 to 1 , dependant on if you count Pluto

Afraid I don’t remember that and I think I apologised to everyone I missed, so if you didn’t get an apology then I have no problem apologising now. Sorry I missed your offer. At no time did I spurn any offers of support deliberately but that obviously does not help you with your first impression.

As for being an “ignorant bastard of a man” I wouldn’t use the word ignorant I’m actually quite knowledgable, I’d probably go with arrogant because sometimes I can come across as being arrogant even when I don’t mean to be, it’s a flaw I have noticed myself and I am working on it. You’ll note that treatment is reserved for special antagonists as I am quite capable of having civilised discussions, and actually prefer to be civilised but I’m never averse to standing my ground when snide bawbags are simply out to antagonise me for no other reason than they want to.

  23. TD67

I’m careful who might be damaged believe me.

From the off there was a desire for Res12 not to become a stick to beat the club with, but a lever to improve the set up at the SFA.

Let’s just say some illusions have been disiled and leave it that for now.

  24. Interesting reading this after.

Something I can’t work out, TD was against Res12 from the onset, slagged the bhoys off to beat the band, then when he thought that the club were behind it he was all for it, he even made out he was part of the furnishings, then when he finds out the club really arny behind it, he resorts to his original stance of slagging all n sundry, without the slightest hint of irony.

Thick, ignorant, arse licker are a small selection of the names he is being called, and every one hits the nail on the head.

Oh and to say that Auldheid is threatening, what a joke, but not unexpected from a scumbag.

  25. Tomorrow Celtic Park will host the opening of the Rail Seating Section. Another change in it’s history and another first in the history of the game on this fractious island. But it’s always has been and will be Celtic Park.

    Standing Up For Celtic Park

From the graveyard to paradise. From the moment people started working for the cause to build the dream. You have always stood for celtic and you have always stood for me.You have survived storms, fires and the supports desires. From ambition to cinder tracks, cycle tracks, pavilions, drenchlights hunting wolves, a jungle refurbished, a 70’s stand, new clothes for your birthday and fergus mccanns plans. Thankfully you survived cambuslang. Standing on gravel, crumbling terracing, weeds poking through seeing the game for free, no roofs, leaking roofs, flickering toilet lights, cold plastic seats surrounded by breezeblock grey, a cathedral of noise, passion, love, is the warmth to our paradise, the soul of the celtic way. Your decoration has an eye to the past, your shape has changed, generations have attended, but you have remained the same. You have always stood for Celtic and you have always stood for me.

  26. Holy Feck, what a mess this is. JoBo called it right about an hour ago but was more polite than I can be.

Whilst we self harm, no offence, with bitching at each other like a geriatric Punch & Judy show, people switch off. Or they get on with important things.

Our biggest enemy is our own complacency and the fear of failure. Acros the river, the Orcs carry on doing all the things people on this site insisted they could not do.

They are signing players, Furry Park is still open, Ipox is still open, their history is intact and Magic Hat is still there.

We may see ourselves as judged on European results, don’t complain when that goes tits up ,however we have an elephant in the room. The elephant is red, white and blue and backed to the hilt with a compliant media , referees association and a chip on their shoulder like Mount Etna.

To be honest, I have written off Europe, that’s my call. I see no evidence that we will progress to the CL, I hope we will get the EL just for the hell of it.

The EL will be a positive for exposure but a drain on our team for the domestic campaign. At the moment I think we are good enough to win the SPL but I feel we will almost “have to” do the treble. Like it or not, the media will drive the agenda and BR will be judged as a failure if he doesn’t deliver all three, conversely Warbo a magician if he manages one. Plus ca change..

Gone off on a tangent, but really feel that this blog has become a bitchfest, full of malcontents, empty of humour and a source of desperation. In previous years I have relayed stories from here to my family that have been inspirational and full of the good things Celtic can bring.

On here I heard of the Kano Foundation and took part in the first bucket collection and continue to support a great cause, I am unable to contribute as much as I would like due to personal reasons but I do what I can.

On here , in the past, I have supported many other causes and people. I buggered off last Christmas for a few weeks but was dragged back in. The recent bitchingabout Res 12 has gone too far. What else could these guys do? They have taken the attack when the rest of us sat back, for what

.? Criticism and a lot of shite aimed at their life. Bad enough that Orcs go after them, but people on here join in? GTFAOY.

Rant over : remember who you are and what Celtic means to many people. God bless the Celtic family. Without your family you are nothing.

    Hail! Hail?

  27. Back to the footie.

I think the environment at CP will be as alien to the imps on Wednesday as Gibraltar was to us last Tuesday.

KT or Erik to Captain the team.

  30. JMAc,

Well said. The RES12 guys have done brilliantly and are not finished. There are only one or two lunatics in the support who are having a go at them. Outside CQN there is a lot of indifference to RES12–however they would quickly jump on the bandwagon if the SFA was caught in the headlights. No matter the outcome UEFA / SFA have been spooked.

The Board / Lawwell is a different matter. I have seen this movie before let’s say plus with some local Glasgow insight when I am back in Scotland —I see no change in behaviour. Lawwell has played all and sundry along. I could post quite a bit of factual stuff to back it up ; however it would compromise people I deeply care about.

When I take a step back and look at the overall picture in a cold , passionless manner I think of the following

Team Out Forster, Wanyama, Ledley, Hooper, Virgil, Samaras, IN Richards, Ciftci, Cole, Bangura, etc

Criminalising the support – bans after Fir Park. Info given to help detain young Celtic fans

Poppy on the Hoops. Why ? Whose decision ?

Going for 3 CL failures in a row £90M lost revenue

Downsized the team to a joke level

    Zero hour contracts

    Chairman attacking fans at AGM

Hired a rookie who was out of his depth to manage the club. Kept him in place a year longer than necessary to the point it damaged his health.

Lost to a new club in their first Scottish cup semi final

Stayed quiet on every topic from referees, bigoted singing, RES 12 , OBAF Bill

Changing the manager was a sign of intent—-now it’s back to same old. ST money in — job done.

    How easy was that.

I am not surprised as I have seen several movies like this in different shape or forms.

When CL failure comes to pass and Paul67 writes the blame game article it will be Efe , Brown a ref or a grass pitch.

All of the above is due to one person —–Lawwell.

He is destroying Celtic from within. There is no joy in going to see Celtic anymore.

I have 3 season tickets and will pass on tomorrow and will shoot to Joburg for a few days and will miss Wenesday too.

I rather do other things than prop up the elephant in the room.
