Use Wolfsburg to find desperately needed sharpness

1058

If you’ve been here for a while you’ll have noticed I don’t pay much attention to preseason friendlies but tomorrow’s game against Wolfsburg takes on a more serious tone after Tuesday’s reversal – Celtic desperately need to find sharpness.

Despite the well-placed confidence that we’ll cope comfortably at Celtic Park on Wednesday against Lincoln Red Imps, the serious challenges will come thick and fast thereafter.

Players need to find their edge and the manager needs to learn who goes where and works with whom. It’s just about possible for us to get things together, but whoever we pull out of the hat in today’s provisional third qualifying round draw will be delighted to catch a team in apparent flux.

All this brings us back to Wolfsburg’ a much needed test.

  1. I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution

Take bow to the new revolution

Smile and grin at the change all around

Pick up my guitar and play, just like yesterday

Then I’ll get on my knees and pray

    We don’t get fooled again!

    THERE IS NO BUDGET!

    ONLY BONUS!

I hope you are all looking forward to Sunday football.

Aye, but you’ve got to give Brendan years to make his mark.

    Bollocks!

    Seriously?

Celtic and if I were you I’d stop airing your ill informed opinion as it does those you think you are supporting no favours.

…nobody blew it, it’s still very much a live issue, although the next couple of weeks will be the test of whether it’s successful or not…

I don’t want or expect you to go into the reasons why the next couple of weeks are make or break but what is the feeling amongst the Resolutioners and your legal team that it will be a successful outcome?

One last thing Canamalar & Auldheid.

Can I ask that you somehow try to work with Tony. He has so much to offer. He could do it on a zero hour contract to. You must need bins emptied, tea made, cars cleaned etc. but most importantly I hear he is very good at licking. His normal speciality is arses but I’m sure you could put that to good use licking envelopes.

Timaloy29-thanks for reply. Brafeid turned up at Lennoxtown one morning,Celtic tracksuit on and bag with him. Tony Mowbray and staff (one of whom told me the story)were in his office when he appeared They thought it was someone who had won a competition,or a sponsor’s event was happening. TM had never even heard of Edson Brafeid,he was a Lawwell/Park production. I heard from someone close to Neil Lennon, the same thing happened with Rami Gershon, seems it was a favour to PL’s favourite agent Dudu Duhan,to get him fit and put him in shop window. Johann Mjallby said on BT Sport on Tuesday,Ambrose ‘ always has a mistake in him’, which I found strange considering he was part of the management team who you would presume, scouted him and recommended his signing……..or did they? Bada,

    Thanks for the info.

I’ve not heard much about the Braafheid deal so that’s interesting.

As for the Gershon deal, he mostly just trained with us and played in one game that was practically a development team game (he played well actually)

I could imagine that the Gershon deal could have been an exception.

  12. glendalystonsils on

Whether Gershon or Braafhied turned out to be diddies or world beaters, it’s still an absolute farce and disgrace to treat player recruitment like some kind of masonic back scratching arrangement.

  13. Getting rid of a few Directors will achieve nothing. The reality is that Desmond calls the shots. Even though he doesn’t own 51% of the Shares the machinations of a PLC are such that he effectively “owns” the Club in as much as he can do what he wants. This situation is not peculiar to Celtic, many sets of fans are in the same boat and can do little about it.

As fans we can organise & lobby and take on causes like the Res12 Bhoys (God Bless them) but beyond that the only other option is the nuclear one of attempting to organise a Boycott to force change. The reality is we are living in our own CQN bubble and their is no appetite for that type of action from the general support. (Mind you a couple of more results like the Imp one and that might change)

Supporters generally just want to see their team performing well & winning trophies. We are going for 6 in a row & most of the support are quite happy with that situation.

  16. My goodness, it’s been a really JOYful couple of hours on the Blog over the last 2 or 3 pages. A scroll back I could have done without. Things can only get better ;-)

Looking forward to getting back to The Park tomorrow, not least of all as I’ll be in my new vanatge point in the Rail Seating Section. Word on the streets is that they also have some decent catering and almost clean toilets round there too, which would be a bit of a difference from the ole FS2 that’s been my home for a few years.

As to the game, I really would like Brendan to (a) play his intended next Wednesday team for the first 65 – 70 minutes and (b) if wholesale changes are planned, do them all at once!

    Thoughts?

  17. Thought for the day: Play Scott Allan in a ‘number 10’ role for half a dozen games and see what we’ve got. Right behind Moussa and Sparky.

  18. Auldheid this from your fear less leader, you sure your all on the same page?

It just goes to show his ignorance does not stop at zero hour contracts it appears to be all encompassing.

Res12 was never about forcing the SFA to do anything you ignorant buffoon, it was about getting the board of Celtic Plc to protect the interests of all the Celtic shareholders and not just those who sit on the board, that’s why it could not simply be voted down. How can someone get to that age and retain so much stupidity, you’d expect some wisdom to sink in over the years surely,

    Lennybhoy..,

The response from UEFA is so full of inconsistencies, mistakes or omissions about the rules and its main argument about something we never asked them to address, that we are struggling to believe anyone at UEFA actually wrote it. For the first week after receiving the reply we were a bit down with the declarations made however as we analysed it and referred to the actual rules being referred to, it became more and more obvious that there are very serious issues with the content.

What is not a surprise, is that the Plc seem happy with the response and have made no comment or shown no sign that they have any issues with the content.

We are addressing some very serious errors that have been made in the letter and I think we are all a bit shocked that UEFA could produce such an erroneous document and expect us not to follow it up. The problem is it came from the desk of a very senior member of UEFA and we are carefully setting about responding and making it if not impossible then very difficult for the recipients of our response, to ignore both the issues we have raised and the apparent lack of familiarity or disregard of the rules by people who are paid handsomely to ensure the rules are applied.

I think we are confident that anyone reading our response will have a hard job refuting our arguments and that the only way for it to be ignored is if they don’t open the letter. I don’t believe they can read it and dismiss it as just some internet bampots trying to stir up trouble, then do nothing about it. And if they do we will publish the lot and let you guys make up your minds.

How do you define blew it?

    How could we blow it?

Celtic were presented with evidence that Res 12 should be carried after they said it wasn’t necessary.

That is why they adjourned because the evidence was persuasive. That of itself was a victory for small shareholders. A first in AGM history.

Then we got the SFA to reply and make a public statement whereby the door to UEFA was opened. That was a victory in the accountability stakes (the underlying motive of Res12)

Then we got UEFA to respond opening the door that Res12 was trying to get open. That was a victory.

The new club stuff was an unsought bonus but as I’ve posted to you a number of times is not the aim of Res12.

The facts are that after some investigation after the AGM it was pretty conclusive that the correct process had not been followed and in August 2014 Celtic should have passed Res12. They didn’t and left it to shareholders.

If anyone blew Res12 sunshine it was Celtic and if I were you I’d stop airing your ill informed opinion as it does those you think you are supporting no favours.

Listen, you blew it, the lot of you, IMO, you have victories all over the place according to you (I beg to differ) as I said this morning you made an arse of it, and predictably turned the guns on the CFC board as the four of you have done all through this campaign , you posted just around the new year that you and the club where on the same page, now your saying you where not? Strange indeed, that’s my take on it, you say I’m ill informed, good! You go with that, I’ll post what ever I want on here within the code and behaviour of the blog, as you can also, I don’t get it that my opinion being different from the res12 guys makes me your enemy, but there you go if that’s your style fine buy me, woe betide anyone who doesent agree with the Gang of Four then eh? That how it works? And your a negotiator ? Sais it all REALY.

    =======

I am confident that when it all comes out it will be clear who blew it and it’s not us.

As I said you are ill informed so it’s no surprise you reach an ill informed and therefore wrong conclusion.

I have no problem with that but it is when you try to peddle it as fact I do and so I try to correct you but I might as well try and teach a donkey to bray the alphabet.

Absolutely spot on. The problem is, we don’t know what we’ve got because we don’t play players in their most effective positions/combinations

    We might be pleasantly surprised.

We all had different reasons for raising Res12.

Mine goes way back to an Open Meeting in St Mary’s in 2010/11. There may still be some CQN guys who attended who can confirm

Paul can but is on a deserved holiday.

A resolution passed at that meeting was passed on by Celtic to the SFA because it suited them. It resulted directly or indirectly on a change to the video review system Gordon Smith also resigned shortly thereafter but I’m not sure there was a connection although he was suspected of interference.

When I say what Res12 is about I speak for self. That is not to say we do not share same motives, only different priorities in it.

I differ from the Gang of Four, makes me an easy target, and until the Gang of Four prove me wrong, my opinion on who blew it stands, unless you have facts? Oh I forgot, your fear less leader says watch this space, I have been for nearly four years, and you lot come out with RIFC are not Rangers? You’d have a better chance of teaching that donkey the alphabet than proving to me you had a victory. https://youtu.be/WRK03q76GKU

    Tony..,

Ya dumb shmuck, there’s nothing in my statement that is inconsistent with what Auldheid said, I mean good grief how dumb are you, Res12 is about getting the SFA investigated not about asking or forcing them to do anything, any changes at the SFA will come as a result of them being investigated and found to have been breaking UEFA’s rules on how they applied their responsibilities as delegated licensors, I can’t say I’m surprised that you could not grasp such a simple meaning, your stupidity is unsurpassed. The dugs on the street are laughing at you, dumb shmuck.

  25. Tony’s opinion stands everyone.

I have no doubt in my mind Gordon Smith was baw deep In it, but to many of you guys got a h… On for the CFC board, you kept taking your eye off the ball, IMO.cfc board where and are still not the enemy, that’s my point, it’s all foggy misty and contradictions, getting messy by the day IMO.

  28. From my far, far away vantage point Celtic’s collusion has been plainly obvious. I have simply seen no logical reason whatsoever for the club to not cry foul. Unless of course they had/have been dishonest themselves? Celtic must have known about the infamous 5 way agreement yet have done nothing. They would have known in 2011 that a licence given to RFC1872 was obtained by deception but again not a word. LNS was a clear stitch up, yet all we get is a basic statement issuing the club’s surprise.

Despite all of the above and more being ignored & while confirming my belief of Celtic’s collusion. I for some reason have allowed myself a slither of hope that this may not be true. Resolution 12 was my last hope for the club I love but it seems from reading today’s blog that their reluctance (to be kind) to get involved has now confirmed my worst fears.

Painful words I thought I’d never utter but Celtic are an absolute disgrace & they’ve sold us all out.

While it makes me feel sick I’ve had a long while to deal with this disappointment as I’ve long suspected Celtic. It’s the four guys who have been on the front line in all of this I mostly feel for. Attacking these guys for at least trying seems senseless to me but I guess for some, someone other than the club has to get it in the neck.

I also read something about knowing how this will all pan out over the next few weeks. I look forward to being updated but in the meantime despite the Gibraltar embarrassment. There’s no worries for the Club as they’ve sold us & the stadium out.
