Use Wolfsburg to find desperately needed sharpness

1058

If you’ve been here for a while you’ll have noticed I don’t pay much attention to preseason friendlies but tomorrow’s game against Wolfsburg takes on a more serious tone after Tuesday’s reversal – Celtic desperately need to find sharpness.

Despite the well-placed confidence that we’ll cope comfortably at Celtic Park on Wednesday against Lincoln Red Imps, the serious challenges will come thick and fast thereafter.

Players need to find their edge and the manager needs to learn who goes where and works with whom. It’s just about possible for us to get things together, but whoever we pull out of the hat in today’s provisional third qualifying round draw will be delighted to catch a team in apparent flux.

All this brings us back to Wolfsburg’ a much needed test.

Surely it is recorded by man that God created man in his image?

That pretty much says it all to me.

I did not only point to the evil that occurrs, i also pointed towards the recorded words of his own men who wrote those words about him\her being spiteful and vengful prior to giving up his son in death for our souls.

I also pointed to interpretation of the recorded words that apparently accumulate into that of the Bible, the Koran, the Torah etc. etc. etc.

But if we faithfully believe in God does that not therefor point to the existance of the Devil prior to God if we were created in God’s image and many of us have evil in us walking this earth at this, in the past and in the future?

    Kill joy,

No one was peeing in any direction, we knew we were being played but we needed to be invited to take full control and given free reign, that could only be done by the Plc abdicating responsibility and it took them until they thought the time bar was up, for whatever reason they don’t seem to think we can read the rules it’s a bit silly really but that arrogance will come back to bite them on the arse, the same with the SFA and the CL&FFP. Too many seem to think we have been played and don’t give credit for the game we have played. We a bunch of Internet bampots now have direct access to UEFA and they have opened up correspondence and provided highly questionable interpretations of the rules. Which of course means we need further clarification from them, and this is where it will get hot, so just stop and think about that for a minute, had the Plc or the SFA taken this on we would have been excluded from the discussion and whatever went on we would have had no recourse to question the outcome.

So before you go bad mouthing people because you have a personal grudge remember you were given short shrift for trying to sow the seeds of division away back then and nothing has changed on that score. You contributed nothing then and that remains the same, your outright mistrust is your own problem if you can deal with that then Res12 might have helped you too.

MON did not like Lawwell’s interference in team matters. Although MoNs era was probably the most exciting of recent eras, I have some sympathy with Lawwell in this particular clashing of egos.

MoN was a chequebook manager and Lawwell had to balance the books so I understand PL’s position in that context.

Lenny left because Lawwell had too much influence on playing side and to quote Lenny ‘ the Board were unable to match my ambitions for Celtic’

My sympathies absolutely lie with Lenny as he was dealing with a now fully formed control freak.

Strachan was probably the ideal manager for Lawwell as they both had a similar stake. Strachan happily downsized while still achieving. Strachan needed Celtic more than Celtic needed him. It’s worked out great for him- his previous managerial mediocrity erased and now ensconced in the Scotland job producing his hallmark tedious style of play.

Ronnie – a shambles . This I hope marks the absolute height of Lawwell’s power. If nothing else Lawwell himself must have seen his delusion manifest in shite football and dangerously low crowds.

So now we have BR- a silver bullet to low crowds, a Manager with experience and crucially the ear and support of Desmondo. I sincerely hope this appointment begins the end of PL interference in football matters… However his legacy of past mistakes will take time and luck to work out of the team as evidence by the shock of Gibraltar … Although it wasn’t really a shock to most Celtic fans.

Who promised Res12 would get to UEFA? Did that peron or persons promise they would be involved in getting Res12 to UEFA? Did they ultimately facilatate that promise?

Saying Res12 did get to UEAF following the previous statement above alludes to Celtic helping and facilitating this. Was that the case?

MON was in his fourth season when PL was appointed – not as CEO, but as Executive Director (along with Eric Riley) under Brian Quinn. He was appointed CEO only after MON had left, and up until that point, served under the direction of Brian Quinn.

It was the Board which dictated policy at Celtic during MON’s tenure. If MON didn’t like the policy, it was the board’s, not PL’s, that he had issue with.

Well, I hadn’t heard they had a poor relationship at the time.

Martin O’Neill was practically working part-time at Celtic when Lawwell was there, understandably, because of the health of his wife.

Martin was very much calling the shots and handed new contracts to the like of Thompson and Balde.

I had heard that O’Neill had pissed off Lawwell and Desmond when he signed a pre-contract with Celtic’s player of the year Shaun Maloney. Furthermore he was supposed to have met up with Artur Boruc without Celtic’s permission.

Aye but those were nothing to do with the league which was the point you made about “toiling to win it”. That does not matter whether you change “it seems” to “it feels”. No objective evidence backs up that feeling about league winning- it is an irrational fear or phobia.

Paddy Roberts is awkward in that slot and James Forrest can never do good in the eyes of our support even when he is doing good.

How do you define blew it?

    How could we blow it?

Celtic were presented with evidence that Res 12 should be carried after they said it wasn’t necessary.

That is why they adjourned because the evidence was persuasive. That of itself was a victory for small shareholders. A first in AGM history.

Then we got the SFA to reply and make a public statement whereby the door to UEFA was opened. That was a victory in the accountability stakes (the underlying motive of Res12)

Then we got UEFA to respond opening the door that Res12 was trying to get open. That was a victory.

The new club stuff was an unsought bonus but as I’ve posted to you a number of times is not the aim of Res12.

The facts are that after some investigation after the AGM it was pretty conclusive that the correct process had not been followed and in August 2014 Celtic should have passed Res12. They didn’t and left it to shareholders.

If anyone blew Res12 sunshine it was Celtic and if I were you I’d stop airing your ill informed opinion as it does those you think you are supporting no favours.

Strange indeed, that’s my take on it, you say I’m ill informed, good! You go with that, I’ll post what ever I want on here within the code and behaviour of the blog, as you can also, I don’t get it that my opinion being different from the res12 guys makes me your enemy, but there you go if that’s your style fine buy me, woe betide anyone who doesent agree with the Gang of Four then eh? That how it works? And your a negotiator ? Sais it all REALY.

  16. Just one point re whether Jesus existed or not Cornelius Tacitus, was probably the best Roman Historian of all time lived 55Ad 118Ad.

He lived in a period where Nero in particular was persecuting and murdering Christians & Tacitus himself hated Christians. In his writings he refers to their founder as Christ who was executed in the reign of Tiberius by the procurator Pilate.

His writings probably about 50 years after the Crucifixion are accepted as totally credible by the vast vast majority of Historians.

Another very prominent scholar of that time named Joesphus who was a Jew but lived in Rome under the patronage of Roman Emperor also refers to Jesus in his writings.

Historians also use common sense in assessing the likelihood of truth, if 50 years or so after Jesus was reputed to have lived thousands of his followers were prepared to endure torture & death rather than renounce him, something fairly spectacular or profound must have taken place to inspire such faith.

There are many many more ways & means of establishing likelihood of events but it is fair to say that even Historians who are atheists for the overwhelming part believe that Jesus existed.

It’s not clear what help or in what form it was provided or more accurately we cannot prove either way.

UEFA did respond though so my feeling and it is no more than that is that Celtic were in touch with UEFA.

As background remember that STV in particular were keen to portray Celtic as having complained about a fellow club. So much so STV Grant chased the Comp Sec along the street after the SFA AGM asking him if Celtic had been in touch with UEFA then publicised Res12 was done

Celtic did NOT want this to be portrayed as a club rather than governance issue long before now so in that respect were being consistent in trying to prevent that.

The environment we have to work in makes what would be straightforward elsewhere much more convoluted than it should be.

Auldheid is a diplomat and getting him to be blunt about the Plc is not going to be straightforward until it’s all over.

To put it very bluntly, they were more a hinderance than help, they prevaricated at every turn, at one point very early on, after telling us the whole thing had to go through the SFA they told us they’d write to the SFA, after six months of not writing to the SFA they told us to write to the SFA. That was the just one example of such prevarication, we were in it for the long haul and that is how we played it, all the prevarication was being recorded and monitored until the time bar needed something said to make sure they were refocused on the task in hand, with season ticket time coming up it made them jump and that is when all responsibility was handed to us and the Plc took no further part, except to say that, they wanted us to remove the wording that they supported our call for an investigation from the letter to UEFA. Thick as shit was right on the money when he told everyone we were being played, where he and the Plc and SFA arrogance has failed Is that they underestimated us as they have all along, now they don’t know how to deal with us and we hold all the cards, now is that how boys in long trousers operate strategically ? I don’t think so, imagine leaving all the power in the hands of those you have tried to impede. The boys in long trousers are left with them around their ankles. Who wears short shorts :)

    Oh and kill Joy,

Of course I’m in danger of contradicting, you think the Plc are the only ones capable of playing games, we done what needed to be done to bring Res12 to a conclusion, if that required us to play along with the Plc that is what we done, that was made clear many times throughout the campaign. Big Nan and many more also had problems with that because we were required by the Plc to keep secrets, do you honestly think that was easy for us to do considering that one of the main reasons behind res12 was transparency ? today we are in direct discourse with UEFA do you honestly think we could have done that without playing their game ? Grow up man ffs, by hook or by crook Res12’s business will be done it was obvious a long time ago the Plc had no interest in taking it on, and no one was going to stand in its way even if we had to make horrible choices. We are where we are because we made those choices and no other reason. Squealing that the Plc were not helping or even hindering us would have simply had them refusing to deal with us and that would have been the end of it. Me personally I think we’ve played a blinder and even thick as shit is making his usual dumb shmuck claims because he is too stupid to see what staring him right in the face, we are in control and in correspondence with UEFA not the Plc or the SFA but UEFA the very people they refused to take it up with. They have no control in what will happen or how we will deal with it and we got here playing them at their own game. What was it Auldheid, infinite patience brings immediate results :) three years on and the results begin to become immediate :)
