Vacancy for a coach to challenge O’Neill orthodoxy

914

If/when minds at Celtic get around to considering a replacement for Alan Thompson it would also be wise to recognise the international nature of the game.  Lennon, Mjallby, Parker and Thompson were all football sons of Martin O’Neill, rooted in the domestic tradition of the game (even the Swede).

Football philosophy drifts slowly between national boundaries carried by successful coaches and players.  Right now the ambitious teams in the world are trying to ape the Barcelona/Spain model, the success of which is hard to argue with, but whether we look for a Spanish influence or not, we must surely look for a voice to challenge what the current management team regard as orthodoxy, in all aspects of the job.

WGS – nobody can deny his record – still not my cup of tea. Wasn’t mad about him before he came to Celtic – I considered his style of play to be boring.

wasn’t sorry to see him leave – still not mad about him.

    Good record at Celtic though…

For those in daylight, the Transit of Venus has just started. For us in the darkness of Scotland we will catch it at 5.37 tomorrow. Check out all the websites to follow it. We will not see its like again…..unless we are still around in 2117!

I am at a loss to understand how my failure to appreciate the merits of TV drama series turns me into a Philistine.

You have provided a list of works which would stir most people’s souls.

Certainly most of them move me.

How these things can be compared to the crass commerciality & audience driven junk that now masquerades as literature & drama, I am at a loss to understand.

However, they seem to entertain most people, so the flaw is obviously in me.

Thankfully for the providers of such offerings, I am in a small minority.

The huddle-Chris Sutton went on to play in the EPL for Villa, where he sustained the eye injury (Bloke 109),do you want a team of kids? Every team needs experience ,these guys had it in spades, with no little class too.I’ve read (grudging) respect on these pages for the role David Weir played at the huns,IMO Chris Sutton could have done that for us.Mowbray’s first (of many) mistakes was letting Hartley go,when we were trying to bed in new players like Ki,then selling Robson in the January.HH.

Kingoh – who started the myth that the majority of Hoops fans didn’t take to WGS because he wasn’t “Celtic Minded”? It certainly wasn’t the fans who didn’t enjoy the quality of football at times.

The old media still peddle that guff on radio shows even now. It’s yet another pathetic attempt at trying to show one’s as bad as the other when it comes to our support and TFOD.

By the way, what did you think of the football on display during MON’s final season?

  11. Why do people on here keep saying that anyone who puts point they disagree with must be a msm reader bol****s!!

I didnt take to wgs i appreciated his 3 titles and 2 cl runs always will

But his football was poor he treated us the fans with complete contempt and could not handle any big personalities within the dressing room

One example we played ict and in 94 mins we did not have 1 shot on goal yet he comes out and tells us fans we were excellent and that anyone who disagrees dont know what we were talking about

Yea he doesnt bad mouth us but it doesnt alter my opinion doesnt mean i got it from msm

Look at Neil when we lost the league last season last game against Motherwell we danced as if we had won 10 in a row.

Someone asked me if I had Judged him on one game probally with his TV response that night Yes

He was at the peak in my view in getting the Celtic job and being part of that is dealing with the MSM he was poor at it,can anyone say that a part of the reason King Kenny got sacked was the way he dealt with the media, big clubs bring big resposeabilty.

kikinthenakas-I was surprised how sharp he was for Blackburn last season, always looked a bit heavy,I think a la BBJ he has to play regularly to keep fit.

I asked you if you judge Strachan on one game, anyone getting the job as Celtic Manager is reaching the peak!

I was at the Motherwell game last year, it was special because Lenny is special, that should not mean Strachan is not.

He was a genius at dealing with the MSM, they deserve contempt, that is what they got.

  21. Yakubu actauly looked very good last season, destroyed Man U at OT. I’d take the fatty at CP, only after he’s finished top goal getter at the Euros.
