Watching players on the edge

1018

I like watching a professional perform on the edge. We watched Anthony Stokes do just that at the Cup Final, where despite two superb goals from Gary Hooper, he was clearly head and shoulders above everyone else on the field. This has not always been the way for Anthony, so has too often failed to command a starting place, and live up to the form he promised all those years ago at Falkirk.

Celtic have put a contract in front of him but it will be considerably lighter than the contract Hooper has no intentions of signing. It’s very much up to Anthony now. Deliver and the riches will follow. Don’t bet against him.

Only just catching up on the somewhat demeaning promotion of a football club hiring a new team bus. Every time I see the coach/manager at that club, buses, or to be more precise, Blakey, from On the Buses comes to mind. These people lend themselves to parody so unselfishly.

Coach/Manager

Inspector Blakey

The fascinating part is, only one of the two above was trying to be ridiculous. You enjoy another day of being a Celtic fan.

Members of the public can hire the sevco bus on the days that sevco are not having to play any football matches.

I’ve just hired it for the day of the third round of the Scottish cup.

Paddy should come and play for TFC with his pal D O’Dea.

Just what they need right now and plenty of Celts to support him here.

Andy 2 sets and 2 games up in the 3rd set, hope that is his dodgy performance out the road.

  6. In the lead photo,of the 4 Musketarses,it looks like the guy on the left, has just dropped the cold spoon required to hold down Sally”s tongue,to stop him going into a fit.

  7. Read the article about Sevco’s finance in the herald. Yes, I know, MSM and all that. BUT if they are taking in1.1m a month with an outlay of 1.5m, it should not take a great deal to trim that down and break even. Most likely the inflated playing squad will be reduced.

The article states Sevco have 28,000 season ticket renewals and hope to reach 38,000. If they reach that, even I will have to admit that it’s some going. Then again it could all be BS and admin by Christmas…

Sevco claiming the new bus is ‘the best in Scotland’ – they will be totally unbearable when the new lawnmower arrives.

I read this from a Guardian discussion earlier today on that very topic:

“…but QE comes with horrible side effects, the worst one being that it effectively acts as if it were a regressive fiscal policy rather than a monetary policy. By that I mean that it shifts wealth from the poor to the rich. QE is supposed to work in many ways – providing cover for the banks to slowly fix their balance sheets and keeping the supply of money constant even as the big banks contract lending (which cuts the money supply). However one of its main consequences is to keep asset prices high as all the new money leaks into prime property prices, stocks, bonds, farmland, art and the like.

And who owns these assets? It isn’t the poor. No, for them the effect of QE comes more in the form of non-existent interest rates on their savings, the steady erosion of the real value of their fixed wages to say nothing of the rise in the gap between the housing accommodation they can afford and the accommodation they want. It is, in the end, as the Bank acknowledged last year, a clear wealth transfer to the already rich. ”

Won’t bother mcguiness much tho. He will use anyone and anything for a photo opportunity, ask Oul Mrs Windsor.

  14. So The Rangers are still losing 100k per week. Easy to cut that down with a few players out the door. Except I don’t think they’ve even got any 10k week players now. Ian Black is on 8.6k apparently. You’re looking at trimming at least 10 players from the squad plus a lot of back office staff to meet that level of cuts. I doubt they’d get out of the division if they did that.

A bit off topic….moving house this month so clearing out the basement on this Canada day holiday.

I found my Celtic PLC ordinary share certificate from Jan 1995. It has 5 $1 shares…..always thought that I bought the minimum 10?. Was it 5 ordinary and 5 preference? I know it cost me $650. Can anyone shed light on what the 1995 offer was? I will keep searching for more clues…

  20. It must be karma!

Home from The Land of Smiles for summer stay to see my grown up family,4 day in London with the youngest son then flight to Inverness should see me bussing north on sunday evening,

My pal Harry text me and I have seen it on here, that Sevco will just have played the elder most northern Rangers of our Isles. Will miss my chance to assess them on their second leg to glory!! Wont be much chance of a quiet pint of Guinness as a Rangers will win or both draw.

Make up for it with a visit to Glasgow Parkhead to see second son and hopefully a match and see the new Bhoys.

Hope the weather’s good, cold most of the time last year. Remember one bar he took me into, lousy pint of Guinness, looked around and everyone else was drinking that horrible yellow stuff. It was definately a Celtic Pub??
