We don’t need no stinkin’ courtesies

1494

Scottish football has afforded defending champions the courtesy of a home game on the first day of the season to allow the league championship flag to be unfurled at the start of the new campaign for as many decades as I remember.

As this has, in effect, become a courtesy to give Celtic a home start to the campaign in as many years as my sons can remember, we’ll be at Tynecastle on the opening day of the season. Flag Day will have to wait.

That said, I like the idea of taking on Hearts away, then our nearest challengers, Aberdeen, at home. Come through this successfully and we will be in excellent shape for the campaign.

The Aberdeen game comes immediately after the final round of European qualifiers, so we have an opportunity to finish August in a real high – if we get the preparatory work done early enough.

Bring it on.  We don’t need no stinkin’ courtesies.

Totally agree, by the way I was a Ronny fan, but he wore me down in the end with his attitude of one up front even in the SPL, in my opinion he gave the other teams hope, I think Brendan will motivate this team, it’s a pretty poor state of affairs but the players will respect him more and they will be all be trying their hearts out to impress, sadly that’s the way the world works (especially flipping footballers) I don’t care just as long as we get to the CL as that will reward every single punter that’s has purchased their season ticket

I thought Škoda was injured as I’m sure I saw him indicating to the bench

“So, there is clear proof of the same club narrative being a construct, safe in the knowledge that the SMSM and authorities would get behind it in their own self-interest.

And that other clubs wouldn’t protest for similar reasons.

Doesn’t make it true though, I say objectively.”

Apart from the use of the term “objectively”, I am with you at an opinion level. For it to become scientifically “objective”, it needs to be capable of being disproven. There needs to be an instance of a football club that has pretended to be the same entity, following a liquidation event, and was , subsequently slapped down by football authorities and told to behave itself and start as a new club. To your knowledge, has such a club ever existed? I am, certainly unaware of one such case. I hope Sevco can claim a first here.

Well, I’ll share that hope with you, and look into any precedent.

However, I reckon many better than me have tried, so not entirely optimistic.

“but it’s easy to post on CQN saying I want this and I want that, the flies are back and to give Celtic FC grief is madness, personally I think the board are saying heehaw because then it becomes a Celtic issue and not a shareholder issue and a major point that Dallas pointed out, maybe UEFA will not be best pleased if a UEFA member questions them on this issue,”

It really isn’t that easy. And I really haven’t hammered the point relentlessly over the past few weeks. Nor have I demanded Celtic do this or that.

I have merely stated my own position. I have never bought into the narrative that the club could not challenge UEFA. Even if that was true, it would have been dead easy for Celtic to just say “We’d like to say more about the events but we are hamstrung as a UEFA member club from challenging any of the judgements that have been made about Scottish football organisation arising from the liquidation of Rangers.”

They have, to be fair to the Celtic Board, never mounted that defence. It has been invented by us, the fans, to explain their silence. They have never revealed their hand or their mindset, apart from the Rory Bremner comment which can easily be withdrawn as just a jest against a rival club, nothing to take seriously.

It isn’t easy. It would be far easier to just give in and buy the SB. To just lie back and forget about it and just enjoy the football, rigged game or not. I have never asked or instructed any other Celt to follow my position and I am not about to start now.

I hope, against hope, that I will be proven wrong and regret my obstinacy. But it is what it is for now.

I’ll let it lie and not spoil a feelgood Friday night with the tunes

  7. “A football club, once incorporated, is indistinguishable from its corporate identity. If the club was separate, it would need its own constitution, committee members, trustees etc. Rangers Football Club does not have that because it is incorporated”

  10. If you ever needed further proof that we are only seen as a cash cow just like look at the comments from Partick this evening and they have the support of Hamilton and Motherwell.

Motherwell charge one of the highest adult ticket prices but do do a decent parent and child price if you go in the main stand.

Hamilton is just a soulless lego brick.

Trying to get them to reduce ticket prices is like turkeys voting for Xmas. Celtic have to lead the way.

    Ain`t that the truth.

Along with a plethora of other notions , inventions , assumptions and any other word or phrase which means :

” Ah really huvnae a clue whether this is true or not , but I hate the Board so ,ahm gonnae say it anyway.”

All, of course , expressed as fact.

Which ,of course , is counter productive in terms of a united front in the face of the widespread hunnism we have to face from the peepil.

And we end up with a de-nosed and spite face.

    Question of the day :

Does P.L. actually have a heated driveway ?

Or is this just another C.Q.N. urban myth ?
