We don’t need no stinkin’ courtesies

1494

Scottish football has afforded defending champions the courtesy of a home game on the first day of the season to allow the league championship flag to be unfurled at the start of the new campaign for as many decades as I remember.

As this has, in effect, become a courtesy to give Celtic a home start to the campaign in as many years as my sons can remember, we’ll be at Tynecastle on the opening day of the season. Flag Day will have to wait.

That said, I like the idea of taking on Hearts away, then our nearest challengers, Aberdeen, at home. Come through this successfully and we will be in excellent shape for the campaign.

The Aberdeen game comes immediately after the final round of European qualifiers, so we have an opportunity to finish August in a real high – if we get the preparatory work done early enough.

Bring it on.  We don’t need no stinkin’ courtesies.

It is, but he’s a 24/7 Hun so it is more than one loyalist. Stirs up the shit and has about 29 twitter accounts retweeting constantly to his pals. Also seems to be in on club 1872z I’ve Benn paying very close attention this last few weeks. He smand his monckers stir and others issue the threats. Most keyboard hardmen but 3 or 4 are literally solid personal threats against individuals from ulster. He’s a bigoted sectarian basrards in Sherpa clothing.

Without thi @1_pzj there would be no online campaign against anyone of a Celtic persuasion. He is the Billy boy.

Spain 3 up v Turkey and it’s like watching Barcelona – well it is basically – it’s their style of play and their key players

    Re the fixtures:

I’m disgusted that we have a game against a four year old club on Dec 31. Presumably, SKY will show a fourth tier match that day to keep us all entertained.

    Well said.

I think the Celtic boards’ silence has now displaced the governance issue as the real story here.

A team from Govan were in the league for weeks and weeks and not many season tickets were moving, there were still a lot that renewed (Dallas & son) that avoided the rush, but if anybody in their right mind thinks season tickets are going for that reason are just ignoring the facts, Celtic season tickets were massively down until Brendan Rogers not any other reason it was our board showing a bit of imagination (or even saying Ronny didn’t work out)

Didn’t think so roll on the new season, By the way I think a wee masterstroke from the board, CL qualifier on the season book, we need to make the group stages

WITS….. If that Brendan guy doesn’t make the group stages I hope you have a Brendan out campaign and there is none of this inverted snobbery just because he is an Irish manager and not Norwegian !

The only time I got a proper lift from the bookies was in the Euro’s , must have been 2008. I got in early on Spain and Villa top scorer double , that £20 paid for a week in Tenerife at Xmas that year. Quite happy now to lift 8/1 shots at a fiver , it pays towards a decent lunch.

    How things have changed.

Used to travel on the same supporters bus as Kevin McCarra 30 odd years ago. He is one of the best. Pray he is safe.

  12. Please see the news item about journalist Kevin McCarra (my brother-in-law) and, if you’re in southern France, even in Avignon, tonight or know anyone who’s there, keep all eyes peeled for Kevin. I’m in constant touch with Susan his wife, my sister. My other sister and my brother are getting over there as quickly as they can. Thanks to Pau67 for letting us use CQN for this. D.

As a young bhoy I would rather gamble than go out for a pint, things have changed am not allowed to do either, all kidding aside I had a life changing coupon up (for a tenner) since that day 2010, I gamble less but keep chasing the dragon, my better half has no problems with my gambling as she knows I only gamble what she lets me :-)

By the way nothing better than a fiver on a 8/1 shot

It is not a subjective belief.

It is a matter of law.

Several law lords have said in various courts that there is no separation between club and company. They have referred variously to the former Rangers FC. Lord Brodie ridiculed the idea of a club somehow floating in the ether either above or below the company.

They outrank any so-called football authorities’ declarations on this.

I completely agree with your decision on holding off on renewing, by the way.

  20. Gerryfaethebrig @ 9:14 pm

“A team from Govan were in the league for weeks and weeks and not many season tickets were moving, there were still a lot that renewed (Dallas & son) that avoided the rush, but if anybody in their right mind thinks season tickets are going for that reason are just ignoring the facts, Celtic season tickets were massively down until Brendan Rogers not any other reason it was our board showing a bit of imagination (or even saying Ronny didn’t work out)”

Absolutely, I have posted before that the big surge came when Brendan was announced.

However all else is as I said. We don’t have any news of big signings. We don’t have any announcements on a change of tack. It is all supposition and belief.

I want to believe it too but…..

    Brendan could fail here

Signing policy could be much as it was before with just a wee upgrade

PL could still be a significant player

John Park could still be chief scout

And the silence from CP could be just as resounding.

So Spain outclass and outplay Turkey 3-0 and once again it was pleasure to watch Andres Iniesta without a doubt, the world’s best midfield player.

Proud to say I saw him in the flesh in Barcelona and at CP, where when he was subbed, the whole ground rose to applaud him from the park. And as he’s just turned 32, he has a few years left yet.

One of football’s gentlemen and a true world super star (also helps when you’ve scored the winning goal in the World Cup Final).

And these remain as legal opinions and not legal judgements. These were judicial asides in a case where the point to be proven was other than this. None of what Lord Brodie opined has any weight as far as the SFA, UEFA and FIFA are concerned. Only when they issue formal judgements rather than asides will it count.

“They outrank any so-called football authorities’ declarations on this.”

They do if they issue judgements but they have not done so. Therefore the SFA can continue, with impunity, to stick their fingers in their ears and say “Same club, same club, same club”

  24. “I’ve not stopped smiling,” he said. “I didn’t think Rangers would be interested in a 37-year-old defender.

Neither did we Clint, neither did we.

  25. Motherwell and Partick Thistles reaction to today’s fixture list sadly shows what Scottish football is all about, the Old Firm.

Every SPL club in my opinion just want to get back to as it was pre 2012 back on the Old Firn gravy train , Celtic included.

If it wasn’t for the fans in 2012 they would never have left the SPL , most clubs think going to Div 3 was punishment enough in my opinion again I include Celtic in this .

The Res 12 guys should be applauded by every fair minded supporter in Scotland they’ve tried to tackle the blatant corruption when clubs have been silent, again sadly I include Celtic in this.

  26. SFTB

Not often I disagree with you but if you are saying that this :

“All I know, so far, for sure, is that a team playing out of Ibrox is “back” in the league and CP is close to a sell out”

is the main reason for the increase in ticket sales then I do this time ( disagree).

The upsurge in sales occurred coincided with the procurement of Brendan Rodgers .
