We don’t need no stinkin’ courtesies

1494

Scottish football has afforded defending champions the courtesy of a home game on the first day of the season to allow the league championship flag to be unfurled at the start of the new campaign for as many decades as I remember.

As this has, in effect, become a courtesy to give Celtic a home start to the campaign in as many years as my sons can remember, we’ll be at Tynecastle on the opening day of the season. Flag Day will have to wait.

That said, I like the idea of taking on Hearts away, then our nearest challengers, Aberdeen, at home. Come through this successfully and we will be in excellent shape for the campaign.

The Aberdeen game comes immediately after the final round of European qualifiers, so we have an opportunity to finish August in a real high – if we get the preparatory work done early enough.

Bring it on.  We don’t need no stinkin’ courtesies.

  1. Thats my politics finished.Back to the love of my life.

Seen a wee report this morning that BR had Odegard at Liverpool for a look and was keen to sign him.Reports saying that Madrid want to loan him out this season, and could BR be interested.Would be rather entertaining with Paddy on the right and Martin on the left, with LG in the middle.Bums aff seats time.

” Hold your nose and vote”. Very sound advice; although it is a shame it is the way it has to be. My job means I spend a fair amount of time down in England and my lhad now works , as you know, in central London, so the depth of feeling on immigration is not news to me. To be honest it is the only card the leave guys have to play, so that is why it is right to play it. Doesn’t make me feel good, but politics is a dirty business. Anyway, off to see my old Dad….an unstinting voice of reason.

  3. I now take it the Warbs story was untrue. Not a peep from the Level 5 lackeys in the Record,Herald,Scotsman.

Sure they would have been all over it.

  4. I hope Big Shane Lowry wins the US open.

In terms of Sporting Integrity, he is the anti-Rangers(1872-2012).

He called a penalty shot on himself as he was about to address the ball on the green, because the ball moved almost imperceptibly, with him having done nothing to cause it. No one else would have spotted it.

Called an official over, scores were tight at the time, but dropped shot for Shane was the result.

He has since been rewarded with a handsome lead going into today’s final round.

Hope he can hold on to it.

    Great example he’s setting.

I spent most of the 90s in South London. Racist comments such as I hear every day now would not have been allowed,no matter where you were.

This referendum is just like the last one-it allows festering bigotry to put its head above the parapet and legitimises it.

  6. On my way to Bilbao. Still waiting for my proxy vote authorisation to show up. The events of the last couple of days have shown clearly what a nationalist platform can drive the crazies to.

As much as I hate Cameron and wee Nicola that are saints compared to Johnson, Gove and Farage all three of whom I couldn’t tire of punching.

Remain for me assuming I can vote.

  7. Shane Lowry is a real genuine decent guy. Self & Family steeped in GAA, on record as supporting Celtic, would absolutely love it, if he holds it together on final round to win it.

Unfortunately he has a history of 3 good rounds and 1 bad, hopefully today he changes that and makes history.

  11. Sorry, Bhoys, I’ve got that wrong.

Big Shane has had a meeting with officials, who’ve decided just to make the rules up as they go along, have restored his penalty stroke, and asked if there are any titles he’s never which he’d like to have bestowed on him.

To be known henceforth as The Fairway Agreement.

One of my brothers played for Petershill in the early 90s. He was a popular player with the fans until they realised he was a Celtic supporter.

Apparently, they had a pretty basic ‘fanzine’ and he was asked for his favourite match. He answered 4-2, ten men won the league and thought no more about it.

When he played his next game, he was booed by a vociferous section of the crowd every time he touched the ball.

The End of a beautiful friendship!

  17. On Clint Hill.

I had the pleasure of having dinner with Harry Rednapp and Gordon Wallace last October.

Harry told me that Carlton Cole ,wouldn’t play a full 90 mins for Celtic and that the signing boggled him.

Reading his comments and opinions on Clint Hill .He feels that he is very fit and will be a big success for them.

The age isn’t that important ,it’s the players level of fitness and desire ,when they reach a mature age ,that is.

Harry believes Hill is very fit and very determined .

I was unaware of the Petershill thing, it’s obviously narrow mindedness, at ametuer level our strip was green and white with a shamrock as the badge, my mate, who was a really good footballer but also supported that liquidated mob would wear his red & black socks underneath our green and white ones…….his football ability meant more than who he supported, I still think he was far too good a footballer to support that mob……by the way I would never wear anything that even associated with them, at least my narrow mindless is a better than that Petershill mob :-)

Although not in the EU, Norway is a member of the European Economic Area, and, as such, must accept the same Freedom of Movement rules as EU members, while, of course, having no say on these rules.

    As far as I know.

The new one will be day shift/back shift. Do I have a case not to do back shift?

Any response will be appreciated. HH

  29. Beatbhoy,

You’re quite right as regards Norway. If we were to vote to leave on Thursday, we would be in the same situation, if we wanted to be part of the EEA to access the single market.

The Referendum is, imo, about how England sees itself. The far right have never got over no longer having an Empire.

Cameron offered it as a sop to try and placate Tories who would never be placated.

  30. Happy fathers day to all the dad’s out there.
