We might begin looking like a team on Saturday

I’m sure Ronny Deila has used the international break to take in as many scouting games as possible, but he’ll be keen to see his players return to Lennoxtown, fit and available for selection.

Adam Matthews spoke to Celtic media on possibly returning for Saturday’s game against Ross County.  Having not played since August he’ll be well short of match fitness but his presence is badly needed.  We have a must-win Europa League game against Astra next week, with the shape of the team looking so haphazard at the moment it’s crucial we get a benefit of a recognised right back.  Adam needs an hour on Saturday.

Now that central mid is looking solid with Brown and Johansen, the addition of Matthews and McGregor will benefit the right, while allowing Mubarak to fit into his more natural position on the left.  We might begin looking like a team.  Adam also has the engine to play the football Ronny is keen on.

The only question remains how to get our Europa League-eligible strikers looking the part – and that’s not a suggestion to drop John Guidetti on Saturday!

  1. It is amazing how/if players want to perform they make or break a manager.

Roy Keane mentioned it in his book, managers are overrated, they get praised to much, when it’s the players that win things, but get to much criticism when teams do badly.

  2. Neil cana…eh… Played in a inferior team would be my guess….let it go…we disagree…just be happy Scotland are in front….i am…

    bgx,

Simple fact is he got dropped against decent teams in Europe because he is not good enough to play at that level.

Aye it’s a good score line and hopefully stays that way, agree to disagree.

  4. The huddle,

I think that is OK. If the manager gets it tight when it goes wrong he should get heaps of praise when it goes right.

    Or neither ;)

Paul, is this some kind of irony thing?

“Now that central mid is looking solid with Brown and Johansen”…

I only ask because our midfield has never looked less solid, in all the years I’ve been watching. Our midfield has been over-run and ragdolled in every single game I have seen this season, because there are only two men in it.

It is an open invitation for the opposition to boss us there. And they all have, so far.

Lustig and Matthews coming back, and moving Denayer into a defensive midfield position, might make things work better.

But our midfield is where all of our problems start and finish. No protection for the back men. No link-play to the front men.

Solid? People drive a bus through us, every week.

    Ireland still goalless?

Sneak a goal boys, would be amazing

  7. Celtic’s allocation for Pittodrie on Sunday 9th November has been cut from 3,500 to 2,000.

    ht,

No surprise there then with Armageddon crippling the Scottish game, no doubt Aberdeen are shutting a stand eh

  9. Scotland rely on Broonie’s presence almost as much as we do.

2-2 Hutton in a trance again.

  10. HT, FGF, I take it that’s due to local interest in tickets?

When they can’t sell to Aberdeen fans they’ll sell to us?
