Vladimir Romanov has grown bored of his Hearts experiment as an investment of tens of millions of pounds failed to change the side from mid-table strugglers into a team capable of something Motherwell seem able to do on significantly less.
Romanov wanted to transform Hearts into the biggest club in Scotland but failed to address the structural limitations of the club. While Hearts may be the biggest team in Edinburgh, Edinburgh is a net exporter of football fans, Tynecastle is squeezed into a cramped corner of the city and provides very little opportunity to harvest corporate income, and, in case you haven’t noticed, there were two well-established competitors in a larger, net-import city with ample corporate income opportunities.
Various Hearts boards have looked to relocate the club or extend facilities at Tynecastle without much headway being made. A bid of £22m was received from a house builder for the stadium some years ago but without a viable alternative the deal stalled.
A viable alternative could come onto the market soon.
If Rangers go out of business Romanov is in a unique position to take advantage. Craig Whyte holds a floating charge on Ibrox and Murray Park but any bid in excess of his liability, which would be considerably less than the value of the properties, which have a book value of £139m, would secure both pieces of real estate.
Hearts could sell Tynecastle and Hearts training ground, raising enough funds to considerably offset what they would need to pay to secure Ibrox, if not provide a surplus, and establish foothold in the Glasgow market to complement their historical Edinburgh fan base. One club would have a pull on a huge proportion of Scotland’s two largest cities.
At a stroke Romanov would ensure his club were for all time, at the very least, the second largest team in Scotland, and, eventually, could push Celtic for top spot.
It would be a ballsy move, but if you want to create a super-club you need to think a little creatively.

RIP Paul McBride…shocked to the core,
God Bless all his family and friends,
May they NYWA!!
Hail, Hail.
MWD,
At least he is listening which is more than most.
How many buckets would they need to fill to raise £100M?
It’s done it again …
2 Things:
Why has the media stopped talking about Paul Murray? He was in the papers every day last week. This week – zilch.
What has happened to all of the cybermoney (we) raised to save the RFC? In the first 24 hours we were told it was £5.8million. In the first 48 hours we were told it was £10million. Who has made off with the SaveRearrangers cyberdosh?

Just cancelled my ESPN subscription there and sent a e mail of complaint, I have left them in no doubt as to why I have cancelled, Craig Burley is poison, he is a bitter and twisted individual, I would seriously urge those of you who are fed up with this cretin to do likewise.
Hail Hail.
Treble for me, my lads first home game on 1st!!
What a party to be had!!
Hail, Hail.
18 yrs since the rhebels won.
made me realise how much we owe to the ghuys who
started CELTS FOR CHANGE .
i can remember my son and i travelling thro, to govan
town hall ,of all places 40 miles there and back in a
freezing winters night, only a hundred or so of us
we listened to these passionate fellow celtic
supporters ,who i am ashamed to say i cant remember
thier names set in place the movement that within a
few months at the city halls in candleriggs had thousands
hanging from the rafters , the rest as they say is history
remember this was before timternet and not easy to get
the word out.
the one name i do remember who helped keep us all
informed was matt mcglone
these guys had to take a lot of abuse from fellow
celtic fans, we were labelled malcontents as a lot of
mainly older fans didnt think the celtic board should
be critisised .thank god we didnt listen to them.
when you see what is happening at ipox
it amazes me that they have sat back and watch it
happen.then again they are a different breed and
never thaught it would happen to the peepil
R.I.P.Paul McBride and may perpetual light shine upon him.
I missed the craIg burley comments yesterday, can anyone enlighten me?
my choice would be to win the title in their midden, and the players do the huddle after the game, it was not considered incitement at Celtic Park, so how could it possibly be considered incitement now, eh :o)
Then win the treble on a beautiful day in may
Been a while since posting but remained an avid lurker.
The death of Paul McBride has made me log back on.
He was one of the reasons last year that made me so proud to be a Celtic supporter. An absolute professional and a leader of men who fought or corner exemplary .
Make no mistake he made a huge difference in Scottish football.
In his day job he was the man you would want by your side batting for you.
Its an absolute tragedy.
My sympathy to his family and friends.
I never knew him but I will remember him.
This may sound contrite but I would have enjoyed watching him get his teeth into the legal battles which lie ahead as our club eventually play there hand.
God bless you Paul and thanks.
‘Mon the italics!
I recently tried to explain to my mates why I was so happy with the news that the rangers were dying. As they are supporters of Man Utd,Liverpool and Spurs although I use the word supporters I suppose followers would be more appropriate ( they support sky and the off licence) They talked of how they would miss each others teams and the rivalry if any of them no longer existed. I told them a story of how I left Celtic park in the early 90’s after an old firm game. ( something they could not relate to considering they have never been to the stadium of their beloved teams) and was confronted by rangers fans who spat at myself and my brother as well as throw coins at us whilst they sang about Celtic having no money. Only for police intervention a beating was to follow. I therefore felt it was karma that recent events were on folding. Their response to this was simply that any league in which a team in second place could lose 10 points and still remain Second was not worth talking about. Just had a glance at the English premier league and that feeling of karma came over again. Just hope none of them win the champions league think I’m safe with that one. Bring on the treble. Brilliant idea. Let them have it right between the eyes.

It is because the club that couldn’t be sold with no debt, that couldn’t be sold with no big tax case hanging over it, that couldn’t be sold when in reasonably rude financial health, yes that club, that same club who currently have a massive unpaid VAT bill, PAYE bill, BTC, unpaid football creditors. Yes that same club in total financial mess now has 6 people/groups/consortia desperate to bid for rfcia or so we’re told, therefore Paul Murray can’t expect to get all the press.
Are the huns really so thick that they believe all this? Rhetorical question ;-)

Well done was encouraging complaints and cancellations during the night shift last night, need to keep this rolling.
The media need to realise the tide’s turning, Burley needs sorting.

don’t listen to a word of it. They’re full of it. Despite investments of billions the epl is barely a two horse race.

Did you contact ESPN? I e-mailed SKY earlier….standard automated reply ‘will be in touch’
= But I want to cancel NOW!

Very sad about Paul McBride. Horrible news. RIP.

When i refresh the page it takes me to the start of the page again and not back to the last post that i read. This means that you have to scroll through all the posts again, and try and remember the last one that you read.
Time consuming and infuriating for my wee brain.

Could not agree more, I am sick of the man, he is so bitter its beyond a joke now, I am also fed up of people constantly complaining about him yet doing nothing about it, if enough people cancel their subscription and cite him as the reason then surely they will have to sit up and listen, MONEY TALKS.

HK never chaired meetings – he did however do the introductions for the rally at the City Halls – when the Rhebels had won.
He does tend to forget that he got daily ‘exclusive’ info from the Dunntocher/ Hardgate area before he went on-air every morning at 7:30am.
