1254125, transfer selling and sell out books

613

Thank you to everyone who participated in our auction for the Lionel Messi signed shirt, which raised £1020 when it closed this morning, a clear £20 more than the Celtic top signed by the Seville squad, which closed a few days earlier, you are a credit to the club.  Our summer fundraising for the 1254125 campaign and other good causes is off to an excellent start.

We have seven weeks until our first Champions League qualifying game but the qualifying rounds do not end for a full 12 weeks.  These timescales will determine how seriously Celtic take interest in our star players.  Right now, there will be little attention to these matters.

With a couple of new contract offers unsigned after 8 months, I expect Celtic will have a sale valuation in mind, but business is often done in the final days of the transfer window, and until then, efforts will continue to re-sign players.  Celtic are in the fortunate position of not having to accept an offer to keep the lights on, so if valuations are not met, as was the case with Gary Hooper in January, we can afford to let players leave for nothing.

Willie Wallace’s autobiography, Heart of a Lion, sold out initial stock at the mail-order fulfilment centre and several retail stores last week.  The fulfilment centre is now back in stock, all orders should be shipped and with you in a couple of days.

Paddy Turner – how long have you been married to my wife…?! :-)

BT – what’s happening to you today? Physio time? Ouch…enjoy!

Caught some of that Rome program last night and it looked really interesting stuff about the early years of the church in the 3rd century. Even us heathens would enjoy it!

Lenny – congrats to you and the sainted Maureen.

My memory isn’t that good now but I remember Alex Byrne as a silky player in the style of Charlie Gallagher( not sure if there’s a C or G in Charlies name) and Willie Fernie, I wouldn’t say he shirked tackles.

Too many people come on this site and don’t think before they leap in with the criticism of any player, a lot of the players are still alive and may read this blog, and when their name is mentioned in a bad light, it bound to hurt them.

BT/TTTT -I read the JJNorwich book on the Popes- very enjoyable- a few rum coves have sat on St Peter’s Chair!

If you are looking for books to pack on holiday this summer [or even to read while off on the sick ;/)] then ‘HHhH’, which is about the assassination of Heydrich in Prague in 1942 is very good.

We bought an iPad last year and I love it. Inevitably though one tablet was not enough and at Christmas Sarah bought a Google Nexus 7 for £199 with her present money. She loves it and it’s a great device, more flexible than the Kindle Fire as it gets full access to Apps whereas the Kindle Fire (which is also a great device) is an Amazon skinned version of the Android operating system.

We’ve since bought another Nexus for Morag who also loves it. I’ve heard good things about the Samsung Galaxy Tab2 as well.

It’s all about what suits you best. I love my iPad but if I’d got the Nexus first I’d have been delighted with it.

Then again probably best not to take my advice as you know what us IT guys are like.

    Good luck at the hospital.

  11. Good Morning all you fine gents (and ladies!!)

  16. I ordered Wung’s book on the 11th May, when it eventually arrives will it have his autograph?

He was a tremendous servant for Celtic and i have great memories of him and recall his Dad (still then a red hot Rangers fan) travelling on the Kirky Celtic bus to Auld Firm games(RIP) at Ibrokes.

Good luck to Kirkie’s finest, Charlie you have a bit to go. H.H.

And if all you’re doing is a bit of basic browsing and iPlayer etc, I’d even suggest one of the cheap Chinese imports. I got a Momo Ployer 7 from Amazon for £90, it’s got a near IPS screen and it’s great for the money.

Modren Amazon skinned version of the Android operating system is rubbish.

  20. “Celtic are today bracing themselves for a tsunami scale disaster as incredibly all of their first team squad will depart from the East End this summer, even more astonishing is the fact that Celtic Supremo Peter Lawwell will actually pay all the clubs involved to take his players off of his hands thus spending all of Celtic’s Champions League pot of gold in an unprecedented piece of bad business”

Celtic Supporters clubs all over the world have declared a national day of mourning on the 15th of July as their club slides toward disaster…

Meanwhile over at Ibrox Rangers have swooped into the transfer market buying up quality players at the best rates ever for their assault on next seasons big one – The Ramsdens Cup, the prestigious trophy which has never been won by Celtic is high on a list of “wants” by wily winner Alistair ” Steakbake” McCoist, the Gers manager has filled the cardigan of his legnedary tutor Walter ” the chairman” Smith with aplomb securing the Third Division Title affectionately known as “The Fanny” down Govan way.It promises to be another season of celebration of Rangers culture and traditions on the South Side of the city and who can blame them with their old firm rivals Celtic on the brink of collapse”

entirely your choice they are all pretty good but if the wee yin has ipad mini if you get an ipad you will be able to have what apple call face time, similar to Skype & if you have an iphone they all link automatically? but google nexus & Samsung are on a par now & android is used on most smart phones now.

as I say what ever floats your boat you’ll soon get used to any of them!

Is there no class amongst you tipplers.O’Neills would be the last place I’d go for a get together, you have to take of your football colours or you won’t get served with a drink,

we’re not welcome there during the football season, so why put money into their pockets in the close season, as you can see I’m not an O’Neills fan. if there was a better choice of pub I may have come through, I’ll wait until Aberdour for my next drink,at least we are welcome there.

I was with you, and the rest of the crew, in O’Neills the last time we had a drink after a game,I enjoyed the company, didn’t enjoy the pub.

Just re-read that post I better check my blood sugar levels, I sound a bit angry,

    but I’m not.

Drivin’ into work today [hello birds, hello sky] listening to the new album by ole Graham Parker and the Rumour, which was recommended by none other than ole Cadizzy hisself.

The album is pretty good, especially ‘Three Chords Good’, the title track. Maybe not as good as the late 70s stuff, but worth checkin’ out.

Anyways, is the ole third div MOTY ‘weight bearin” the day?

  25. ParkheadcumSalford- £7m for Gary Hooper would fall into the bite their hand off category.

£10m for Vic would also be a very impressive return, if SSM can better that he will be dong well.

£1m for JR a no- brainer, considering what we have wasted on Mo the Bounce.

My missus got anew contract galaxy s111 phone from car phone warehouse on a £25 / month contract and was given the galaxy S2 tablet as a freebie ….. Which I duly purloined for CQN when I’m at home

it does every thing the kids iPads do including playing adobe flash stuff which the iPad won’t!!! So it’s very good for all the YouTube music and fitba links that the moon howlers post:-)

C1st- I had a few days in Marbella last week. Got the plane over with H.Hood and R.Lennox, both of whom looked very well.

While I was there I also read ‘Life after Life’ by Katy Atkinson, which I also enjoyed very much.

We took the ferry out to Puerto Banus one evening. I shall remember it the next time wee Davy Cameron tells us ‘times are tough and we’re all in it together’.

Old Tim you are a wise Old Owl, too many guys are just trying to draw attention to themselves with their controversial posts and fail to realise that these posts are being read by thousands of people all over the world including family & close friends of some of the subjects. Can you just imagine if the likes of Alex Byrne did look in for a nostalgic peep just to see if modern supporters did remember him. BT said earlier hang ye’re heads in shame, I totally concur.
