1254125, transfer selling and sell out books

613

Thank you to everyone who participated in our auction for the Lionel Messi signed shirt, which raised £1020 when it closed this morning, a clear £20 more than the Celtic top signed by the Seville squad, which closed a few days earlier, you are a credit to the club.  Our summer fundraising for the 1254125 campaign and other good causes is off to an excellent start.

We have seven weeks until our first Champions League qualifying game but the qualifying rounds do not end for a full 12 weeks.  These timescales will determine how seriously Celtic take interest in our star players.  Right now, there will be little attention to these matters.

With a couple of new contract offers unsigned after 8 months, I expect Celtic will have a sale valuation in mind, but business is often done in the final days of the transfer window, and until then, efforts will continue to re-sign players.  Celtic are in the fortunate position of not having to accept an offer to keep the lights on, so if valuations are not met, as was the case with Gary Hooper in January, we can afford to let players leave for nothing.

Willie Wallace’s autobiography, Heart of a Lion, sold out initial stock at the mail-order fulfilment centre and several retail stores last week.  The fulfilment centre is now back in stock, all orders should be shipped and with you in a couple of days.

  4. Morning all. Promising day down here.

I see we value Victor Wanyama at £10 million, according to the Express, while GaryHooper is going for £7 million, according to the Mail. Nonsense of the first water. Big Victor should not be going for anything less than £20 million imo. Gary Hooper is worth a minimum of £10 million to Celtic.

  5. BT , very best of luck today

Need to go to work I suppose

    Re Russell

Could Celtic be waiting to snap up this guy Balde from Vitoria Guimaraes?

    Or Sagbo from Evian?

Either way— Russell at £750k seems a steal

We probably need 2 strikers. Especially if Hooper, Miku & Lassad are heading out, and Murphy & Bangura not coming back.

A big strong striker like Balde or Sagbo and someone to play off him or from the wide area like Russell.

Balde/Sagbo, Russell, Stokes & Watt would be a strong 4 strikers to choose from, add Sammi, Commons, Forrest and a new winger we also seem to be after and that’s plenty of attacking options.

  8. Goodwillie going out on loan next season..

Hibs should go for him to replace Griffiths should he return to wolves.

  9. The Moon Bhoys on

Miku, Lassad, Bangura, Murphy, Kapo, Ljungberg etc. Neil’s record at signing strikers isnt a particularly good one. Go get Johnny Russell Neil, even if we only use him in the SPL he will be a massive improvement on previous attempts to sign a prolific striker.

  10. Happy Anniversary to Mr and Mrs LennyBhoy.

Congratulations to you both, and a medal to Mrs LennyBhoy;-)

We must be related, Alex Byrne is my uncle (and godfather). Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes, I’ll be passing them on to him shortly, I know he’ll be chuffed he’s still remembered.

And for the ones who think he was a feartie, there’s a reason why he didn’t get in there with the tackles. It wasn’t that he was feart of getting hurt himself, it was the other way round – he was feart of hurting his opponent. If you knew him you would know that.He was just too nice a person, probably not ideal for a football pitch!

Couple of trivia points, he was in the team who played in Valencia for our first ever European match in 1962. And some years after he had emigrated he was asked to manage the Australian national team but turned it down in case they ever come up against Scotland as he knew where his loyalties lay.

A fine gentleman, happy 80th birthday Uncle Alex!!

  18. MOOOOON THE HOOPS………..You put in that I called Alex Byrne a shite bag, what I wrote was…….Alex was a lovely player he could run down the wing with a Doz. Eggs in a basket and not break one he did not like to take a tackle bit of a shite bag, shite bag prob. a wee bit harsh my appols. and happy B-Day Alex.

  19. Good Luck BT today, is it plaster off time today. If so then Happy Day, what a bloody relief, Physio is a nuisance but its OK. My daughter has just invested in a tablet and after investigation she went mid range for a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 costing around 300 Euros. I have no idea why this is any better or worse but as I say she did investigate and took a lot of advice from the anorak types. Today is an absolutely glorious morning, I’m in Co. Wexford having spent last couple of days in Dublin. On tour but working my way back to Tipp for Seniors Golf tomorrow.

  20. blantyretim. I will come over on Thursday morning with your moob fixers if that suits mate. Good luck at the hospital today.

A poster called MooooonTheHoops came on last night to wish Alex Byrne a happy eightieth birthday, making it clear that Alex Byrne was a family member. A few posters thought it appropriate to give a critique, 50 years on, of Alex Byrne’s perceived reluctance to go flying into tackles.

MooooonTheHoops came back on at 02:48 to take exception to some of the more impolite contributions to the discussion.

  26. BT.

Good luck with your hospital visit.

Alex Byrne played at the same time as your old man. I think he even played in the Fair Cities Cup in 1962 your dad played in the away game, and Frank Haffey played at Parkhead
