A number 10

936

A journalist friend in Norway tells me Jo Inge Berget is a traditional no. 10, not a striker. We need both. Kris Commons fills the creative roll almost exclusively, we need someone to share the burden, but we still need a strong, penalty box striker, who can stand up to the pressures of Champions League football.

Best of luck to Tony Watt, best of luck to Standard too, who I hear have put a lot of skin in his contract. Belgium should give him a better chance of fulfilling his potential than anywhere in the UK. It’s head down and work hard time.

I expect the bhoy McGregor to get a start, has improved every game I’ve seen him play and I’d hope he is encouraged to continue improving by getting a place till he reaches his next plateau. Then rest and work with him on further improvement.

They took my £40 renewal 3 weeks ago so it must on an annual renewal direct debit payment. Need to look out for it next year and cancel it. I think Sky & Virgin are pulling the strings here!!

I mean its not as if I was goin to the game.

Pity, seems like the only time I don’t see your constant negativity is at the game.

  4. I’m the eldest in a large family. All of them were in the 50s.

As the eldest I got to kick my young brothers up and down the close when we were playing shootie in with a tennis ball. Only we could make a 10 yard gap into a physical contact sport.

Of course there was always a wee bit of animosity among the younger members as I got into my teens. It was a way of establishing a pecking order I suppose.

My father used to warn me not to get involved or to take sides when somebody claimed their chair, or spot in front of the telly.

Let them work it out for themselves was his advice. They will be friends again tomorrow.

So I look at the spats here on the board and smile knowing we will all be supporting the one team at kick off tomorrow.

    We will won’t we?

Maybe Israel should just use Zyklon B in Gaza. It would be more efficient and save the American taxpayer a packet.

Interesting you should say that. As I watched footage of the genocide on the news tonight I wondered why they didn’t just poison the water system. Far more efficient.

  7. For those who will be in Warsaw tomorrow. I hope you enjoy your trip, despite final result of the game:-). It’s very safe city with no areas where you should not put your leg. Best place is defhinitely old town with it’s old houses, atmosphere and restaurants.

I read the statement given by the Scottish police concerning alcohol consumption before the game. Legia stadium regulations say that the stewards have right to keep the person away from the stadium if the person is under the influance of alcohol. I would not risk too many beers just before the game.

Aye, more than likely they are backing up Premier Sports. Celtic TV auto renews the subscription every year. I always forget about it! Just looked it up and it renewed on the 27th!

Don’t know why many of you folks started to read,or when you started to participate on CQN.

My main reason was to get away from the hemlock that the SMSM laced their message with.

    Recently

I’m dismayed that recently some on CQN have turned the blog into their own little crusade to constantly and continuously criticising the club. Now critique is valuable but not.when it is jaundiced and irrational.

  11. I see police Scotland are keen on extending their sectarianism against celtic fans onto Europe. I’m sure celtic will defend us though ( yeah right).

  12. I can’t go to murrayfield because I work I’m the Netherlands BCW. But fear not perhaps when we return to more mundane action at CP?

  13. Neganon2

Yes I mean Boerrigter. I added the salutation to Slater as I could be losing my mind.

Derk has it all if given space to work. Great crosser and direct.

Could be a new Petta or a Blinker but haven’t seen him on a run of games yet.

    Kickinthenakas

I loved Slater, if one of those crackin shots vs the huns in 92?( When they were 10 men), had gone in, he would have been a hero.

Another sneaky Ally 1-0. (Watched in hun pub across from Heraghty’s which was full).

McCoist was a classic case of a striker moulded for scottish grounds. Pure pish elsewhere

I remember being at the Sco v Swiss game in 96 and everyone raved about his great winner. I churlified about the 6 sitters he missed in the first half that sent us out. Accused of being a bitter Tim

    Ho hum

  14. BCW it is only your opinion that criticism is jaundiced and irrational. It’s essential and celtic are yet again throwing away their advantage. If by highlighting that I vpcan change it in any. Small way I will.

  15. Living_in_the_Love_of_the_Commons_People on

Work schedule rearranged so I can watch the game on Celtic TV the morra.

And I’ll be posting on here. Mineshafters beware… ;-))

  16. Ah BCW but I will meet you at CP. Don’t be too sad……sometimes life gets in the way!

  17. Oh it is just your opinion BCW.

I am a season ticket holder and go to most home games and a few away games. My work this year makes midweek games difficult to impossible.

    Do you go to games?

Are you a better celtic supporter than me?

  18. Very interested in Celtic’s forward line tomorrow. It was noted here on CQN how at Murrayfield there were a few balls put across the six yard box with no takers. Ronny must also have noticed.

I would only consider starting Derk Bottler (harsh?) to allow Griffiths the No.9 slot.

  19. Clashcitybhoy on

Seen a few suggestions on team lines for tomorrow tonight, so here is mine

    1) don’t have anyone making their debut away from home in Europe

    2) don’t play players out of position

    3) stick to either a 442 or 4231 that players are used to.

    Agreed.

    Very pragmatic.

  22. Ok BCW I am going to say something serious to you and then no more between us.

I do not believe I am a joke on here as you say. I believe I have portrayed a persistent and consistent view of celtics so called strategy. I am relaxed about my many detractors. The site is important to celtic and they need to know we don’t buy the nonsense.

I only asked if you thought you were a better celtic supporter because that’s your stance. I don’t question and support so I am better than you.

You can’t even hold an debate these days BCW.
