  2. CELTIC secured an eighth consecutive league title today (Saturday) with a 3-0 win against Aberdeen at Pittodrie. After the match, Hoops boss Neil Lennon sent a message of support to the Paradise faithful in praise of their dedication throughout the entirety of the campaign.

He said: “This is to the Celtic faithful, thank you for your magnificent support again. It’s our eighth title in a row, and it’s as much for you as it is for the players.

“We’re so proud today, and thank you for your support all season. I know it’s been a little bit of a rollercoaster for all the fans, but you’ve been magnificent, and the players have responded to your magnificent support.

“We’ve got a cup final to look forward to, I hope to see you all there. But for today, I hope you enjoy the moment and be really proud to be a Celtic fan.”

Woohoo, Champions again as you know.

Glad to put this one to bed. One of these games where the result is far more importance than the performance.

And spare a thought for NFL; his stress levels must have been phenomenal. A massive thanks and well done to him.

We go to Grayskull next week full of confidence with no pressure.

Guard of honour or not, it should be interesting.

HH to all, the journey continues.

  5. Delighted for Neil, the players the fans and everybody involved.. Ronny for 2, Brendan for 2 and Neil for the 4 so far

    8 is definitely great

    Hopefully 9 will be fine

And ten could be plenty but still should be twenty

Being a Celtic fan/supporter is pretty emotional from your first hoops top, your first game, to the sad passing of genuine greats … winning trophies aren’t the be all and end all but it is magic… the wee bhoy who got Broonys top the day is my type of Celt :-)

    Enjoy your weekend fellow Celts

    Well done for that!

Spent a few days in Seville a few years ago, found myself in a hotel next to Real Betis stadium. Went for a wee stroll with Mrs Emeraldbee around the place and found an information placard which clearly showed their working-class history and the fact that they were the ‘lesser’ team/club in Seville. “They sound like the Celtic of Seville” said the Wise One. Who was I to disagree.

Well said Real Betis (who play in Green and White).

Wow! What a feeling. I’ve lived through a lot of the black days, and the last couple of weeks have obviously been terrible for so many people, but what a feeling right now!.

That’s for Billy, Steve, and everyone else who is suffering right now. Including MA&H, who I never met but I enjoyed reading his views always. Love to all.

  8. Just popping in to say well done to all at Celtic FC.

    Great to reach eight!

For all those who have suffered recent losses, for all those who are struggling with health issues.

I hope today put a wee smile on your face.

God bless the mighty Glasgow Celtic!!!

Thanks for that – I was ten when the QE2 was parked at the bottom of Bogston – I could look down on her from Thomas Muir St.

My late uncle, who took me to all the games including Easter Rd 73 got me a tour round the Queen – I will never forget the sheer size of the ship and the luxury of the interior.

Cheers and on to the nine

  11. Had a wonderful day, finally back in my ol’ armchair & just basking in the win. Reading every article & watching every clip.

I agree with everybody posting about Scott Bain, he has been bloody brilliant for us.

Delighted for PC Lustig & Lenny in particular delighted for the kid who got the jersey , delighted for Tims all over the World.

  12. Hrvatski Jim on

Well done to Celtic today , especially after all the emotions that we have suffered in the past 2 weeks and with more to come on Wednesday

Our performance today was mostly good but Aberdeen did have some great chances that could have scuppered us.

Mikael joins the list of scorers of goals which secured a title for us. So pleased for him as one of our best players this decade.

So now the goto website for the next month will be Bert Kassies. Old Bert must be having a day off as he has not yet noticed that Celtic has secured our place in the qualifiers for next season .however it looks like we will be top seeded in all the qualifying rounds so it should be in our hands to make our way through to the group stage if we get up to standard.

Let’s get the manager and the signings sorted early and go into the qualifiers with a settled team, especially in defence.

  13. Great day so far! Good food, good drink, great company and great hotel. As an aside, the football was pretty good too.

Guaranteed sore head tomorrow but a hair of the dog will be in the pipe after 12 Mass. will be good to quietly smirk at all the Orcs in town tomorrow. HH!

Well said, good piece , Lenny has driven us to 8 in a row when we were left in the shit ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽ next nine

  15. Finally got round to the Las Condes Celtic Way Merlot. Received it at Xmas and said I would keep it till we win our next trophy. Expected to be disappointed when I opened it, but really very quaffable. Also enjoying all the clips and songs on ‘tinternet. Loving every minute of our honest successes. The relationship with Real Betis being an added bonus. Hail Hail The Celts Are Here!!!!!!!!

  16. Well done the Hoops .Just said to SHUGGY junior that Rogic hadd not done much and then he he lays it on a plate for Eddie for the third goal. Scott Bain a great keeper

    Great result for Neil Lennon.

8 in a row is magic. Well done.

  17. H00000000py tonight !!

Well done to all the squad who played their part in winning this league. Bain has been great , Jozo immense, Forrest decisive, Christie courageous, McGregor dynamite and Eddie so fast. Thanks to Ollie Burke and Timo Weah for their enthusiasm and drive. In big games you have to step up to the plate and big Lustig did that today….and how !! Well done to all the fans who continue to give Celtic a good name, whatever the tumshees say.

  18. I’ve had an unbelievably busy day today and haven’t had time to post. I’m absolutely jubilant after our tremendous victory today to seal our 50th League title and our 8th in a row for the second time. Congratulations to our wonderful players who have given so much during the season. Congratulations to Neil Lennon for accepting the poisoned chalice of trying to bring home the latter two parts of the Rebel Treble Treble in such trying circumstances. Well done Neil for delivering the League and congratulations. Good luck for the Cup! Thanks also to our coaching staff for their loyalty and hard work also. It is an absolute honour to be a Celtic supporter in these times of mixed sadness and joy. Billy and Stevie, You’ll Never Walk Alone. ???

Hello again all you young rebels.

Just wakened on this beautiful Oz morning.

My head is thumping, my legs are sore dancing about like a

teenager, my throat is hoarse, and best of all, my heart is

    bursting with pride.

So much love for this team of ours, and don’t forget that

wonderful support who carry us through times like this.

    So proud of you all.

  20. This Season has been mega tough and Celtic have prevailed.

Hayley dear, get it right up ye wi yer snide little Sky Allowed broadside.

    Another Honest 9 hopefully incoming.

  21. GREENPINATA on 4TH MAY 2019 8:52 PM

We go to Grayskull next week full of confidence with no pressure. Guard of honour or not, it should be interesting.

*On a cauld Eastern European night we flew intae Vienna and then travelled the final 40 miles to Bratislava by bus. We held a slender 1-0 lead from the first leg in the hope of grabbing a berth in the Lavvy Cup semis.

Our back 3, as the song says, of Clark, McNeill and Kennedy were magnificent in stemming the flow fae the Slovan forwards and when they did get through John Fallon made some remarkable saves.

With 5 minutes left on the clock the bear robbed Anton Moravčík and ran half the length of the field to score a sensational goal, incidentally watching this was the man who gave us the other Moravčík, Lubo, as well as big Dolph, he had been amazingly dropped for both legs.

So on the following Saturday prior to a SC quarter final game at hades deidco players lined up and clapped our players on to the pitch in view of the leather belts reaching the semis, this was regarded as a fine gesture of sportsmanship.

This was their last piece of generosity that afternoon as they thumped us 2-0, the scoreline not being a true reflection of their superiority that day, wee henderson in particular was outstanding giving big Tam a torrid time and jim forrest clearly having the measure of big Billy. That would all change 12 months later on the return of the Big Mhan

Now some of us oul hauns on here talk about the thugs we saw in their side, baird, shearer, even their greatest ever player, who was at Billy’s funeral and also laid a wreath at his statue, however, at boardroom level they were quite cordial with ours, in fact the first person tae greet the side coming back fae Lisbon, at the then named Abbotsinch Airport, was their chairman john lawrence, he also toasted Bob Kelly in their boardroom on hearing of his kinghood in the New Years’ Honour list.

IMHO all this changed when the rugby supporting rag and bone man took over, now you can all jump up and down saying “aye but he did sign their first ben affleck in over 60 years” but that was not due tae any religious tolerance on his part, it was at the insistence of UEFA and the beast who made it a requirement on his joining them, it was also a GIRUY at us.

The current regime are just playing tae the peanut gallery else ding dong the bus driver would be long gone.

    Who will the Manager be?

Whoever will, hopefully, be here for 9 in a Row.

    9 in a Row!!!!

Incredible Celtic – especially as the odds are so stacked against us via the Establishment and their goons that have been sitting in places so comfortable it baffles the life out of me.

    Dallas Dallas.

Horrible to think of the stench all the way up to the top of European Fitba.

    Fantastic Celtic.

    2018/19- 84 to 90 pts- anywhere from 3 to 18 pts clear

The last 2 years will probably fall into the bottom half of our league table of most comfortable to least comfortable league title wins but who remembers 2iar where we got fewer points (and no Sevco in the league) or 5iar which will provide similar figures to this year?

Every year you can only win by as much or as little as your own form and the opposition quality allows. The Year2 figures did not indicate that 3iar would be lost nor did year 5 see us lose our title winning form. In fact, both years saw us double our winning lead in the subsequent year.

We can read nothing about next year from the runes of this one. It will be a new challenge with one or two new teams. The huns will abandon their strategy of expensive pay days for past it or never had it players (McCauley, Defoe, Worrall) and will go down the route of young, hungry Scots based players (Stewart, Jones and Hastie) and may promote a few of their own youth team. It will be risky for them and for us.

Buying expensive players or recruiting an expensive coach guarantees nothing. There will always be surprises; this year Christie and Hayes resurrected their Celtic careers whilst the more vaunted N’tcham, Kouassi and Gordon dropped down the pecking order. Our loan players helped us out but some will not be allowed to sign for us (Benkovic and Weah) while others proved to be not good enough for the transfer fee that would be asked (Toljan and Burke). 2 of our youth players knocked on the door this year and Johnston and Henderson will be pressing, along with Bayo to be next year’s Christie and Hayes. In time for 10iar we might see Oko-Flex and Karamoko do the same.

In short, we will rebuild and so will all other teams. The best guide to how next season will go is supplied by the first 2 months of that campaign. As champions, we are the SPFL team with least need of a radical overhaul but with most funds to do so if the need arises. The future will be as nervy and exciting as this year has been, regardless of points total gained and winning points gap achieved in 2019/20.

But first we have a beachball visit to Ibrox, a title party , and a treble treble to see to.

Next year’s campaign, new manager and incoming players can wait till we finish this year’s business.

Can’t wait to see Jimmy Bell’s pinched and pained face next week.

  25. Melbourne Mick on

Badly need a hair of the dog, but the nets down at our local

soccer club don’t put themselves up.

No game for our u17’s today, they sit comfortably top of the league.

So it’s the u16’s who will have to listen to this auld Scot singing

    Celtic songs all day.

No doubt the EPL fuds will give me there usual gash about the best

league in the world although i did feel a bit embarrassed when every

one of them offered condolences on the passing of our two Lisbon

    Lions.

Just goes to show you the respect that team earned in the wider

    football community.

Anyway nine is fine but ten is head exploding time for the stickies lol.
