Congratulations to Thomas Stephen Chalmers, our fourth-highest scorer,on joining Scotland’s Hall of Fame.

No mention in the article I read of the fact that he only got five caps, despite scoring three times.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good wind-up!

  3. Hi Guys,

I don’t normally post this early in the morning. However, I retired from work on Friday.

I was looking forward to a wee long lie this morning but my son put paid to that by asking me to take him to Glasgow airport at 6am for a flight to Dusseldorf.

When the alarm went off my first thought was that if I had been born a hun I could have stayed in bed all day. My second was……what a GREAT way to start your retirement. Watching your son fly off to see Celtic play in Germany in the group stages of the Champions League!

I’m just back home and I have a wee question for the retired community on here. Er, what happens now?

  4. Guid luck to all the fans heading over to Germany for the morra night.

I know a few from where I live and, my bro and his gf are also going over.

I have a guid feeling about this game – guid vibes.

I’m also worried that, Brendan brings back Kolo and he has his Efe boots on.

I’m worried that, Izzy is targeted and torn apart.

    Play with 2 strikers 4-4-1-1.

Use James Forrest as an oot ball and let him weave his, Ribbery-Robben type of magic.

Paddy is a guid player but, he is falling into the wee Joe Miller trap – beating the same player twice.

In fairness to wee Super-Joe-Miller…he was mismanaged when he came to us…imho.

Wee SJM played behind the main striker for the Dons and scored almost every week then, he got his dream move to the Cellic and, was played out on the wing ?????

Anyway,…use wee James as the oot ball and….watch the magic unfold.

Tom Rogic has come on a ton playing under a manager who is shrewd enough to press the correct buttons,….that’s grand.

A wee bit of aggressive energy in the midfield the morra nicht – that means no passengers like, Bitton or McGregor….imho.

BMG put a man marker on KT at CP the other week so, maybe they’ll see the LB area as the weak link ?

I’m not Brendan but, if I was…..I’d pull a stroke and play Liam Henderson in front of Izzy if….?…..Brendan plays a back 4.

Brendan might go with 3 at the back ?

But,….I’ve got bad vibes about Kolo.

BMG were well drilled and, organized….it’s now over to Brendan to show that he can be equally meticulous…imho.

Bottom line…..2 strikers are a ‘must’….if not, Cellic will be turned over.

    Res:12……?

All that can be done is to, praise the folk who have driven this this far.

If,….they come home with the bacon, then Legendary status will be theirs.

I know hee-haw about the mechanics involved in this.

But, purely as a fan who stood in the Jungle for 2 decades…..I detect some naivety.

Maybe these, extremely clever folk who are behind Res:12…..are not paranoid enough ?

Ah mean, does this Res:12 Rebel Band realize that,….at some point, the establishment will have to be faced ?

That of course is an establishment which includes a…..

    ….kowtowing-silently-complicit-sleekit-soul-selling-Celtic-PLC-Hierarchy ?

Ah mean, if there are going to be earth shattering consequences, will these include….

The huns being put out of the league ?

The SFA banned from the World Cup / Euro Championship ?

Scottish teams banned out of Europe ?

No huns in the league – how long will Brendan stay ?

Will the PLC-Hierarchy bring in a new puppet-manager who’ll empty the park ?

Will all the star players be sold and, the money taken in to disappear up a lumb ?

Will Fergus McCann be rolled out to tell us that – “Putting Rangers FC out of the same league as, Celtic FC is the ‘worst’ decision ever – even worse than bringing in Jock Brown” ???

Will WGS be wheeled oot to tell us that, “The leagues should be re-constructed so that, Rangers FC are in the same league as, Celtic FC.” ???

Will Celtic cuff the huns at ibrokes at ne’erday, sparking off the kind of civil unrest that will see the govt summit put in place and, the kowtowing-sleekit-PLC-Hierarchy will attend because Celtic will have had three players booked(all for celebrating they’re hat-tricks) and, a new OBAF ACT thingy will be signed by the Old Firm ???

Will Scott Brown tempt injury fate by playing for the Masonic-SFA-Team managed by wee PLC-Puppet-Manager – WGS ???

Will our rivers run free if, The Donald makes another appearance on these pages ???

Will Tony Donnelly 67 get it tight fae the brown-shirted-‘bud’-clique the day ??? :-)

Will apples fall out the sky the morra night ???

Will the bliddy chemist please hurry up and open so that I can get my medication ???

    ….laters…..

I shudder, and then stick the kettle on, happy mood restored!

Retirement. Right now it can’t come quick enough for me (I’m only 57)

Currently stuck on thr 06:45 to LHR.

We boarded at 6:20. Only to be told the fog in London meant we weren’t taking off until 08:30.

    It’s 9:10 and we’re still on.

They let some folk off the plane that didn’t want to travel.

Seems they forgot to ask them who they were and their seat number. So now they don’t know who is on the plane and who isn’t.

They are coming through the plane checking everyone’s name. And also checking ownership of ever piece of luggage in the overhead lockers.

    It’s Hallowe’en. It’s a nightmare.

    Enjoy your retirement.

    Fixed that fur yeez…! ;-)

  18. There is delusion and there is hun delusion, efin hilarious, fair made the start to my day.

I won’t post the link so here it is……

” THERE can be fewer individuals more divisive than Rangers chairman Dave King in Scottish football.

For many he’s a ‘glib and shameless liar’, a charlatan who doesn’t have the money to cash the cheques he writes with his very loud mouth.

In contrast, for the army of Rangers fans who have watched his revolution since wresting the club from the clutches of Mike Ashley, he’s fast becoming a legend.

It’s now impossible to look at the huge strides the club has made and not marvel at the board’s achievements, the recent, brilliant series of communications with the fans serving to further strengthen this extremely satisfying body of work.

    Rangers manager Mark Warburton

On the pitch the club has been promoted, playing the most exciting brand of football since the big-spending Advocaat era. We have a modern, professional manager who is bringing the elite standards of the English Premier League.

The entire infrastructure has been refreshed with key appointments made behind the scenes with the club having appointed some impressive individuals in important areas. Long gone are the days when ex-rangers players whose only qualification was being ‘a rangers man’ being put in key structural positions.

Off the pitch season ticket sales are buoyant and heading towards the club record. The club’s supporters are galvanised and united. Billionaire Mike Ashley has been kicked from pillar to post in the courts and is looking like a faded force in events.

What’s not to like I wonder?

It’s often held over King that he suggested he would spend 30 million on the club and hasn’t delivered but many of us at the time felt this kind of quantum should only be used as a part of a long term plan to deliver the club to the top. The hubris and showmanship of the Murray era wasn’t something to be welcomed and the club had to get away from being pressured into making constant short term plans to appease fickle fans. King and his board seem to have delivered that with a steady as you go approach to funding.

Money has been pumped in behind the scenes to pay for the very obvious shortfall that has been highlighted in the club accounts. Those who continually remind us that the club is a loss making business without a credit line from a bank can’t have it both ways. The board are doing their bit to help the club in its journey to self-sustainability by digging into their own pockets.

This represents a personal sacrifice that should never be forgotten.

It’s tempting to draw parallels with what has been achieved to Fergus McCann who undoubtedly saved Celtic in their time of crisis but the difference is in the detail.

McCann smelt business opportunity and walked away with a huge profit. His motives were not altruism, and the good state of Celtic on his departure was simply a happy by-product of his reign rather than the key objective. Perhaps that’s why he departed to a chorus of boos although that has been swept away in a reformed, revisionist history.

King on the other hand is no McCann. He will make no gain, no swag bag of financial reward. Success on the park is no mere by-product, it’s the principal aim.

Perhaps it’s this truth, that rankles with so many.

In this club, which proudly hangs a portrait of the monarch in the dressing room, perhaps even the most staunch royalist will accept a new motto: ‘long live the King’.

If you fancy a good story about a remarkable man then please have a read. For those of you with an Irish background, the guy concerned was described as “One of the Most famous Irishmen you have never heard of!”

This is a story that is still ongoing despite the man concerned passing away 53 years ago yesterday.

It is the story of “Big Hugh” — the likes of whom you will rarely see again and no, he would have never worn a Poppy!

If it makes you feel any better, I spent all yesterday raking up leaves in the garden only to look out this morning the lawn was covered again. That has to be some kinda life metaphor, but it definitely indicates that retirement may not be all it’s cracked up to be. On the other hand – if I were retired maybe I’d just follow the advice of fellow CQNers and head for the pub/bookies…after a roll ‘n’ skwerr of course…
